Sonic Lost World is racing onto Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS systems at the end of this week in Europe, and it appears even with mere days to go there’s still a few surprises in store – one of which being that the Deadly Six Edition, once believed to be a retail exclusive pre-order bonus, will now be offered via the Wii U eShop for a limited time as well!
The news comes courtesy of Official Nintendo Magazine, who have posted Nintendo’s schedule for this week’s eShop releases – with Sonic leading the pack as the headline title. With regards to the Deadly Six Edition, the following statement is made:
You can receive download codes for the additional level available in the Deadly Six Edition and five Black Bomb colour powers if you purchase Sonic Lost World from Nintendo eShop on your Wii U between 00:01 (UK time) on 18 October and 23:59 (UK time) on 27 October.
So, if you download Sonic Lost World from the Wii U eShop by 27th October, you’ll get the NiGHTMARE DLC and five Black Bomb Wisps as an added bonus!
Sonic Lost World will cost £39.99 to download on the Wii U and £34.99 on 3DS. Will you be buying them digitally when they launch in Europe on Friday?

Sonic Lost World is the game that just keeps on giving! On top of what looks to be a title already packed with content, we also have the Deadly Six Edition for Wii U containing DLC inspired by NiGHTS into Dreams… and now, thanks to UK retailer ShopTo, it looks like we have even more extra goodies to look forward to as well!
ShopTo recently made the below announcement on their Facebook page:
Sonic Lost World Deadly Six Edition on WiiU now comes with another 2 DLC codes!
The first one includes 5 Black Bombs Colour Powers to devastate your enemies five times over. The second includes a Rare Omochao RC Gadget, a chao-tastic way to help out Sonic. This title already comes with the NiGHTMARE DLC pack, which contains an extra level with enemies inspired by the Sega Saturn classic NiGHTS into Dreams, meaning you’ll get 3 DLC codes in total!
So, on top of NiGHTS-themed boss battles, we also have a golden Omochao RC and five uses of the Black Bomb Wisp to download on release day. You can pre-order Sonic Lost World: Deadly Six Edition at ShopTo for £32.86 by clicking here.
Thanks to SSMB member Phil Collins for pointing this out!
UPDATE: US retailer GameStop are also offering a similar bonus DLC offer, however there is no mention of the Black Bomb Wisp and it advertises an Omochao inspired by Sonic himself rather than the golden one ShopTo are giving away. Looks like there’s some region-exclusive DLC being distributed! Thanks to SSMB member Sonic CD for the heads up!
UPDATE #2: Hot off the press… there’s yet another pre-order bonus if you get the game from a different retailer, in this case Amazon.com! This one’s a little less exciting though – 25 extra lives. Still, a free bonus is a bonus, and you never know when some 1-ups might come in handy!

Well this came out of nowhere!
A new update for Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed just went live on the PC version of the game which includes a new character!
He’s called Willemus and he appears to be from Segas Rome 2: Total War, which is due for release later this year. It’s doubtful that this character will make it to the consoles since Rome 2 is a PC exclusive game, though it does make you wonder if any other Sega games will see inclusion into this game following so soon after Company Of Heroes’ General Winter.

Yesterday, Sumo Digitals Steve Lycett began dropping hints that ASRT would be getting a new update. For PC owners, the update has just gone live and… ASRT has a new character, and you will not believe who it is, because it’s technically not a videogame character, or a real person, in fact, if my understanding is correct. It’s a characterised representation of a metaphor.
Let me explain.
The character is called ‘General Winter.‘ Who is General Winter? Well, we need to do a bit of history. In the past, nations have tried and failed to conquer Russia in times of war, famously, Hitler and Napoleon attempted to invade and suffered heavy losses and defeats. Why? Simple. The winter.
Russian winters are notoriously cold. Over the years, as nations have invaded Russia, once the winter hits, their resources and supply lines are heavilly drained and eventually the invading force becomes crippled and has to either retreat or surrender. Hence the name ‘General Winter.’ General Winter is a metaphor, it’s the name given as the reason why well known military leaders in the past have failed to conquer Russia.

