As Sonic fans, SEGA has invariably played at least some role in the tastes of everyone on the Sonic Stadium staff. Whether it is our love for their hardware, software or intellectual property, we each have a memory that either defined SEGA for us, or allowed SEGA to shape our tastes in gaming as a whole.

Today, on SEGA’s 60th anniversary, we thought it would be good to reminisce about the company that created a character we all have at least some fondness for.

Well, The Sonic Stadium has now found a portfolio website for the artist which features the above models for Amy Rose as well as models for Sonic and some badniks. Mash-Up Monday: Beastie Boys Tribute

A little over a month ago, another music legend has passed.

MCA (aka Adam Yauch), a member the renowned hip hop trio known as the Beastie Boys, lost his life to cancer on May 4th. He died at the age of 47.

You might recall Alien/Renegade, one of many musicians who contributed to The Sonic Stadium Music Album. For Mash-Up Monday, he has prepared a trio of mixes consisting of music from the Beastie Boys, all of which being featured here today.

We present to you “An Open Letter to Rusty Ruins”, “Wacky Body Movin”, and “Here’s a Little Final Haunt for Ya”. Enjoy!

SEGA Zippo Lighters Spark Nostalgia

croppedsegazippo_550x333For $114, you can make smoking cool twice over with these SEGA-themed Zippo lighters.  Recently, Zippo has been manufacturing lighters featuring other companies, like Namco, but now SEGA gets love.  I’ve never seen so much detail put into a lighter.

You can totally afford them, right?  I mean, you just have to skip this week’s trip to the grocery store or hold off on drinking for about four Saturdays in a row.  😉

Buy these things already.
