Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Wins Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favourite Movie 2023

Sonic the Hedgehog’s silver screen adventures just keep on winning, as the 2022 Paramount movie sequel ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ took the prize of ‘Favourite Movie’ at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2023.

The live-action movie, which pits Sonic and Tails against Dr. Robotnik and Knuckles, beat out Hollywood rivals such as ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, ‘Black Adam’, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and others to win the award.

It’s no surprise that the movie won the hearts and minds of kids worldwide, with the movie grossing over $400 million at the box office since its premiere last year. Let’s hope the awards keep on rolling for Paramount and the Sonic movie team!

Sonic 2 Movie Pre-Quill Comic to Have Story Spearheaded by Jim Carrey

So, we’ve known about that Sonic 2 movie “Pre-quill” comic for a little while now, and the comic’s writer Keil Phegley has dropped a few new interesting details. The comic will have 40 pages with five stories focusing on different characters from the movie. Among those stories will be a Robotnik-centered one, featuring contributions by none other than character’s actor himself, Jim Carrey.

It is important to note that Phegley’s exact words for Carrey’s contribution was “spearheading.” Carrey does not have a writer’s credit in the comic solicitation.

The comic will hit comic stores on March 23rd for $6.99, and will feature art by Tracey Yardley!, Adam Bryce Thomas, and Evan Stanley. Quite an all-star time for a Sonic comic! It will feature stories set between the two movies. Check out the full solicitation below:

The Sonic Movie’s Japanese Voice Cast Has Been Revealed

SEGA’s Japanese Twitter account has revealed the names of for voice actors for the upcoming Japanese dub of Paramount’s Sonic movie.

All of these actors are pretty prolific, with long resumes, although none of them have done voice work in previous Sonic products.

Taishi Nakagawa will voice Sonic, Kōichi Yamadera will voice Dr.Robotnik/Eggman, Yuichi Nakamura will voice Sonic’s cop buddy Tom, and Marina Inoue will voice Maddie. While none of them have ever been featured in a Sonic project before, Yamadera did apparently narrate a Sonic Adventure commercial in the nineties!

Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog will be released in the Americas and Europe on February 14, with the Japanese releasing following over a month later on March 27.

From Worst to Best: Why the New Sonic Movie Design Might Be the Best Sonic Design Ever

Early last year, the world saw the first trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and we got our first look at what the blue blur would finally look like on the silver screen. To say that fans, non-fans, and society in general had a very negative reaction to what was shown onscreen would be a gross understatement. From his small eyes, his wide head, pasty-white hands with clawed fingers and human-like proportions, Sonic looked hideous. Practically a monster. Now that we know that baby Sonic is weird, one has to wonder what the character looked like before the redesign.