Now… in the game Relic game Company of Heroes 2, (Relic being a studio recently purchased by Sega following THQ’s collapse) there is indeed a character called ‘General Winter’ Who is based off this metaphor.
So ASRT’s newest character is from Relics game, who is a characterised incarnation of a metaphor based off a real life phenomenom. When you put it like that it’s simple. Before anyone asks, it would appear that this character is exclusive to the PC version of the game.
In other news, ASRT is free to play this weekend on Steam.

Update: More clues have been found at the Steam Forums. See below for full details…
Sumo Digitals Steve Lycett (Aka S0L) has done an awesome job keeping fans updated about ASRT’s development and providing support to fans long after the games release. As well as dropping a few hints and teases that additional content might be in the works for the game. Well… a few hours ago S0L posted the following on the Sega forums in a topic entitled ‘Any News on DLC?’
So tomorrow will be interesting. For a number of reasons. Better pack my flame proof suit…
In other posts made by S0L over at the Steam forums, S0L has dropped other hints.
Скоро зима (If you run this one through google translate, you get ‘winter is coming’)
Is it me, or is it getting really cold all of a sudden. I wonder what tomorrow will bring…
In addition to this, several people who own the PC version of ASRT have noted that there has recently been a number of changes made to that game which would indicate an update is on the way. Could it be that we might finally get that DLC news we’ve been waiting for? Let the speculation begin!

GAME will be the exclusive carrier of the Sonic Generations Casino Night pre-order bonus DLC previously revealed by U.S. retailer GameStop. Emerald Coast founder Vger spotted the above display in his local GAME store today, which reads “Sonic Generations Exclusive Stage Pack when you pre-order and purchase”. The Casino Night Zone pinball mini-game image shown on GameStop’s website is also on display, so this will likely be the exact same package.
The full contents of the pack offered by GameStop includes:

We’re just over a day late, but forgive us as this news was unexpected and came completely out of left field; it was even missing from the PS Store Update blog entry at the Official EU PS Blog. Looking at the EU PS Store, you’ll now find SEGA Europe yesterday FINALLY released the final two pieces of downloadable content for Sonic Unleashed on the PlayStation 3, content that Xbox Live and other territories PS Stores got June 12th last year, namely the Mazuri Adventure Pack and the Adabat & Empire City Adventure Pack. The packs cost £2.39 each, with the Mazuri pack containing four daytime and two nighttime stages, and the Adabat & Empire City pack containing five daytime stages and four nighttime stages.
Any EU PS3 version owners out there glad to finally see this? Let us know in the comments.

After returning from a holiday in Japan (welcome back) Steve Lycett Executive Producer at Sumo Digital has begun his community support in the SEGA/Sonic community forums again and today revealed the current stance on future downloadable content for Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing in a post at the SSMB.
Yep, you’ve missed one. Switch the leaderboards to Local only and then play through the tracks, if any have the ‘Staff Ghost’ racing on them, you need to beat it still. If it says ‘Sumo Ghost’ you’ve beaten the default ghost and can skip that one.
On the update, ta for that Mr. Casanova. Pretty much as I expected really
Someone else has a Ryo Forklift toy then? We got ours the other day, I was expecting something… nicer! Still, can’t complain, it’s now in our trophy cabinet – boxed up and never to be opened. Ours also didn’t come with a number painted on it. So therefore I can only assume it’s 1/1000 and Doctor Eggmans’s is 2/1000. You can quote me on that
Future DLC is all up to SEGA now. They’ve put out all the bits we’ve done, personally I think they’ll now look to see how the existing stuff goes and decide if they want some more. Not seen any figures yet, but then I’m only nicely getting back into the groove!

So it looks like the ball is in SEGA’s court as to whether future DLC will happen, currently for the game fans can buy Ryo Forklift and a Metal Sonic & Death Egg pack. Outside of the game Xbox 360 fans can buy Avatar items and a Premium Dashboard theme, there were reports of a PS3 Premium Theme being released on the 22nd April but that never appeared. Will sales of the current DLC be good enough to peek SEGA’s interest? Only time will tell and if we hear anything we’ll let you know.

UPDATE 5: From AAUK at the SSMB –
Re: Refunds – Yes I’m asking about that, don’t worry. My first concern was that.

