Archie delays upcoming Sonic comics again, doesn’t solicit Sonic for May

Fans of Archie’s Sonic comic series will be waiting awhile longer to get their next Sonic comic fix. According to the website Previewsworld, which posts solicitations for upcoming comic books, the next issues of both Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Universe have been delayed again to April and beyond.

Sonic the Hedgehog #291, originally scheduled for late January before being delayed to March 1, then March 22, is now arriving in stores April 26. Sonic Universe #95 will be shipping on April 12, three whole months after the last issue. Of course, these delays have also affected subsequent issues, with Sonic #292 shipping on May 24 and Sonic Universe #96 shipping on May 10.  The solicitations for the remaining issues have yet to be altered, but they will no doubt be changed eventually to reflect these delays.

Today, it seems even these dates may not be set in stone; while in the past Archie has re-solicited delayed comics, their recently released May solicits did not feature any Sonic comics, new or old.

Things have been rocky for Archie’s Sonic comics these last few months. In addition to these delays, subscriptions for the comics became (and remain) unavailable, which we first reported back in January. The exact cause of all this remains unclear, as Archie staff have remained mum throughout all of this.

Sonic Lost World Delayed to October 29th in North America

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TybPUcVVsXc

Above you, we have the North American version of the extended Deadly Six Trailer, showing off the Sonic Lost World antagonists in action… but there’s bad news bears for some.

While this doesn’t affect the October 18th release for eager European fans, SEGA of America has pushed the North American version of the game by another week, widening the gap between both regional releases. This purportedly makes it the last version of the game to be sold on retail, with Australia still getting their mits on Sonic’s Nintendo-exclusive adventure on the 19th Japan still receiving it on the 24th.

That clocks the North American street date of Sonic Lost World to October 29th instead of the previous October 22nd date. Just a quick heads-up before you head into Gamestop to pick up your Deadly Six Edition of the game!

Special thanks to Carbo of the SSMB for the tip.

P.S.: “Bad news is actually the one thing I enjoy…!” Hogfather called it!

S&ASR Transformed PS Vita Out This Friday in Europe, Delayed in US Again?

Retailers have been listing the PS Vita version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed for release in Europe on December 7th 2012 for a while, but now Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycett aka S0L has confirmed the date at our very own SSMB.

I’m waiting for confirmation over on the US side, but the EU Vita version should be out this Friday on the 7th December

A post by SSMB member BlueTidalGamer reporting on his copy being despatched reaffirms this.

My copy of the Vita version has dispatched from ShopTo.

SEGA Europe still hasn’t announced a date and both their website and press site to this day still say it and the 3DS version have been out since November 16th 2012 with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

As for the US, Lycett says in the above quoted post that he’s waiting for confirmation of a release date from SEGA of America. With retailers listing a new date of December 18th 2012, this indicates that the PS Vita version may well not meet its originally announced release date of December 11th 2012, though SEGA of America’s website is still listing that same date.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed 3DS Delayed Again to Jan/Feb?

Fans looking forward to the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed may have to wait a little longer if updated retailer listings are anything to go by. The game was already delayed a while back in the US to December 11th, while Europe and Australia have been left hanging with no date and SEGA’s website still saying it’s “Out now”, though retailers have been saying December 6th (AU) and December 7th (EU)… until now.

Amazon and GameStop websites in both the US and Europe have updated their listings for S&ASRT 3DS to various dates ranging from January 25th 2013 to February 15th 2013. Could the game be getting delayed again? With an extreme lack of news and media for this version of the game, it wouldn’t be surprising if the game isn’t ready and needs more development time.

We’ll keep our eyes open for an official update and pass on anything we learn.

S&ASRT 3DS & Vita Delayed in Europe? Lycett: Nov 16th Release “Unlikely”

With 9 days to go until the game’s Australian release and 10 days until its European release, fans looking to pick up the 3DS and/or PS Vita versions of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed really want to know if the game will see a delayed release like in the US or not. The delay was announced a month ago by SEGA of America, but SEGA Europe hasn’t announced a similar delay here in Europe or Australia. Their European press site, website and recent press releases all still list the handheld versions for a November 16th release.

To clear everything up, Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycett aka S0L has revealed at the SSMB that the team are still working on the handheld versions and so a November 16th release is unlikely. Lycett says they will release slightly later than the console versions.

Given we’re still working on it, 16th November UK release is unlikely. I think SEGA either have or are due to announce the handheld dates over here, they’re slightly later than the home console versions.

Lycett also confirmed that the PC version will release later than the console versions, too.

Again, I can’t say much here, it’s SEGA call to announce dates. All I can say right now is it’s going to after the console release date, but that’s all I can say.

Once SEGA announces release dates for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on 3DS, PS Vita and PC, we’ll let you know.

ASR Steam Release Silently Pushed to March 2nd

What’s the deal with the Steam release?

If you were looking to download the PC version of Sonic and Sonic SEGA Sonic All-Sonic Stars Sonic Racing featuring Sonic yesterday, you might have already seen the date change and have gotten miffed at it.  The game’s Steam profile changed the release date, with no announcement whatsoever, to March 2nd.

Previously, the release date was changed to yesterday, the 25th, from its original release date of the 23rd.  SEGA and Sumo Digital have not acknowledged the delay at this time and many retailers are listing the PC version “out now.”

Sonic World Adventure delayed until Spring 2009

While everyone seems to be jumping up and down about Sonic Unleashed, one thing that seems slightly off is regarding the game’s release date. According to the official Japanese website (the game is called Sonic World Adventure over there),  the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are being held back until Spring 2009. The website states that this is to “improve the game’s quality”, something we’re not exactly against given the known rushings of past Sonic games.

