The waves have come and gone. Tickets gone in the blink of an eye on each occasion. Defeated, you’ve resigned yourself of your hopes to visit Summer of Sonic 2012 in sunny Brighton…
In that case, what the heck are you doing!? You’ve got one more chance to get a ticket here! Quit moping around and listen up!
The Summer of Sonic website has revealed that 10 tickets remain! How do you get one of these tickets? What does this have to do with SEGASonic: Radio? Head on after the jump for full details!

A little over a month ago, another music legend has passed.
MCA (aka Adam Yauch), a member the renowned hip hop trio known as the Beastie Boys, lost his life to cancer on May 4th. He died at the age of 47.
You might recall Alien/Renegade, one of many musicians who contributed to The Sonic Stadium Music Album. For Mash-Up Monday, he has prepared a trio of mixes consisting of music from the Beastie Boys, all of which being featured here today.
We present to you “An Open Letter to Rusty Ruins”, “Wacky Body Movin”, and “Here’s a Little Final Haunt for Ya”. Enjoy!

My readers, this day is what all true Sonic fans strive for!
Yes, today is June 23rd, and you all know what that means! The Blue Blur himself, Sonic the Hedgehog, is celebrating his 21st birthday today!
So, let’s have a bit of an extravaganza ourselves! 21 is the magic number, so why not go for that many tracks, just for today? A great number of these tracks have been tipped by you guys, and I thank you all for your contributions!
Due to the sheer amount of music to be featured beyond the jump, I’ll refrain myself from commenting on each track. Instead, I will leave you all with this. If everything goes according to plan here, Sound Test Saturday will be moved to SEGASonic: Radio next week. Yes folks, SS:R will return sooner than you think! And with the big move, we will introduce a new feature on our weekly music column: interviews! First ones up are Freen in Green, followed by xTrickyWolfy and Ring Energy should all go well!
If there is any particular artist you would want featured on a future Sound Test Saturday, if there are any remixes, covers, or originals you want to share, if you have work of your own you would like to see up on the site, then do not hesitate to notify me at vizardjeffhog@sonicstadium.org!
That being said, Happy 21st Anniversary, Sonic the Hedgehog! Still unstoppable after 21 years!

Just a quick reminder – it’s less than 24 hours until your last chance to get a ticket for this year’s Summer of Sonic, so don’t forget to set your clocks for 18:00 BST tomorrow evening (Friday 22nd June) if you’re still after one! Remember, there will be no more tickets after these final 140 are swept up so be prepared!
In other news, the Summer of Sonic Cosplay Contest will be returning in full force this year. The fan-favourite will be conducted a little differently this year, with sign-up sheets available throughout the day to make the whole process even smoother for everyone involved.

Want to celebrate Sonic’s 21st anniversary on Saturday with style? Here’s a way!
The good folks down at Sonic Radio, Sonic Remix and Shadow Remix, will be hosting an 8-hour event known as the Sonic Fan Music Festival. With some collaboration from RadioSEGA, the stream will showcase a plethora of Sonic remixes, most of these tracks being submitted and requested by the community.

Courtesy of KatamariParadox, this week’s Mash-Up Monday will feature a four-way mash of all known versions of City Escape’s “Escape from the City”: the original, the instrumental, the Classic, and the Modern!
Thankfully, it isn’t just all four sprawled across one another. Bits and pieces of each iteration of the track contribute to a complete piece!

See if you can spot the original Endless Mine in there.

Rocketing temperatures, trips planned to a number of resorts, schools closing their doors, burdens of all sorts being lifted from people’s shoulders… It can only mean one thing!
What time is it? Summertime! It’s our vacation!
And, to celebrate the oncoming season, it’s only fair that this week’s Sound Test Saturday joins in on the party as well, wouldn’t you say? We’ve got a total of five tracks to mark this joyous occasion (barring insanely hot temperatures), so kick back, take a nice swig of whatever you have in your glass or bottle, and relax!
First up on the playlist is a cover of Emerald Coast’s “Azure Blue World” from Sonic Adventure, put together by jparecki95!