UPDATE: We’ve just got word that the patch allows Banjo & Kazooie to be used by the CPU players. Thanks go to FireKingX at the SEGA Forums!/UPDATE END
Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing fans may remember a bug-fix and DLC enabling patch was released last Wednesday for the PS3 version before the Metal Sonic and Death Egg Zone: Egg Hangar DLC was released the very next day but then quickly pulled off the PlayStation Store. Well now the same patch has just been released this morning for the Xbox 360 version, if you download it and then check the online multiplayer matchmaking screen you will see a DLC tab which informs players that room is using DLC content meaning you can only enter that lobby if you have the DLC being used in that room. The Ryo Forklift DLC is the only exception to that rule since you only download a key to unlock him on the disc, Metal Sonic and the Death Egg Zone: Egg Hangar and any future DLC is all new content.
The PS3 version got the patch the day before the DLC was released so with tomorrow’s Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store updates we will hopefully see the Metal Sonic and Death Egg Zone: Egg Hangar content released, we’ll let you know if it appears.

The first piece of downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing at least has hit the Xbox Live Marketplace. Priced at 400 Microsoft Points you get what is essentially a key to unlock all content in the game, so those hoping for characters, tracks or music will have to wait a little bit longer.
The content is described as below –
Race past the competition and speed your way to victory with a whole host of Sonic & SEGA All-Star characters and exhilarating tracks. Unlock all 24 tracks and 22 characters from the start with this exclusive download. Winning has never been so sweet!
In a post at the SSMB Steve Lycett Executive Producer at Sumo Digital has confirmed there is better DLC coming –
Yeah, that’s the boring DLC, it gets better
Laser gates? LOL – yet another one to add to the gaffe list. The Final Fortress tracks used to have laser gates that popped out of the tracks to block you. We took them out as they really slowed the race down – and could pop up right when you least wanted them.
Of course there was a cameo on the Final Fortress tracks too….

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing producer Steve Lycett (“S0L”) fielded some questions in the game’s thread in the SSMB today, one of them involving the prospect of DLC. Member PSI Wind FTW asked:
Hey S0L, is it possible for DLC to be on all 3 console versions and even the PC version?
Steve’s reply:
Chances are DLC will be limited to 360/PS3.
Whilst it’s entirely possible to do it elsewhere, the big stumbling block is how you actually make it available.
On Wii there’s no DLC store as such – so you have to write some form of in-game store, that also safely handles transactions and deals with downloads that may get paused or corrupted. Then you’ve got the limited storage space, unlike an unlock key or music track, game assets here are pretty big. You’re looking at over a 100Mb for something like an extra track and character. Which would soon fill the Wii’s internal memory, meaning you then have write SD card support – which has it’s own set of problems…!
Plus you can’t update games on Wii (not so far as I know) unless the DLC is supported by shipped code, you can’t add anything once the game is done.
It’s not undoable of course, but all the effort has to be paid for.
PC is a similar story, whilst the game will likely be made available via Steam, and you can offer DLC via the same method – what about disk owners? Again you’d have to write some method or store, then there is the whole security issue too, it’d have to made pretty difficult to extract back out – else people will just share it about for free.
Again, this can be overcome, but again, it bumps up your cost.
That’s before you consider the cost to test assets over multiple platforms to boot
If the cost for implementing the content and getting it working exceeds the money you’ll make for doing it…
So whilst I can never say never, I think outside of 360/PS3 it’s not likely to be something that will happen.
There you have it. Wii DLC? Ain’t gon’ happen.

UPDATE 2: ArchangelUK at the Sonic City Blognik has revealed what Ryo Forklift’s All Star Move will be, how it works and confirms he doesn’t replace normal Ryo.
Ryo gains his ASM, he does not summon another vehicle – you have a different animation for this sequence. He clenches his fist and with his right foot FLOORS it. Yes Ryo litterally puts the pedal to the metal* and the whole forklift rears up and you charge forward with the same power as normal Ryo’s ASM.
So Ryo-F is different, in a sense. I’ll confirm he doesn’t replace normal Ryo either as a few of you were worried about that. I’ve just spoken to one of the senior SOE staff working on the game and hopefully we might see some footage down the line. We’ll have to wait and see.

