Retailer Lists Possible Release Date For Sonic Superstars

Looks like someone let the cat out of the bag. Although the Sonic Central showcase from earlier today announced a Fall 2023 release for Sonic Superstars, a listing on US retailer Target has the game down for a much more specific date: October 17.

The website prices the game at $59.99, and details the pre-order bonuses announced earlier in the Sonic Central showcase today; a LEGO Eggman Minifig character skin – alongside an acrylic display stand and reversible game cover.

If you wanted a closer look at that nice and shiny PS5 game cover as well, you can see that for yourself below.

While October 17 isn’t officially confirmed, obviously, it’s worth noting that retailers often get these kinds of details ahead of time and every so often they let those legitimate details slip. It would certainly fall into SEGA’s previous release window of ‘Fall 2023’, but that date also puts Superstars in direct competition with Super Mario Bros Wonder, a 2D Mario game that is releasing on Nintendo Switch on October 20.

No matter how much time has passed, we always somehow come back to that classic 1990s battle, between Sonic and Mario. When will this war ever end?

The annual Golden Globes ceremony took place over the weekend in the US, and it was pretty meme-worthy for a number of reasons – largely because of the jokes fired out by hosts Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh. But we weren’t expecting one of the jokes to involve Jim Carrey and the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Sonic Lost World Hits Europe October 18th

Today, SEGA Europe has revealed via a localized version of yesterday’s trailer and their website that Sonic Lost World will launch in Europe October 18th. That’s four days before the game’s US launch, so our fellow fans in the US may want to stay clear of the online Sonic community for those four days if they want to avoid spoilers.

Sonic Lost World Trailer 2, Release Date October 22nd

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkUIRi6VCOQ

IGN has just posted the second trailer to Sonic Lost World. The trailer is subtitled ‘colors trailer’ and you don’t need to wait long to find out why that is. Had you no information about Lost World, you would be easilly forgiven for thinking that this was Sonic Colours 2.

The trailer shows a number of new stages and we even hear one of The Deadly Six speak. The trailer has a number of hidden details, if you pay attention you can even spot a cameo in the form of King Boom Boo’s minions. Oh and, if you’re a fan of the Wisps, you’re going to be very happy.

In addition to gameplay details, the trailer also confirms the release date for the North American version. Sonic Lost World will be released on October 22nd. I would imagine that other regions will be around that date as well.

Update: Sonic Lost World Release Date Is Holiday 2013

Sonic Lost World

Update: It would appear that Gonintendo got it wrong. The game does not yet have a firm release date, the only date given is ‘holiday 2013.’

Original Story: According to a Press Release sent to gonintendo.com. Sonic Lost World will be released a lot sooner than expected, on October 13th for both the Wii U and 3DS. Odds are this is the US release since EU games are typically released on a Friday, no news yet on special/limited editions, but we’ll keep you updated if anything new comes.

Report: Sonic Dash Launches on the App Store This Thursday

SonicDash

SEGA weren’t kidding when they said Sonic Dash will be released “soon”, if a report from Pocket Gamer France is to be believed. The website, which revealed a bunch of details about the game on Friday, claims Sonic Dash will be released on the App Store this Thursday. With SEGA only formally unveiling the game today with bare bones details and some artwork, many wouldn’t expect a release so soon. iOS games are often released about two weeks after their announcement and SEGA hasn’t even shown any screenshots or video footage of it.

Looking back, though, SEGA did list it in that Hardlight Studio job advertisement last week as a past success, like the game is complete and ready to go.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed 3DS Delayed Again to Jan/Feb?

Fans looking forward to the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed may have to wait a little longer if updated retailer listings are anything to go by. The game was already delayed a while back in the US to December 11th, while Europe and Australia have been left hanging with no date and SEGA’s website still saying it’s “Out now”, though retailers have been saying December 6th (AU) and December 7th (EU)… until now.

Amazon and GameStop websites in both the US and Europe have updated their listings for S&ASRT 3DS to various dates ranging from January 25th 2013 to February 15th 2013. Could the game be getting delayed again? With an extreme lack of news and media for this version of the game, it wouldn’t be surprising if the game isn’t ready and needs more development time.