…are Bark the Polar Bear and Bean the Dynamite, for this week’s Freak-Out Friday! (Sorry lassies! No dog puns today!)
Recognized by many as one-shot characters, Bark and Bean made their first and only appearance in the series within the 1996 beat-em-up Sonic the Fighters. Following that, the two were never to be seen, heard from, or playable again in a future Sonic title.
What many fans do not know, however, is that the duo made one more playable appearance following Sonic the Fighters! Bark and Bean have both returned to the ring once again in Fighters Megamix, a Virtua Fighters and Fighting Vipers crossover on the SEGA Saturn, with the two being unlockable characters!
With the game’s release back in late ’96, a Famitsu guidebook for the fighting game hit the shelves in Japan. Interestingly, the Fighters Megamix guide featured more than just character profiles for the cast; they’ve each had a short comic as well! And yes, that includes Bark and Bean!
Check out their comics down below! (Warning: It’s a tad Engrish.)

I’m going to keep this short. Eddie Lebron is a film maker, his latest project has been a Sonic fan movie. Only this one is different, it’s amazing! Try not to spill your tea.

The short film is due for release this summer. You can find out more via the links below… … Oh yes… That is Jaleel White voicing Sonic.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to try and convince Eddie Lebron to turn his talents into building me a life sized fully working BuzzBomber! Yes I know that was CGI but I can dream!

Good afternoon, do-gooders! Today is Monday, and you all know what that means! It’s time for some more mash-ups! And not just any kind of mash-ups, no! Sonic Generations was a game that set incredibly high expectations for the fans for one reason, and one reason alone: the stages chosen to represent Sonic’s best moments in two different styles. This stretched not only to the gameplay and level design, but to the music as well.
The final release’s level selection was met with high praise, what with highlighting some of the greatest parts of Sonic’s history… but of course, not everyone is left satisfied. As a result, many people from the music community have decided to take matters into their own hands. Already numerous dubbed “Classic” and “Modern” remixes of Sonic favourites have sprouted around the web.
That is why, for this week’s Sound Test Saturday, we will acknowledge a few of these artists who have payed tribute to Sonic Generations and the history of Sonic in their own special way.
With that, let’s begin with a remix that literally raised the bar much higher than some would favour… a White World mix of Sky Troops from Shadow the Hedgehog!

Yo! Hey! Hiya! Thanks for comin’, great to see you!
…okay, well, that’s about all that I have to say.
Alighty, kidding aside, welcome to a very special Mash-Up Monday, everybody! We’ve got quite a unique haul for you today, though readers bearing unstable souls are recommended not to subject themselves to the following mash-ups. Should you experience any given sign of insanity or madness, please do close the tab and look up something soothing, like adorable kittens!
This week, we’ve got a total of four music combinations, all pertaining to the Soul Eater anime’s soundtrack! First one up is “Wisp Blitz”, a combination of Planet Wisp from Sonic Colours and “Blitz”!

Welcome back to Sound Test Saturday, Sonic netizens! We’ve got quite the music haul to highlight, so take a seat (though you’re likely already doing so), relax, grab some munchies, and ready your ears.
This week, we’ll be taking a look at five Sonic Spinball remixes! And what better way is there to start things off… than with a rearrangement by one of the game’s composers, Howard Drossin?
Let’s boot up the spinball machine and “Return to the Toxic Caves”!

In January of this year, Jazwares released a rather awesome looking Sonic Generations statue. It was so awesome in fact that many collectors living outside of America decided to import it. The statue is a nice collectible… however, if one collector is right, it has a bit of a problem and depending how your statue is currently displayed you might want to take action.

