New M&S 2014 Screenshots show off Miis and Dream Events

mario_sonic_sochi-6

Now that we know Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is finally coming out in November, hot on the heels of Sonic Lost World, we have a brand new set of screenshots to get us all excited. These screens show off quite a few new features of the game, including the return of Miis and some of the Dream Events.

Starting with the screenshot above, we can see that you can once again play as your Mii character and dress them up in whatever way you so choose – there’s regular outfits, hats, and full-blown character costumes to pick from. In terms of character costumes we can see that the game will include costumes of Vector, Birdo, Diddy Kong, Bee Mario, Propeller Mario, and Penguin Mario, and those are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg as this is only one page of 10 being shown. You’ll also be able to get a spooky pumpkin hat to scare your opponents. Will it cause the Pumpkin Hill music to play when you wear it though? That is the real question we all want answered, I’m sure!

mario_sonic_sochi-4This next screenshot shows off one of the new Dream Events in which characters play in teams of two, running around an area and shooting each other with snow. It sounds like a rather interesting concept, and at the very least it shows off some of the new graphical effects that the move to Wii U is bringing to the series.

And finally for now, we have this screenshot…

mario_sonic_sochi-10Oh god, I can imagine the fan-fiction already!

You can see all of the new screenshots in the gallery below. Thanks to SSMB member YoshiUnity for pointing them out in the forums!

“Many” current VAs to be involved with Sonic Boom

sonicboomteaser

UPDATE: The article has now been updated to avoid any confusion – while “many” of the current cast will reprise their roles for Sonic Boom, not necessarily all will. We do not know any specific cast members involved with the project at the time of writing.

Yesterday’s announcement of Sonic Boom – a new CG animated Sonic cartoon set for launch in 2014 – has been one that’s definitely turned a few heads, and indeed raised a few eyebrows. While the prospect of seeing our favourite spiky blue hero back on our TV screens is no doubt an exciting one, some of the apparent changes to the designs of the characters have left some fans… dubious, to say the least.

Well, while it does appear we’ll be getting a new-look Sonic (and especially a new-look Knuckles) for the cartoon, one thing we can now confirm to be staying the same is a number of the voice actors. SEGA posted the following comment on the Sonic Facebook page:

We are pleased and excited that many of the voice actors used in game for Sonic and friends will also be voicing the TV animation.

Seemingly in support of this, both Roger Craig Smith and Mike Pollock posted links to the Sonic Boom announcement yesterday via their respective social media outlets, which suggests that they may have some involvement with the project. However, no specifics have been given regarding who will reprise their roles and who will not.

So, just like Sonic X, there will be some consistency in the voice actors between the games and the cartoon. Are you pleased to hear this news? Let us know in the comments!

Mario & Sonic 2014 Official Site Goes Live

ms

Looking forward to the next sporting crossover between two of gaming’s giants? Well in that case you’ll be pleased to hear that the official website for Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is now live! Nintendo of Europe made the following tweet earlier today:

Check out the new website for the latest game in the @MarioSonicGames series, coming to #WiiU this November!

But there’s not much to see as of yet. In fact, there’s nothing new there at all. Just an old trailer and a themed background. It’s teased that the full site will be coming soon though, hopefully with plenty of juicy new details along with it.

One new bit of information (or clarification) from this news though comes in the form of the game’s release date, which – as stated in the tweet above – is now officially “November”. It seems that despite Nintendo’s error regarding the 8th November launch date, Mario & Sonic will still be arriving on Wii U in time for the holiday season. Exciting!

And with a Nintendo Direct planned for tomorrow, who knows what potential Mario & Sonic related news we might see? Stay tuned to TSS for more as and when it happens!

[UPDATED!] Get even more DLC for your Deadly Six Edition!

shoptodlclostworldSonic Lost World is the game that just keeps on giving! On top of what looks to be a title already packed with content, we also have the Deadly Six Edition for Wii U containing DLC inspired by NiGHTS into Dreams… and now, thanks to UK retailer ShopTo, it looks like we have even more extra goodies to look forward to as well!

ShopTo recently made the below announcement on their Facebook page:

Sonic Lost World Deadly Six Edition on WiiU now comes with another 2 DLC codes!

The first one includes 5 Black Bombs Colour Powers to devastate your enemies five times over. The second includes a Rare Omochao RC Gadget, a chao-tastic way to help out Sonic. This title already comes with the NiGHTMARE DLC pack, which contains an extra level with enemies inspired by the Sega Saturn classic NiGHTS into Dreams, meaning you’ll get 3 DLC codes in total!

So, on top of NiGHTS-themed boss battles, we also have a golden Omochao RC and five uses of the Black Bomb Wisp to download on release day. You can pre-order Sonic Lost World: Deadly Six Edition at ShopTo for £32.86 by clicking here.

Thanks to SSMB member Phil Collins for pointing this out!