We’ll keep our eyes open for an official update and pass on anything we learn.

S&ASR Transformed 3DS & PS Vita Delayed to December?

It looks like there is a reason why we’ve not seen the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita versions of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed – they’re behind schedule. Gaming Age has just been sent a slightly different version of the game’s most recent trailer that lists the handheld versions at the end with a US release date of December 12th 2012. The website says this trailer is part of SEGA’s New York Comic-Con press releases, so we may see this date and maybe more information announced about the handheld releases soon, but the trailer suggests we won’t be seeing footage of them.

Sonic Adventure 2 Available in Europe October 3rd, PC Version Officially Confirmed

SEGA Europe has officially dated the upcoming Sonic Adventure 2 HD port for October 3rd on PSN and XBLA in Europe, one day after the game is released on the US PS Store. The XBLA date is a little odd given that SEGA of America announced an October 5th date for the XBLA version in the US and how Xbox Live updates worldwide, and usually on a Wednesday. Could SOA have made a mistake?

In other news, a PC version has been officially confirmed, but the release date for that platform is unfortunately ‘TBC’. Once a release date is divulged we’ll let you know. With today’s news, SEGA has also released some artwork, which you can view below in our gallery.

In other news, Kebby announced that Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 will be released on the EU PS Store on Wednesday the 16th May for £9.99/€12.99, which is a day later than SEGA Europe has been advertising on their website for a while now (and still is at time of posting).

Rumour: Sonic 4: Episode 2 Due Late 2012?

Sonic fans have been waiting a long time for the second episode of Sonic’s downloadable adventure Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and according to the new issue of GamesMaster magazine released in the UK this week, the wait isn’t anywhere near over. The magazine reports that Episode 2 will be released “Late 2012”, which could see it released over two years after Episode 1. As SEGA themselves haven’t stated anything clearer than “2012” yet, we advise you take this with a grain of salt for now.

Sonic Generations Launching on Nintendo 3DS November 25th in Europe?

Eurogamer Italy reports that SEGA has apparently confirmed a November 25th release for the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations in Europe, which is 21 days later than when the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions launch. The date matches the one European retailers have been listing for the past month or two, but SEGA still list nothing clearer than November 2011 on their website.

We’ve queried the report with SEGA, but have heard nothing back. We’ll let you know when we hear something more official, but right now, November 25th is looking pretty likely.

SEGA has updated their Sonic Generations product page in all territories with their respective release dates for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Though SEGA’s ad at IGN gave it away last month, we now officially know the game will launch in the US on November 1st, and as reported earlier, November 4th in Europe and November 3rd in Australia.

EU
PS3 & Xbox 360: November 4th 2011
3DS: November 2011

US
PS3 & Xbox 360: November 1st 2011
3DS: Late 2011

Although not independently confirmed elsewhere, the banner above, now hosted on Sonic Extreme would certainly indicate these are the launch dates.

Sonic Generations 3DS Reaffirmed For November Release in Europe & Australia

SEGA has updated the Sonic Generations product page on their website and reaffirmed a November release month for the Nintendo 3DS edition of the game in Europe and Australia. This version of the game was scheduled for November in a press release when it was officially announced at the beginning of last month, but their website has only listed a “Late 2011” timetable until now. The 3DS version was also missing from a release schedule SEGA sent out to press early this month, suggesting it may have been delayed. There’s currently nothing on the website that you won’t have already seen before, apart from some hi-res character art spotted around the site, but it does have a cool feature that lets you navigate the entire site with your webcam, much like how you can navigate the Xbox 360 dashboard and in-game menus with Kinect. Sonic Adventure‘s downloadable re-release is now available to Xbox 360 owners from the Xbox Live Marketplace, but in an update on Twitter, SEGA has stated that the PS3 version won’t be hitting the PlayStation Store until next week on September 22nd. A SEGA staff member had previously stated a 15th September release for both versions, so we assume some wires got crossed.

The game is priced at 800 Microsoft Points and weighs in at 1.49GB. If you would like to give it a try before you hand over your points, a trial is also available to download and 10 new screenshots are available to view in the Marketplace too. The game supports online leaderboards and downloadable content, which leaks of the game revealed will be features from Sonic Adventure: DX.
