SEGA Europe has released a new trailer for their upcoming port of classic Mega CD/SEGA CD title Sonic CD. Like the last trailer, this one teases a connection to the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 saga, but doesn’t give any new hints away. There’s also still no clearer release date than ‘Late 2011’.

Sonic Generations PC Box Art Revealed, Not a Games For Windows Title

UPDATE: Our commenters have informed us that SEGA’s non-Games For Windows retail PC games usually support Steam, so this one likely will too. We’ll let you know when we get confirmation.

Original article:
UK retailers Amazon and Zavvi have revealed the box artwork for the Europe exclusive retail PC version of Sonic Generations, which, as you can see, is the same as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. The box art confirms that the retail version will not be a Games For Windows title, meaning players won’t be able to unlock achievements through Windows Live and likely won’t be able to obtain any possible DLC. Achievements have already been confirmed for the Steam download version.

On the plus side, Zavvi.com has the retail PC version priced at just £14.85 at the time of this article’s publication. Bargain!

Gaming Clerks’ Sonic Generations Preview Shows Death Egg Robot Boss

German gaming website Gaming Clerks has released a nearly 12 minute long video preview of the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC version of Sonic Generations. In the video we see another playthrough of Classic Sonic’s Sky Sanctuary stage, as well as Green Hill Zone. Most interesting, though, is what we see at the 08:50 mark – the previously teased Death Egg Robot boss battle.

Digital Retailer Reveals Sonic Generations PC Specs

"PC Version?! What PC Version? You're crazy! Heh-heh."

“PC Version? What PC version?! You’re crazy! Heh, heh. ‘GULP!'”

If pre-orders on Steam and Direct2Drive weren’t enough, digital game retailer GreenManGaming  is now showing a listing – with specifications – for the upcoming Sonic Generations. Now, you can’t put up specs for a game unless there’s an actual game to put up specs for! So for now, consider the game officially unofficially confirmed. As far as those specs go, I don’t think your $400 laptop will be handling it. Sorry.

Minimum Requirements
Microsoft Windows 7/Vista/XP Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 (2×2.0GHz) or AMD equivalent 2GB RAM (Windows 7/XP)/3GB RAM (Windows Vista) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 / ATI Radeon HD 2900 11 GB free hard drive space

Recommended Requirements
Microsoft Windows 7 Intel Core i5 @ 2.66 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.0 GHz 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 / ATI Radeon HD 5850 11 GB free hard drive space

Now to sit back and wait for Sonic Retro to hack the game into pieces. 😉 Can’t wait to see what folks do with the game engine.

Sonic Generations PC Still On The Way?

Though still not officially confirmed by SEGA, it appears a PC version of Sonic Generations may still be on the way. GAME and their retail partners GameStation and Gameplay are all now listing a PC version for pre-order, which is down for a November 4th release with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. GAME had listed it before, but later removed it, and Gameplay had previously listed it for an October release, but have updated it today to a November 4th release.

Until July, there was plenty of evidence suggesting a PC version of Sonic Generations is in the works, but we’ve seen or heard nothing since, and SEGA has still not officially announced the game for that format. With the game’s release just two months away, we should hopefully receive official word soon… if the PC version does exist, of course.

SEGA E-mail Reveals Sonic Generations For PC For The Umpteenth Time

The amount of evidence for a PC version of Sonic Generations is getting beyond ridiculous now. This latest entry comes from fansite Sonic The Hedgehog Next News, who last week sent an e-mail to SEGA Spain to ask if Sonic Generations will be coming to PC, to which they responded with a list of platforms, and yes, that list included PC among the already confirmed PS3, Xbox 360 and 3DS platforms. It appears the PC version is all but officially confirmed.

Latest SEGA Europe Release Schedule Lists Sonic Generations For PC, 3DS Version Delayed?

The evidence for a PC version of Sonic Generations is really mounting up. SEGA Europe has issued a schedule for their upcoming game releases through 2011 and into 2012. Sonic Generations is down for the already known release month of November for PS3, Xbox 360 and…PC? It appears SEGA may have let the cat out of the bag again for the PC version of the game, surprising no one. What IS surprising though is the absence of the Nintendo 3DS version. SEGA Europe’s website also has no month scheduled for the portable version and instead lists it for a Late 2011 release, even though it was previously given a November release month. Could the 3DS version of Sonic Generations be getting released slightly later than the home console (and possible PC) versions?

Here’s SEGA Europe’s full release schedule:

* Virtua Tennis 4 – 8th July 2011 (PC)
* Captain America: Super Soldier – 15th July 2011 (Multi)
* CRUSH3D – 9th September 2011 (3DS)
* Rise of Nightmares (Kinect) – September 2011 (X360)
* Shinobi – September 2011 (3DS)
* House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut – 28th October 2011 (PS3)
* Sonic Generations – November 2011 (PS3, X360, PC)
* Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games – November 2011 (Wii)
* Anarchy Reigns – January 2012 (PS3, X360)
* Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games – February 2012 (3DS)
* Binary Domain Shooter – Early 2012 (PS3)
* Aliens: Colonial Marines – Spring 2012 (PS3, X360, PC)
* London 2012 – The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games – 2012 (PS3, X360, PC)
* Thor Action Adventure – TBC (3DS)
* Virtua Tennis 4 – TBC (PSVita)

We’ll pass along any further details regarding both stories when they’re made available.

