Sonic X is Coming to Blu-Ray (in SD)

Don’t blink! Don’t think! Just go-go, go-go, g-g-g-g-go-go down to your local video store on May 28 to pick up Sonic X: The complete series on Region 2 SD Blu-Ray! (God, that was corny.)

The good folks at Disctek Media are bringing all 78 english language episodes in one volume. (Sorry Japanese sub fans, you’ll have to stick with Hulu for now.) This includes the extras from the DVD version as well as the original pitch video where the world of Sonic X had a lot less humans.

The Blu-Ray retails for $69.99, but you can pre-order it from rightstufanime right now for $45.47. Check out Brady Hartel’s Twitter for more info. In the meantime, here’s the cover.

LBX: Little Battlers eXperience on 3DS has a mission called “Gotta Go Fast”

WVW69iWSekc-ytzi8O

Memes so strong even your greatest rival references them! The newly released 3DS game LBX, developed by Level-5 (makers of Professor Layton, Fantasy Life, and the Japanese phenomenon Yo-Kai Watch) and localized and published by Nintendo, has a mission in the game with that all-so-familiar phrase.

LBX is a customizable robot fighting game that can be compared to franchises like Medabots and Nintendo’s own Custom Robo series (hell it’s not far from Sega’s Virtual-On series either).

It may not be via amiibo support (which the game doesn’t support, hell the thing came out in Japan in 2012 on 3DS, and is a port of a PSP game from the year prior in 2011, yeah :P), but it’s still humorous that Nintendo would throw that in there. It’s not the first time either that they threw in memes of competitors, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl referenced the terrifying, delicious, and apparently historically accurate Giant Enemy Crabs and them being prone to receiving Massive Damage in their weakpoints.

(To be fair, would you bat an eyelash if that meme didn’t exist? Likely not.)

Anyway, there you have it!

May as well just clarify as not everyone knows the meme, the meme Gotta Go Fast originates from the 4Kids dub of Sonic X and its opening features that lyric. 🙂 Guess it just took awhile to catch on. 😛

Huge thanks to Fandangox at NeoGAF for snapping the pic on top. 🙂

During a race side interview with The Ultimate Warrior. Sonic was able to just edge into shot as he overtook the famous wrestler. Based on various tweets and other comments on social media, Lewis has also been spotted by a number of other spectators and is causing a bit of a stir as he powers by.

My favourite bit of this pic is the guy just in the back who has realised he’s been overtaken by Sonic the Hedgehog.

From all of us here at The Sonic Stadium, Good show Lewis! Keep it up.

Also if you want to donate to Lewis’ charity (Leukaemia Care) you can do so via his donation page.

Special thanks to SSMB member Lucky for the tip and for spotting lewis in the half a second he was on screen!

P.S. Based on current TV Footage, Sonic is ahead of the following… Iron Man, Spiderman, The Ultimate Warrior, Charlie Chaplin and a man carrying a giant tiger whilst dressed as a robot…?

Summer of Sonic Tickets Gone in Under Three Minutes!

“…wow.”

One word alone is enough to summarize anyone’s reaction toward this, as Wave 1 of Summer of Sonic 2012 tickets went and gone by in under three minutes; the 400 free tickets being distributed have been sold out only mere moments after the wave went up, lasting from 12:30 to 12:33 BST.

To those who haven’t managed to get their tickets, you’re too slow! a second wave will be announced this weekend with all needed details including the distribution date, so brace yourselves: like the first wave, it’s on a “first come, first serve” basis!

In comparison, last year’s convention, which brought special guests such as Yuji Naka and Takashi Iizuka to celebrate Sonic’s 20th anniversary, took almost ten hours to give out 700 tickets! This, in conjunction with the surprisingly brief giveaway and the recent announcement of Crush 40 attending this year’s convention, is a sure sign of exponentially rising demand and anticipation for SOS 2012!

For inquiries concerning ticket reservations and other issues, you may direct yourselves to the full report on the Summer of Sonic webpage.

Freak-Out Friday: Too Fast? [NSFW]

[NSFW for brief mature language and sensitive themes]

Who knew that, even for Sonic, there was such a thing as going too fast? Does punishment await those with an unnatural talent for speed?

A cautionary tale to all young speedsters. Those who are strong, who can fly, may reach more than the other side of the rainbow they bargained for.

Freak Out Friday: Sanic… Hotdogs?

Wasn’t originally going to post a FOF this week… but I literally saw this 30 seconds ago. It’s 11:59pm – it must be a sign.

Warning: very loud.
