Sonic Lost World (PC) Out Now

lostworldalternateart

Exclusive? What exclusive?

Yesterday, Sonic Lost World was released on PC, breakng that exclusive deal which Sega made with Nintendo a few years ago. The game is more or less the exact same game which came out on the console, however there are one or two major changes.

First of all there is no multiplayer mode, there are no circus tent mini games and the NiGHTS DLC is included in the download and unlocks after you beat the first stage.

Currently priced at £19.99, however if you look around odds are you can find it for slightly cheaper.

So far the response to the game has been very positive. But we’ll probably be doing a review on this version at some point in the near future.

Sonic Lost World Logo

If you live in the UK’s capital city of London and fancy drinking to the surprise PC release of Sonic Lost World, then make sure you clear your schedule this Hallowe’en Saturday. SEGA Europe is hosting a community party in the city’s prominent gaming-themed pub, Loading Bar from 2pm.

The event will give the community a chance to see and play the game running on non-Wii U hardware for the first time before it hits Steam on November 2nd. You’ll be able to play for prizes, win goodie bags on the door (if you’re one of the first to turn up) and meet SEGA Europe’s new community manager, Dan Sheridan.

Tickets are free, but are most likely limited in number, so make sure you grab yourself one at the Eventbrite page. You’ll need to be able to get to Loading Bar (97 Stoke Newington Rd London, London N16 8BX, United Kingdom) on Saturday 31st October 2015 and be 18 years old and over (they serve alcohol there). The party starts at 14:00 and ends at 20:00.

We’re planning to make an appearance there too, so be sure to say hello to Dreadknux & Hogfather on the day too!

Steam Listing Reveals New DLC for Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed!

When you think about it Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed has been out for well over a year… yet it still continues to get support and this includes free additional characters… Thats awesome! Hey videogame industry, this is how you get people to buy your future games!

Anyway…

asrtdlc

It looks like more DLC is on the way if this steam listing appears to be correct. It would appear that Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is to get some new DLC, but whats interesting is that previous character updates have been included in patches and updates, this is the first time that a DLC listing has been made seperately for the title.

Could this be the long rumored petition characters? And will they come to consoles? Erm… I don’t know, I’m not in charge of that stuff.

Stay tuned to TSS for more information as we get it.

General Winter Joins the Cast of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed

generalwinter

Yesterday, Sumo Digitals Steve Lycett began dropping hints that ASRT would be getting a new update. For PC owners, the update has just gone live and… ASRT has a new character, and you will not believe who it is, because it’s technically not a videogame character, or a real person, in fact, if my understanding is correct. It’s a characterised representation of a metaphor.

Let me explain.

The character is called ‘General Winter. Who is General Winter? Well, we need to do a bit of history. In the past, nations have tried and failed to conquer Russia in times of war, famously, Hitler and Napoleon attempted to invade and suffered heavy losses and defeats. Why? Simple. The winter.

Russian winters are notoriously cold. Over the years, as nations have invaded Russia, once the winter hits, their resources and supply lines are heavilly drained and eventually the invading force becomes crippled and has to either retreat or surrender. Hence the name ‘General Winter.’ General Winter is a metaphor, it’s the name given as the reason why well known military leaders in the past have failed to conquer Russia.

Now… in the game Relic game Company of Heroes 2, (Relic being a studio recently purchased by Sega following THQ’s collapse) there is indeed a character called ‘General Winter’ Who is based off this metaphor.

So ASRT’s newest character is from Relics game, who is a characterised incarnation of a metaphor based off a real life phenomenom. When you put it like that it’s simple. Before anyone asks, it would appear that this character is exclusive to the PC version of the game.

In other news, ASRT is free to play this weekend on Steam.