Sonic Generations Beta Pops Up On Steams Registry

Add one more big piece of evidence to the “all but confirmed” pile. NeoGAF member DrKirby found this bit of evidence of a Sonic Generations Beta registered to Steam earlier today. This helps prove that there’s a PC version of Sonic Generations being tested currently. Of course, until Sega confirms it themselves it still remains rumor for now.

Sonic Generations 3DS & PC Listings Removed, Cream the Rabbit Teased

SEGA has now removed the Nintendo 3DS and PC versions of Sonic Generations that were listed in SEGA Sammy’s earnings report May 17th. NeoGAF member Shiggy, who admins claim is very reliable, says retail sources have also been informed about this by SEGA. Now this could mean that the listings were an error or it could be SEGA patching a leak. Hopefully SEGA will speak out on this soon.

In others news, Cream the Rabbit’s Japanese voice actress Sayaka Aoki has revealed on her blog that she has been recording some voice work for Sonic Generations and posted the above image.

Here’s a Google translation of the blog entry:

We have been recording a new Sonic game!

Cute as ever grinded in Cream ♪

Chocolate ice cream with Itadai until after recording,
Kanamaru’s behind me is (Sonic’s), and
Be able to talk to you a long time,
Recording was fun!

All means for your interest ~ ♪

From this we can only assume that Cream the Rabbit will be one of Sonic’s friends Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka said would be appearing in Sonic Generations’ story.

The Dreamcast Collection will be available for Xbox 360, PC and PC Download on February 25th 2011 in Europe and February 22nd in North America, February 24th in Australia and February 25th in New Zealand. It seems PS3 owners will have to stick to the individual releases on PlayStation Network.

Alternatively, take over as intergalactic news reporter Ulala in Space Channel 5: Part 2 and dance your way past the evil Rhythm Rogues, or make it all about speed in Sonic’s first Dreamcast outing, Sonic Adventure!

MANY UK Retailers Listing Crazy Cheap Prices For ASR Wii & DS

UPDATE: It turns out MANY UK retailers are listing both the Wii and DS versions at very cheap prices, we can now assume this isnt a pricing error. We’ve edited the original story below to reflect this update. /UPDATE END

Many UK retailer sites are listing very crazy cheap prices for the DS and non-wheel bundle Wii version of Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing. As of the time of this article’s publication retailers are listing both versions anywhere between £17.73 and £17.99. This could be a pricing error as the Wii version was originally listed at around £29.99 and DS at around £22.99 but its hard to believe all of these retailers would list the same error. As usual alot of the sites offer Free Delivery too to put the icing on this bargain cake. If you want the PC version cheap, HMV and Gameplay have got you covered at £12.99.

I for one have cancelled my £22.95 DS pre-order with Zavvi and re-ordered at the cheaper price, I’ll let you know if anything changes but if you want the game cheap now would be a good time to jump in and place an order.

SEGA Announce Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing!

segaracin

Well, you’ve been waiting for this one folks!

SEGA have just announced the follow up to last year’s SEGA All-Star’s Tennis with their new title: SEGA All-Star’s Racing! Once again the huge line up of famous faces from SEGA’s past are pitted against each other on the race course for some high-octane action! Don’t expect to be confined to the ground though! It looks like anything goes in this racer, with the line up of vehicles including cars, planes and…bananas?

The game looks set to include the obvious multiplayer title, but with a few twists, as Gary Knight, European Marketing Manager at SEGA states: The team have pushed the boundaries on what you would normally expect and created a different and unique party racing title whereby you really can’t take anything for granted!”

The game looks set for an early 2010 release, and will be heading to the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, XBox 360, PC and Nintendo DS!

Be sure to head over to the Official Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Website to watch the trailer, read up on the game and see some nice flashy in-game screenshots!

So, the next question is, which characters will be making it into the game, and what will they be driving?

Personally, I’m hoping for Big the cat in the Froggy Mobile…

Sonic ’06: PC Release Confusion

If you’ve been reading many gaming websites or magazines (here and here) lately, you’d be forgiven for thinking that SEGA/THQ and plenty of reputable magazines had confirmed a PC release of Sonic the Hedgehog 06.

Fan ‘theshadowofsonic’ wrote to SEGA Europe asking when the PC version may be released after realising it hadn’t hit store shelves. Both a Finnish magazine and Finnish store website had stated 28th Feb 2007 as the release date, with the former saying it was confirmed by SEGA.

The response received, as many SSMB’ers probably know by now, was as follows:

I’m afraid that at this time there are no plans for a PC version of Sonic the Hedgehog. I have seen this advertised on a few sites but I’m afraid that the information is not accurate.Continue reading Sonic ’06: PC Release Confusion