Oddly though, this delay does not affect the Wii version, which is still scheduled for an 18th December launch. This release date confusion follows our report the other day, where we revealed that the European PS3 version won’t be released until December. Reasons were not given for the pushback, but other consoles are as yet unaffected.

AAUK, the Sega Community Manager for Europe, has stressed that the delays in Japan doesn’t mean that the Japanese version will be superior to the others.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams delayed again!

It has been reported by one of the “NiNJAS” at NiGHTSintoDreams.com that NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams has been delayed over a month. It now has a January/February release, with only a few days seperating the release of the game in America and Europe.

Whilst this hasn’t been “officially” confirmed, this source has been spot on accurate in the past. NiGHTS is now a 2008 title, completely missing the Christmas holiday rush, and giving the game an extra month of much needed polish. Continue reading NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams delayed again!

Sonic Rivals 2 release delayed again!?

Last month we saw Sega Europe change the release date of Sonic Rivals from 02/11/07 to 30/11/07 but now they have again changed it on their site to Winter 2007. This is the first Sonic game in a long time to have been given so much delays, could they have big plans for the game or do they simply want to perfect the game? As long as it makes the game better I’m all for it.

In other news Sega Europe have finally changed the release date for the Wii version of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games on their site from Winter 2007 to 23/11/07, so it’s officially official now.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams delay confirmed

It’s been long speculated that NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams for the Wii was going to be delayed at least a month. Going by the date changes at several retail outlets, that appears to be the case.

GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy all have the game listed for a December 18th, 2007 release. The game was originally supposed to see an October release, before an “overhaul” saw the game pushed back to November 13th, 2007. While dates on retail websites are hardly an end all, be all confirmation, a date change like this from several completely different retailers is about as good as an official confirmation from SEGA.

So be sure to mark your calenders, people. Or just pre-order the game from one the links I so graciously provided.

As a side note for our UK readers, Amazon.co.uk has NiGHTS listed for a December 21st, 2007 release, so you might not have to wait quite as long as the rest of Europe, which is scheduled to get the game in early 2008.

Naturally, if the date changes, we’ll make an update about it.

Finally, I would like to apologize for my lack of news updates lately, as I’ve been a bit busy.

NiGHTS release dates confirmed?

I’m sure all of you are well aware of the rumored delay of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams into 2008 in Europe. This news came from a reliable source from NiGHTSintoDreams.com, and has since been all but confirmed by one of my own source, and the boss-man Dreadknux.

However, all these sources confirmed the games delay only for Europe. That is, until now. NiD.com’s same source has now confirmed the release month for the US release is now December, the same month as the game’s Japanese release.

While there is no exact date for the American release, the Japanese release has a December 13th, 2007 street date from SEGA. While no European release date has been given, Amazon Germany has the game listed for a January 11th release.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams delayed?

Rumour: Following on from its great exclusive coverage of Liepzig, fan site NightsIntoDreams.com is reporting that the long-awaited sequel is to be delayed until Spring 2008. The game was on show at last week’s Game Convention in Germany at only 55% completion.

Niraven from outlet GameLegend posts via the NiGHTS fansite that: “We contacted SEGA this morning and spoke with SEGA’s Product and PR Manager and he told us that it’s been officially pushed to Q1 2008. That’s literally “this morning’s news”, and it’s coming from the most credible source it can come from.

SEGA are throwing ‘No Comments’ out all over the place, but a delay wouldn’t sound so ridiculous, considering NiGHTS Into Dreams is considered for many fans as Sonic Team’s last stand — any botching of this title will result in some very disillusioned followers.

TSS thinks that this is really only good news – if nothing else it shows that Sonic Team are taking their good sweet time with this one… hopefully. With NiGHTS we wouldn’t want it any other way, if we get absolute perfection at the end of it.

More on NiGHTS as we snuff out. Stay tuned.

Sonic the Hedgehog suffers another delay

Just as fans of Sonic the Hedgehog had eagerly awaited the launch of Sonic’s newest high definition outing for the XBox 360, they are awaiting the Playstation 3 version in hope that SEGA has patched the coding errors in the game that managed to lessen the gameplay experience on Microsoft’s next generation console. But is the wait really that short? Online journalism website Gamespot seems to disagree.

As a rather ‘last-minute’ update to their Sonic the Hedgehog section for Playstation 3, they have changed the debut date for the Blue Blur’s Sony outing to January 30th, 2007.

Quite a kick in the bollocks for those fans whom camped out for days waiting for Sony’s newest console, however all is not lost – you could always hoard your console with videos to pass away the time. You’ve done most of the deed, now it’s time for the waiting game.

Sonic To Miss PS3 Launch

SEGA America have announced that the PlayStation 3 version of Sonic the Hedgehog will no longer be released in time for the console’s launch, instead being delayed until an unspecified time in “Holiday 2006”.

The reasons for the delay appear to be involving downloadable content for the game, wherein SEGA are said to need more time incorporating this feature into the PS3 version. With the extra time, potential PS3 owners could download items and levels, although SEGA would not confirm just what they have planned for this service.

No mention was made of an alteration to the XBOX 360 version release date, so there is a likelihood that the 360 may still see a November 17th street date for the US. The release date for the game in Europe remains unchanged for November 24th.

Expect The Sonic Stadium to get a massive playtest of the game and to have a special during the launch week where we reveal all about the next generation of blue blur platforming.
