Sonic Paradox Debuts “Sonic Seconds,” a New Series of Shorts

Sonic Paradox Reclaims Their Old YouTube Channel, Only for Eggman to Hijack It

sonicparadoxchannelreturns
Alternatively: Sonic Paradox got its old channel back, and uploaded a fun little Eggman animation to celebrate! Watch it below!

Around a year and a half ago, longtime Sonic fan animation community Sonic Paradox had its collective YouTube channel hacked into and stolen.  Hopes of reclaiming their old network would fade with Google technical support not being of any help, and a backup channel was made from that point on.

Thanks to their YouTube partner over the course of the past few months, however everything is now right as rain again: Sonic Paradox has its old channel back!

Well, almost. Rotund evil genius Doctor Eggman just took control of the recently reclaimed Sonic Paradox channel while the staff busied themselves with undoing the damage caused by the original hacker; with their attention focused elsewhere, Robotnik announced his plans to overthrow the Sonic Paradox “dictatorship” and start a new series of Robotnik Shorts. His plan goes about as well as you’d expect, but don’t take my word for it: give it a watch below and see for yourself!

As for what will happen to the videos on Sonic Paradox’s backup YouTube channel, widescreen HD remasters of the original Sonic Shorts Volumes (plus the Knuckles Briefs!), they will be reuploaded onto their reclaimed channel in due time. The backup account, in the future, will instead cater more to livestreaming.

Be sure to subscribe to the returned Sonic Paradox YouTube channel for hilarious Sonic shorts and more in the future!

Sonic Paradox Turns 10 Years Old! We React!

Every Monday, we upload a new video to our “Sonic Reacts” series. Members of the community sit and watch some weird and wonderful things and share their reaction with you the audience. We don’t usually post about these, but today’s is a very special edition.

^D5F25E49986C65A63A7A8DC0F83A4622261AB86D50578C14EA^pimgpsh_fullsize_distrYep, it has been ten glorious years since the inception of Sonic Paradox, so for today’s episode we (and two members of Sonic Paradox) watch back some of the best content to come from the Paradox team.

The Sonic Show have always been big fans of the S.P group. We debuted the “Knuckles Briefs” collection in 2009. And worked with a variety of their animators, including PiggyBank and The Wax. Not to mention Donnie. Never forget “The Don™”.

So here is to 10 more insane years of comedy and creativity from Sonic Paradox! Keep it up guys!

Freak-Out Friday: ParadoxPowerPlays Syobon Action with ShadowRemix

This particular Freak-Out Friday was a long time coming.

Syobon Action, also known as Cat Mario or Neko Mario, is a notoriously difficult platformer which parodies the original Super Mario Bros from the NES era. It’s cheap in the worst possible manner, it plays dirty, it betrays every convention of the platforming genre…

…and it makes for awesome cases of schadenfreude. One brilliant example right from the community!

Cue the folks at ParadoxPowerPlays, who have decided to tackle this unholy monster! ShadowRemix (from SS:R’s radio affiliate SonicRadio) takes on the many abominations littered throughout the game, as CelestOrion, SSF1991, and Cosmic_Eternity poke fun at his every failure for Rage Night – Syobon Action!

Brotherhoods, Werehogs, and Paradoxes – The Animations of Summer of Sonic 2013

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpkal5PplVU

“Aha!” is right!

We’ve managed to provide a steady stream of content coming from Summer of Sonic 2013. Be it the interviews we’ve held with Takashi Iizuka and Metal Sonic creator Kazuyuki Hoshino, the exclusive Lost World trailer or the Special Effects auction, there’s still one crucial piece we have yet to cover – the fan-made animations!

Presented throughout the day, these four works were showcased on the main stage, starting off with the Sonic the Comic-themed intro Boozerman and The Sonic Show provided above.

In order of appearance!

First up is one of two projects the folks at Sonic Paradox put together for the occasion, this one being a follow-up to last year’s Sonic Heroes music video-slash-parody-slash-tribute, Seaside Denied! With Eggman’s forces scattered throughout Grand Metropolis, join Teams Sonic (792Ashman), Dark (Whitesonic), Rose (RGX), and Chaotix (TheWax) once more as they tear through the HEXAeco city in their latest musical romp, Metropolis Mayhem!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSj7yRyPWaQ

Lyrics by Recorderdude, Dr. Mack Foxx, and Aaraboga. Credits scene animated by KaDoYuu!