UPDATE: US retailer GameStop are also offering a similar bonus DLC offer, however there is no mention of the Black Bomb Wisp and it advertises an Omochao inspired by Sonic himself rather than the golden one ShopTo are giving away. Looks like there’s some region-exclusive DLC being distributed! Thanks to SSMB member Sonic CD for the heads up!

SLW_DLC_bonusLG

UPDATE #2: Hot off the press… there’s yet another pre-order bonus if you get the game from a different retailer, in this case Amazon.com! This one’s a little less exciting though – 25 extra lives. Still, a free bonus is a bonus, and you never know when some 1-ups might come in handy!

Blaze For Blaze in Sonic Dash’s Second Global Challenge

blaze_sonicdash

Following the success of the previous Sonic Dash Global Challenge, a new challenge has been issued by SEGA and Hardlight Studios, this time with the fiery princess of the Sol Dimension up for grabs!

The 2nd Global Challenge will allow players to unlock Blaze the Cat as a playable character upon beating personal records, and, just like the last challenge, cannot be accomplished alone!

blaze_sonicdash2

Your progress, filling up the left gauge, will be tallied along with fellow players around the world to reach the combined target, filling up the right gauge! With four stages to complete, should both personal and global targets be reached, Blaze will be free to blaze through the endless Seaside Hill as much as she pleases!

Here’s the catch: we’ve gotta rush for this one since we only have 9 days. Challenge ends on October 6th, so let’s get to work!

Be warned that, due to the recent release iOS 7, you may experience certain errors in-game if you hadn’t updated your Sonic Dash app since the past few days. The last update allows access to the latest Global Challenge, so if you’ve already accepted the challenge, you should be fine!

Jazwares Cancels Its Amy & Metal Sonic Plush

jazwaresbooth2013

I would like to give you some perspective on this as to why this is a bit of a big deal. Metal Sonic is a very popular character, Metal Sonic merchandise is also very popular. To date there have only been 2 Metal Sonic plushies, both of which are extremely rare and can often go into the several hundreds when they come up for sale.

There is a huge demand for Metal Sonic merchandise.

About 2 years ago, a Metal Sonic plush was spotted at a Toy Fair, despite not looking amazing, many people including myself were quite excited at the prospect of owning a Metal Sonic plush which wouldn’t require the use of Nathan Drake to find and Scrooge McDuck to fund. Since that toy fair, the plush was never seen again.

Then at the start of the year, the plush turned up at several toy fairs along with an Amy Rose plush. Both have appeared in officially released press photos and have even been up for pre-order. The UK’s ‘Smyths toys’ have it listed as being eventually available and it’s even on the Jazwares official website.

It looked like Sonic merch collectors and Metal Sonic fans would finally get their wish and a Metal Sonic plush would finally be released.

Well… Jazwares have decided to cancel the plush.

Several people who have pre-ordered the plush have been in touch to say that they’re now reciving emails saying that Jazwares have cancelled the plush, no explanation as to why it’s been cancelled where given.

Please accept our sincerest apologies, Jazwares contacted us this morning & told us they no longer plan to Manufacture the Metal Sonic Plush which you ordered.

As a result, there will be no way for us to source this product.

We feel absolutely terrible about this & would like to remedy this issue as painlessly as possible for you. Here are a few options we would like to offer you

1. We could replace the Metal Sonic Plush with another Sonic Plush of your choice, including our new Silver Sonic!(we will refund any price difference.)

2. We could provide you a full refund including an extra $5 as our small compensation for this situation.”

Several online retailers who have had pre-orders up for both these characters have also either pulled them or changed their listing to cancelled. Big bad Toy Story & Entertainment Earth have both change their listings for these items. It does indeed appear like these highly anticiptated toys will never see a release.

Speaking as someone who was really looking forward to this, I cannot believe how bad a decision this was. Two years of showing this at toy conventions, even going as far as taking publicity shots of it and only to cancel it? Seriously what was the reason behind that one? This would have sold, so many people were looking forward to it.

It should be also pointed out that at a toy fair earlier this year, Jazwares also showed a Super Sonic plush, however there has been no word yet as to the fate of this one.

For fans of merchandise, the wait for a reasonably price Metal Sonic plush continues.

P.S. In the email quote you can see the words ‘Silver Sonic plush’ this is actually Silver the Hedgehog and not a plush based on the Sonic 2 boss. Let me leave you with this thought, Metal Sonic and Amy have been cancelled… The Silver plush however is still being released…. … … Yeah I’ll let you lot debate how good that decision is in the comments.

