Yesterday it was announced that Sega would be bringing a selection of Sonic 4 Episode 2 themed avatars to PSN users ahead of the release of Episode 2. Well the avatars are now live on the EU PSN and can be downloaded for the low price of 21p each. For those in the US, you’ve gotta wait another week for them. You can see a quick photo gallery of the avatars after the break as well as details of other Sonic related happenings on the PSN.
Although it seems that Sega isn’t done with the digital downloads just yet. Last week we told you how members of Playstation Plus could download various discounted DLC packs for Sonic Unleashed, All Star Racing and even a discounted Sonic CD, but it was limited to EU customers only.
The good news is that these discounts have now been brought over to the US end of the Playstation Store and be downloaded right now.
However, it doesn’t end there. According to the European Playstation Blog. Come May 2nd, anyone who hasn’t yet bought Sonic Generations can receive a free trial download of the game. Alas, you must be a PSN+ user. Nice little incentive if you’ve not bought Generations yet.

It really sucks how you can’t buy content on another store and have it percolate to every account on your PS3.
I can’t buy K-On! avatars from the JP PSN store because they wouldn’t matter to anything but my Japanese PSN account (in other words, not useful to my US account, which is my primary).
The avatars will be on the US store next week.
They have K-On! avatars? I like that. However, I’d be even more sold if they had Haruhi avatars. lol.

Hmmmm, not sure if I will pass these up or not… I mean, I kinda like my LittleBigPlanet 2 avatars better and I’d probably just still use them, but it would be nice to finally have Sonic, Tails, and Metal in my collection, it’s the first time I’m able to have a Sonic avatar on my PS3… this is a hard decision.