As Eggman pulls a fast one on the Blue Blur and unleashes yet another monster of the week, it’s up to a lycanthropic Sonic and his amnesiac best friend to save the world! Featuring the voice works of GameBuddy, Psyguy, CrikeyDave, Kirbopher, Euan Kennedy and Mana the Dark Magician Girl, second in line is the newest entry to Frobman‘s In Brief series – Sonic Unleashed in Brief!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsAKCsWawl0

And now, the motherload, and this one was a long time coming. Now online in its entirety, featuring a slew of shorts not shown at Summer of Sonic (as well as the final short in all of its uncensored glory), is a project many thought would never see the light of day. Wait no longer, for the animation community at Sonic Paradox has finally unveiled the fruits of their labour after almost three years in the making! Without further ado, here’s the latest entry to their trademark short compilations – Sonic Shorts Volume 8!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co4IsJG12AU

After 5 years of gut-busting hilarity, it’s been a damn good run for the Sonic Shorts series, to which I can now say “Good night, sweet prince” – for the time being. All the best to Sonic Paradox with their future projects.

Bring on the SEGA Shorts!

Freak-Out Friday: S3&K.exe with ParadoxPowerPlays

We’ve had a few Sonic oddballs brought to us by ParadoxPowerPlays (Sonic Paradox’s gaming channel) for Freak-Out Friday. With the Kaizo Trap CelestOrion accidentally set upon himself in Metropolis Zone to playing All Blanks Racing Transformed, the fun doesn’t end there!

The gang recently attempted another playthrough of Sonic 3 & Knuckles… but accidentally got the game running with CPU at 100% usage. Complete with commentary and messed up sound beyond belief, we’ve got the first two parts for your viewing pleasure right here! Watch as CelestOrion, Cosmic_Eternity, WhiteSonic, Dr. Mack Foxx, SSF1991, ShadowRemix, Recorderdude and Duskye tackle the perils of Devil Island for this week’s Freak-Out Friday!

Freak-Out Friday: Sonic Lost World’s Parkour Engine

You know what I’m looking forward to the most in Sonic Lost World ? …well, besides the fact that Sonic and Eggman are teaming up?

The parkour-inspired gameplay! Going nuts over massive stages however you please! Running along walls, climbing up to new routes, that sorta thing! Just thinking of the endless possibilities forgive me in clearing a single level gets my mouth watering~!

So, how do you define parkour anyway…?

par·kour [pahr-koor, -kawr, -kohr]
noun
Internet sensation of 2004; art of moving from point A to point B as creatively as possible.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prJdHUs6Qn8

So, technically, Sonic is doing parkour… as long as point A is delusion, and point B is the hospital.

Freak-Out Friday: A Sucky No Choosing Day

Did you ever have the misfortune of watching a single episode of an anime called Aoi Sekai no Chuushin de? The show that retold the Nintendo vs. SEGA console war with a feudal fantasy twist (which, in concept, sounded like a pretty cool idea)? Those of us who did were pretty hyped for it when news first broke; we marked our calendars for the premiere and waited, thinking of what possible wonders would await us in this series…

…and then the first episode came out. Expectations dashed, everyone goes home. Turns out that Aoi Sekai is more “Oppai-Oppai” in quality than “Opa-Opa”, if you catch my drift…

To give you a better idea of this show’s terribadness and to save you the trouble of looking the series up (no, really, you’re welcome), here’s an abridged version of the first episode! Put together by Cyberlink420, the guy behind the Sonic F series, here is the appropriately titled A Sucky No Choosing Day!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp5KwVJxJdg

Psst: if you guys enjoyed watching Cyberlink writhe in pain as much as I did, nag him about Episode 2!

Freak-Out Friday: A Date to DINE For…

If you remember MarkandFlops from his animation style in Sonic Paradox’s Seaside Denied, you’re in for a real treat, for what is arguably the best scene in Sonic Adventure 2 is now even better!

…come on, you remember that one, right? No?

Maybe showing Nick’s enhanced version of the meeting will jog your memory!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ixd2q7lzvI

To be fair, Sonic did warn him. Shadow could’ve gotten away… now he’s naught but a sinking cadaver. That is how it went, right?

AND SPEAKING OF CADAVERS…

The Sound Check with Dr. Mack Foxx

It’s Saturday night! Time for music!

Now, some would call me out on bias due to me being a pianist, but I would sometimes find myself enjoying piano renditions of Sonic tunes as some of the best things ever. So, for this week, that’s exactly what we’ve got for you!

One of a team of two, this week’s guest on the Sound Check has been covering Sonic music for quite some time already! They’ve been featured once before on Sound Test Saturday as well! With EspioKaos’ MIDIs, this man has breathed new life into old tunes through one of my favourite instrumentations around, and together they have brought over 50 tracks to the table! So, please welcome to the Sound Check from Sonic Paradox…

Freak-Out Friday: Sonic Manga Madness Episode 1!

It’s common knowledge that Sonic has delved into many forms of media outside of his home territory, like numerous other gaming franchises. We have seen Sonic on television through 4 entirely different shows, we all listen to Sonic music, we’ll be seeing Sonic in theatres this fall, we own Sonic merchandise… Although we know of Sonic through comics, how many of us have ever even seen Sonic in manga? It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that none of you know of any, seeing as Sonic manga were never published outside of Japan!