S&ASRT 3DS & Vita Delayed in Europe? Lycett: Nov 16th Release “Unlikely”

With 9 days to go until the game’s Australian release and 10 days until its European release, fans looking to pick up the 3DS and/or PS Vita versions of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed really want to know if the game will see a delayed release like in the US or not. The delay was announced a month ago by SEGA of America, but SEGA Europe hasn’t announced a similar delay here in Europe or Australia. Their European press site, website and recent press releases all still list the handheld versions for a November 16th release.

To clear everything up, Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycett aka S0L has revealed at the SSMB that the team are still working on the handheld versions and so a November 16th release is unlikely. Lycett says they will release slightly later than the console versions.

Given we’re still working on it, 16th November UK release is unlikely. I think SEGA either have or are due to announce the handheld dates over here, they’re slightly later than the home console versions.

Lycett also confirmed that the PC version will release later than the console versions, too.

Again, I can’t say much here, it’s SEGA call to announce dates. All I can say right now is it’s going to after the console release date, but that’s all I can say.

Once SEGA announces release dates for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on 3DS, PS Vita and PC, we’ll let you know.

Sonic Adventure 2 Available in Europe October 3rd, PC Version Officially Confirmed

SEGA Europe has officially dated the upcoming Sonic Adventure 2 HD port for October 3rd on PSN and XBLA in Europe, one day after the game is released on the US PS Store. The XBLA date is a little odd given that SEGA of America announced an October 5th date for the XBLA version in the US and how Xbox Live updates worldwide, and usually on a Wednesday. Could SOA have made a mistake?

In other news, a PC version has been officially confirmed, but the release date for that platform is unfortunately ‘TBC’. Once a release date is divulged we’ll let you know. With today’s news, SEGA has also released some artwork, which you can view below in our gallery.

Sonic Generations Retains 25th Position in the UK Chart

Despite a full week of sales for the Nintendo 3DS and retail PC versions, Sonic Generations has failed to move higher in the UK Top 40 All Formats chart this week and instead retained its position at no.25. In the Top 30 PS3 chart, the game held on to its place at no.13, while in the Top 40 Xbox 360 chart it stepped up two places from no.21 to no.19. In the Top 10 Nintendo 3DS chart and Top 20 PC chart, it’s not good news, as Sonic Generations has fell from no.4 to no.8 in the former and dropped off the latter completely.

However, it’s good news for Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, with the Wii game having moved up two places from no.13 to no.11 in the Top 40 All Formats chart and retaining its no.2 spot in the Top 30 Wii chart.

Those who have played Sonic Generations may have heard about the game’s hidden Statue Room and the code system used to unlock the statues. Well, in an update to their official Sonic Generations website, SEGA’s revealed that you can obtain a code at posh UK retailer Marks & Spencer which will unlock exclusive statues. It’s unknown if you need to purchase anything to obtain the code right, though. We’ll update when we know more.

SEGA has also offered the below instructions about the Statue Room for those new to it.

Head to the Collection Room in Sonic Generations™ – it’s located to the left of the Green Hill Stage Gate in the White Space.
When you’re in the Collection Room, press and hold SELECT (PS3™) or BACK (Xbox 360®), and Sonic will drop down to the Statue Room. You can return to the Collection Room by jumping on the Spring in the Statue Room.

How to enter the code
To unlock your statue, press SELECT (PS3™) or BACK (Xbox 360®) and enter your code.
Hey presto, you have a new statue!

Viewing your statue collection
To view your statue collection, push up on the left stick and you’ll go into “Viewing” mode. You can then use the left stick to rotate your statue. To go back, press the CIRCLE (PS3™) or B (Xbox 360®) button.

You can find your nearest Marks & Spencer store over at their website.

SEGA Re-opens Sonic Generations Website

In a very odd move, SEGA has re-opened its Sonic Generations website today, which, as you know, is the day of the console version’s release in the US, making that half of the website at least, redundant. Even weirder is the fact that nothing has been added to it since we last saw it about a month ago, apart from the recent trailers. Stages for both the console/PC and 3DS versions are still locked out, despite the console version’s release and almost all of the 3DS version’s levels already being revealed.

You can find the site at this link.