Recent M&S 2014 release date “an error”

M&S2014_Wii_U_Boxart

You may remember we reported a week or so ago that Nintendo had seemingly revealed the release date for Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games as 8th November by means of a Wii U notification. For those of you who were getting excited, you’re about to be a little disappointed because it turns out that was just a mistake on the Big N’s part. Nintendo have provided the following clarification regarding the game’s release:

The Nov. 8 launch date for Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games that was recently listed in a Wii U notification was an error. A confirmed launch date will be announced in the future. We apologize for any confusion.

So, it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for our next sporting crossover – but at least we have Sonic Lost World to look forward to in the meantime! And you can be sure that, 8th November or not, Mario & Sonic 2014 will be hitting retail and digital stores before the year is over to cash in on the inevitable Christmas rush.

When do you think Mario & Sonic will be released? Anyone who predicts correctly gets bragging rights!

Sega have released another trailer for Sonic Lost World, this time, it’s not a stage or gameplay mode thats highlighted, it’s the Deadly Six themselves.

Now, this trailer contains every Deadly Six boss fight, so if you’re trying to come to it fresh, better avoid this one. For those who want to be spoilt, I think you’ll really enjoy this trailer, have to say it’s my favourite of the lot so far.

Sonic Lost World OST to be released in November

Sonic Lost World July screenshots 29

A listing on the videogames music website VGMdb has revealed that the soundtrack to the upcoming Sonic Lost World is set to be released on 27th November in Japan. The OST will have a physical release spanning 3 CD discs, similar to that of Planetary Pieces (Sonic Unleashed) and Vivid Colors x Hybrid Sounds (Sonic Colours) before it. The soundtrack will be published by Wave Master Entertainment and will cost 4200 Japanese yen, and can be pre-ordered right now through HMV JP.

As the time of writing, the soundtrack currently has no official title beyond “Sonic Lost World Original Soundtrack” and no track listing has yet been unveiled, though you can of course expect to find all of the game’s level music as well as the main orchestral theme on there.

Mario & Sonic 2014 Release Date Revealed?

M&S2014_Wii_U_Boxart

Sonic Lost World is only a month away now but it seems you can already look forward to getting your next Sonic fix after the hedgehog’s debut Wii U adventure. That’s right, Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games (what do you mean you forgot it was coming out?!) has now seemingly has been given a release date as well, following hot on the heels of the much-anticipated main series installment.

The news appears to come from Nintendo themselves, as SSMB member CC14 the Franken Frog posted the below snapshot from their Wii U notifications, listing the game as launching on Friday 8th November. The message also indicates that you will be able to download the crossover title from the eShop on the same day, tying in with Nintendo’s current policy of simultaneously releasing new games in both physical and digital format.

mariosonic2014releaseeshop

Please bear in mind that, despite being a Friday – in other words, the usual day for releasing games in Europe – we can only assume this to be the US release date for the game so far, as no such listings have been found in European regions.

So, with a release date now seemingly set, will you be picking up Mario & Sonic 2014 for your Wii U? And if so – retail or download?

New Sonic Games & Major Surprises to come in 2014

sonic2014

Earlier this year, Sega were one of the companies in attendance at the Vegas Licensing Expo, whilst news did come from the event with regards to Lost World, something has slipped under the radar which has only come to light just now.

During the event, Global License produced a daily newspaper of sorts filled with news from each day, and on the second day, they had a very interesting segment on Sega and the Sonic license brand.

Fans will get a preview of the action with new videogames and merchandise slated to release at the end of this year. With more games and major surprises to follow in 2014.

Whats interesting is the use of language, notice how they say ‘video games’ as apposed to ‘a new videogame’ or ‘a new game.’ Could this be a hint that maybe Sonic will see a number of releases in 2014? As apposed to just Mario & Sochi,’ ‘The Third Game’ as fans have started to call the third nintendo exclusive might get a release in 2014? Maybe we’ll see another game with the blue one other than Sochi and the 3rd game.

Also, major suprises which are not game related? What could they be? Well… there was also advert for the Sonic brand included in the same publication.

sonic2014advert Aside from the new renders of the cast, I would direct your attention to the top. In previous adverts since last years licensing events. Sega have used the line “Sonic has appeared in over 60 videogames,” they have never put the annimations/cartoons so dominantly on an advert of this kind. Draw your own conclusions, it’s why we have the comment section.

We’ll keep you upto date with more news as and when we get it.

This madcap racer from Sumo Digital stars 13 characters from across SEGA’s history and allows you to compete in 25 missions and 4 grand prix cups. The game costs just £1.60 and you can purchase it from the Google Play store here.

Sonic Lost World TGS Trailer Includes Amy, New Cutscenes

A brand new TGS 2013 trailer for Sonic Lost World has been released on the game’s Japanese website, and it features a whole cavalcade of new things to see. There’s what appears to be a gorgeous CG intro scene of Sonic and Tails chasing something in the Tornado on their way to Lost Hex, as well as our first (brief!) glimpse of Amy in an in-game cutscene. We also see interactions between the Deadly Six, and Eggman preparing to fire some sort of gun. For people hoping for a deeper and slightly darker story compared to Sonic Colours and Sonic Generations… it looks like you may be in luck!