Two such manga are known, one being the slapstick Dash & Spin; Super Fast Sonic!!, featured on CoroCoro Comic. And, thanks to the combined efforts of Recorderdude and Dr. Mack Foxx from Sonic Paradox, we will be checking out the manga’s first chapter today!

I present to you all: Sonic Manga Madness: Episode 1!

The Summer of Sonic 2012 Shorts!

From SoS’12, we managed to bring you the Crush 40 concert, the Club Sonic setlist, NiGHTS’ and Reala’s unveiling in S&ASRT, as well as a contest to win some goodies (just closed!), but there’s one thing we’re missing: the shorts! To those who haven’t had the chance to see them up front and live: no need to fret! As of yesterday, all shorts featured have been uploaded!

A total of three animations were featured in front of a live audience. First up is Shadow the Hedgehog in Brief, followed by Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 in Brief, both parodies handled by Frobman, who previously animated Ring Energy’s Before the Machine and Sonic Heroes in Brief, the latter having been made for Summer of Sonic 2011. Though some would say they’re parodies, some would say both shorts depict each game as is… but that’s for you to decide!

The third and final animation is brought to you by Sonic Paradox! Instead of going with Shorts, the team took a more different route through Sonic Heroes with a music video. With Recorderdude on lyrics, Seaside Denied is split between four animators to handle the four different teams with numerous singers and voice actors, poking fun at every opportunity at both the game itself and the Paradox’s signature Shorts.

Enjoy!

TitansCreed Interviews Sonic Paradox in New Community Spotlight

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq_Stqbwynw

Prominent Sonic community interviewer TitansCreed is best known for his rather interesting and insightful Community Spotlight discussions at Sonic Wrecks. With this, his latest interview, TC goes for the multimedia angle – in more ways than one. Not only is this a recorded audio chat on a YouTube video player, but the interviewees in question happen to be none other than flash animation studio Sonic Paradox.

Listen to TC chat with the members of this hilarious troupe, known for their comical antics with the Sonic Shorts and various other spoof animations. #33 Sonic Paradox Presents: Knuckles Briefs!

The Sonic Show is PREMIERING Knuckles Briefs? Great… but what on earth is that?!

Knuckles Briefs is a collab created by all of you’re favourite (or more likely, hated) Sonic characters. Knuckles is fed up of the attention brought to Sonic through the acclaimed series, ‘Sonic Shorts’ and has decided to have his own collection of “briefs”.

But seriously, what the hell is it?

Knuckles Briefs is collection of hilarious shorts by the Sonic Paradox team. Sonic Paradox are known for many things in the community, most notable being the Sonic Shorts and Sonic Tribute collections. This flash was created for the Summer Of Sonic event, however unfortunately never made it’s appearence on the day. But fret not as we can finally share it with you here!

Sonic Paradox… sounds familiar.

I should hope so, Sonic  Paradox has been around since 2006, though the first collaboration was the “Tribute Collab 1″ back in 2005. Their forum was created by Lilmario and The Wax created the main site. The first project was started by Sweet_Kat22 from Newgrounds. She, however, has moved on from Sonic Paradox.

When Sweet_Kat22 dropped down from being leader, HyperactiveYouth (known for Sonic: Uncut 1, 2 and 3) stepped in, becoming the 2nd leader in charge of Sonic Tribute Collab 2. However, due to development hell, HyperactiveYouth stepped down as well and their longest in service member, Bit-Master, became the 3rd leader. Due to slow progress, he stepped down from being leader to co-leader with their current leader, The Wax (known for Full Metal Sonic, Sonic Halo, and Sonic: Dark Chaos, and a variety of shorts). The Wax is the creator of the Sonic Short Volumes you all know and love.

Watch “Sonic Shorts: Volume 5!”

Front paged on Newgrounds is the fifth installment in Sonic Paradox’s “Sonic Shorts” series, a flash comedy series with plenty of inside jokes for the avid Sonic fan.  This episode jams twenty-one shorts into one fun package.  The menu is really fuckin’ awesome to watch, too.  I just about died at the “lol jetboots” portion of the menu.  Who at SEGA came up with those damn things?

sonicshortsknuxyes

The new meme of 2009. Right here.

Skits include another trip to the Olympic games, why Sonic can’t swim (again), a peak into the lives of badniks, Sonic’s reactions to people confusing him as Shadow, and the destruction of Sonic X.

Chris Thorndike should get his own TV show.  Srsly, guys.  Srsly.

Community Interview: Sonic Paradox

sonicparadox

TSS is bringing back community interviews (omg more exclusive content)!  Aside from speaking with specific individuals, I’ll be talking to the heads of Sonic communities that you may not of heard of in “Know Your Sonic Sites.”  Today’s featured community is Sonic Paradox, a Sonic site that specializes in Sonic flash animation.  I’ll be interviewing one of its staff members, RGXSuperSonic.  Yeah, he’s my flash man for Nexus.  I’m playing it safe for the first one and, plus, I never heard of Paradox until he joined the team.  Time to feed my curiosity!