…wait, wait, no! Not “slamjam“, you got me all wrong! What I mean is “Jellyfish Jam”!
That’s right, we’re going down to Bikini Bottom, to the absorbent, yellow and porous sponge living under the sea, for this week’s Mash-Up Monday! “Jellyfish Jam” from Spongebob Squarepants combines with Speed Highway Act 1 from Sonic Generations.
I hope this makes up for what I’ve put you all through on Friday… but who am I kidding? I love torturing you guys every once in a while!

Tune in for additional jams next week!

Just as on Saturday, we have a Sonic Colours-centric Mash-Up Monday as we bring you a very special guest, providing us a very special mash-up!
Some of you might recall the name DJ EAR. Whether it is for his musical contributions to The Sonic Stadium Music Album or the brawler fan game Super Sonic Knockout, this artist has a massive talent for music. One such display of his prowess is a mash-up compiling various tracks of Sonic Colours, highlighting every zone and then some, appropriately titled “Every Colour Has A Sound”.
You won’t have to guess which tracks in specific have been used; the songs used are listed on screen as they play. Very cool!

One word alone is enough to summarize anyone’s reaction toward this, as Wave 1 of Summer of Sonic 2012 tickets went and gone by in under three minutes; the 400 free tickets being distributed have been sold out only mere moments after the wave went up, lasting from 12:30 to 12:33 BST.
To those who haven’t managed to get their tickets, you’re too slow!a second wave will be announced this weekend with all needed details including the distribution date, so brace yourselves: like the first wave, it’s on a “first come, first serve” basis!
In comparison, last year’s convention, which brought special guests such as Yuji Naka and Takashi Iizuka to celebrate Sonic’s 20th anniversary, took almost ten hours to give out 700 tickets! This, in conjunction with the surprisingly brief giveaway and the recent announcement of Crush 40 attending this year’s convention, is a sure sign of exponentially rising demand and anticipation for SOS 2012!

For this week’s Sound Test Saturday, we will be taking a look at a couple of remixes dedicated to Sonic Colours, a Nintendo exclusive entry that breathed new life into the franchise with some of the most zaniest yet colourful stages, gameplay mechanics, and of course, music, in the entire series.
Let’s start with something unique: a House mix of the Green Hover Wisp theme by Stylez-T!
Update: The video has been removed. Thanks to Darksonic20 for the notice.
As if the Hover theme wasn’t relaxing enough. Stylez here somehow managed to make a blissfully happy and sleep-inducing track even more sleep-inducing and happy. Of course, what’s most impressive is how Stylez turned a short, soft, situational loop into a full fledged 4 minute track! Definitely the last sort of thing I expecting! His “Hover House” mix at least deserves that credit.
And now, we dive into a unique remix, combining Aquarium Park with… Mystic Mansion from Sonic Heroes!

Now let’s be honest for a second: there aren’t enough remixes of songs from the Storybook series, so far comprised of Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight. Say what you will of the games themselves, but you can’t deny that they have their golden moments, their soundtracks being no exception. That’s why I’m a little stumped as to find only a handful of Storybook mixes out there! Disappoint, Sonic community!
For that reason, this week’s Sound Test Saturday will pay tribute to the spin-off (or is it canon now?) entries and the music that accompanied them!
Let’s start things off with DjReds‘ take on “The Palace That Was Found” from SatSR‘s own Evil Foundry!

It’s a given that searching for any given video game track on YouTube will lead you to a big number of assorted covers. Some will seem mediocre, some will seem just “meh”, and some are okay.
Then there’s covers like these.
This week’s Sound Test Saturday takes a look into the musical stylings of CageKame, an extremely talented artist from Italy who favours the guitar. You’ll end up finding tons of rock covers for video game tracks on his channel, all well made.
However, I think the term “rock cover” is too basic to describe this guy’s skills, because they are not your everyday vanilla-flavoured cover. What blows his remixes out of the water over all others are not only the energy and spirit he puts into his playing, it’s how his guitar solos take the spotlight. He truly knows how to make each song he comes across into his own.
If you want proof, check out two of his rock remakes down below: Sky Sanctuary and Ice Cap from Sonic 3 & Knuckles!