UPDATE: ArchangelUK has now made this DLC official at the Sonic City Blognik, this will be a pre-order bonus code for people who pre-order the Xbox 360/PS3 version and will be exclusive to Europe and Australia. Info regarding this form of Ryo’s All Star Move will hopefully be available tomorrow along with images of the France exclusive double ASR Wii Wheel bundle. Info on which store chains in which territories this pre-order gift will be obtainable from will be available soon. /UPDATE END
Original story below:
You may remember a banner ad at retailer GAME’s Spanish website that we reported on which revealed a Ryo character as a piece of downloadable content you can receive when you pre-order the game for Xbox 360. Well GAME have updated the banner to clear things up, the banner now reads “Downloadable Ryo’s forklift” suggesting Ryo from Shenmue’s Forklift will be playable as a seperate vehicle outside of his All Star Move but this leaves the question what would Ryo’s All Star Move be when riding the Forklift as his main vehicle(if he has one)?
It’s unknown at present wether this will appear as DLC for people who don’t pre-order, wether it will be available outside of Spain or wether it will appear on other formats.
We’ll keep you updated. A HUGE thanks to Jolt at the SSMB for the heads up and translation.

A polish car enthusiast website called Gry V10.pl has posted a preview (if you can call it that) for Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing, dated 14th January 2010. In the preview they go into detail listing all of the features of the game that have recently been announced but then they get to a subject we aren’t as clued up on as they appear to be, which is downloadable content.
Up until now we’ve seen Xbox.com’s product page list DLC as a feature, but not what form/s it will arrive in, then yesterday we found out retailer GAME’s Spanish website are listing a pre-order bonus for a code to download a Ryo character. Now this car enthusiast website claims SEGA will be releasing characters AND tracks as DLC.

European PS3 users have been very patient while they have been lagging behind with Sonic Unleashed downloadable content packs. For the past couple of weeks the European Playstation Store has been two packs behind Xbox 360 users and PS3 users from other regions but today you can now download the Holoska Adventure Pack. Unfortunately the Mazuri Adventure Pack is still to come but with no downloadable content released today on Xbox Live or the Playstation Store in other regions at least you EU PS3 users aren’t far behind now.

Those rumblings of more downloadable content has appeared to pan out. SEGA has today released three new levels and three new missions for Mazuri on Xbox Live. Like past DLC packs, this pack costs 250 points. You can get a look at what the content looks like below, in video provided by the Youtube user 1stkirbyever. So out of nowhere Kevin (Aka AAUK) posts on the blognik that Sonic Unleashed has DLC online. So I pop onto the 360 and there it is. The Chun-nan Adventure Pack offers new acts and missions to the Chun-nan area which overall are a bit “meh” but then again, they are actually worth the measley 250 points they are asking for them. We’d recommended them only if you actually enjoyed Sonic Unleashed lol.

It’s been a good three or four months since the release of Sonic’s super fast/generic action’y title on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, Sonic Unleashed. SEGA have updated the Xbox Live Market Place today with some of the first Downloadable Content available for the game, a Chun-Nan ‘Adventure Pack.’
The adventure pack weighs in at around 530MB in size and contains four new day time stages (Act 1-2, 2-2, 4 and 5) and two new Werehog stages (Act 1-2 and 3.) While act 1-2 for both characters is simply a more difficult obstacle course of the standard Act 1 stages, Act 4 and 5 for Sonic and Act 3 for the Werehog offer entirely new areas of Chun-Nan for players to explore. Act 2-2 for Sonic simply adds an extra two ‘laps’ on to the already existing stage, though both of these are cleverly designed and a good challenge for even the greatest Unleashed enthusiasts.
Currently, the Xbox 360 DLC is avalible in Europe, Japan and America, while the PS3 DLC is only accessible in Japan. Worry not however, as word has it the European and American PSN will be updating later tonight with the content.
Alongside a DLC update, SEGA have released a patch for the game currently only downloadable through the Xbox Live Marketplace. While it doesn’t fix everything, incorrect totals on the map screen have been fixed and a slight optimisation of the code for the Adabat stage has been put into place, lessening the frame rate drops by a small amount.
Hopefully more Adventure Packs will be made available to download in the future, alongside more frequent patches for the game, hopefully fixing art book glitches and the loss of frame rate in Eggman Land especially.
Are you happy with the Chun-Nan DLC? Were you expecting something more? Entirely new stages? Remakes of classic zones perhaps? Let us know in the comments below!