There’s also plenty of new gameplay footage to see too, including a good look at all of the levels revealed so far – especially recently-revealed ones like Tropical Coast – and a more detailed demonstration of how the Wisps will work in both the Wii U and 3DS versions, showing how the GamePad in particular will bring new ways to control Sonic’s alien-powered abilities.

The Japanese site for Sonic Lost World also includes a few new pieces of art, included below. Thanks to SSMB member Woun for finding all of these new goodies!

With so much new stuff to see, that means there’s lots to discuss! Let us know what you think of the TGS trailer in the comments!

New Sonic Lost World Trailer Shows Deadly Six Boss Battles

It’s been no secret since the very beginning of Lost World’s reveal that Sonic will be squaring off against the Deadly Six – a team of villainous Zeti comprising of Zavok, Zazz, Zomom, Zik, Zeena, and Zor – but up until now we’ve been left wondering… what will the actual fights with them be like?

Well, wonder no more, as you can get a brief glimpse at all of the Deadly Six encounters from the Wii U version in this new Japanese trailer for the game, uploaded by SEGA earlier today. Obviously, it contains spoilers abound for anyone wishing to keep things under wraps until release day!

In an interesting turn of events though, the trailer has since been removed from SEGA’s own account. Credit goes to SSMB user WittyUsername for providing the video used above.

New Mario & Sonic trailer shows us Snowboard Slopestyle

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxiMN0Pi0y4

You know, I can’t decide, is it because I have so little interest in this game, I almost didn’t think this was a new trailer? Or is it that most of the footage looks like it’s from previous trailers and clips? Well, it is a new trailer and it does show some new content, most noticably an event called Snowboard Slopestyle in which Mario and Sonic get on a snowboard and race down a mountain, why? Because they’re Mario & Sonic why would they not want to do this?

However, when asked about this on twitter, Sega said that they didn’t have any news regarding Sonic being in this years Macy’s.

S&ASRT Gamescom Wii U screenshots 4

Sumo Digitals absolutely brilliant Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed managed to win the hearts of many fans as well as critics. If you’ve read our review of the game, or played it, you’ll probably know that it’s quite an exceptional racing game that will find the weak and crush them!

Free Sonic Lost World Comic This Halloween

SLWcomic

This Halloween, many comic shops across America will be participating in a second “Free Comic Book Day” event. While they’ve been doing this every year for a little while, this year we’re getting an all-new Sonic Comic Book! Well, slightly new as it will also be printed in Sonic Super Special #9, but it’s great for those who want a stand alone version. Head on over to the Halloween Comic Fest site for a free, six-page preview. Usually, these comics are what’s known as “ashcan” size (think just slightly bigger than digest). I’m not 100% sure it’s the same case this time around as the shape of the pages would suggest comic book size.

Sonic Lost World: Silent Forest & Frozen Factory Gameplay

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW_Kq1nXvFg

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F2n-Hw5DP4

Sega have released a short selection of gameplay videos from Sonic Lost World. The segments show off both Silent Forest and Frozen Factory. Whilst a lot of it has appeared in previous trailers, some of it has not.

However, unlike previous trailer footage, this video does not have a song playing over the top, all the audio comes from in the level. There is one exception in that there isn’t any stage music which is odd, but you do get a much better idea how these stages play, look and sound.

Sonic Lost World Deadly Six Edition Revealed, New Screenshots

The European version of yesterday’s new trailer has been released and at the end it reveals a special edition of Sonic Lost World for Wii U called the Sonic Lost World Deadly Six Edition. This version of the game includes DLC that adds NiGHTS into Dreams boss battles with The Deadly Six for those that pre-order the game. We’ve not found any retailers listing this edition of the game yet, but if you find it, please give us links in the comments or send them to news@sonicstadium.org.

SEGA has also released twenty eight new screenshots of the Wii U version of the game showcasing the Miiverse hub and a new Black Wisp that seemingly turns Sonic into a bomb. We also get to see more of the various levels currently revealed, like Frozen Factory and Desert Ruins. The file names for the screenshots reveal the water level’s name to be Tropical Coast. You can check out all of the screenshots below in our gallery.

New Sonic Lost World Gamescom Trailer

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5uNXffVR4A

Germany’s Gamescom convention opened today and before you could say ‘Golly!’ Sega released a new trailer for Sonic Lost World. The trailer mainly focuses on the co-op and multiplayer features of the game. 2 player vs is confirmed and players will see themselves racing a green and red hedgehog. Anyone who played Sonic Colours will recognise this idea. During the time Sonic Colours was coming out, a few of us decided to nickname the red hedgehog Barry, Barry the Redhog, who gets his super speed from boozing it up.

Anyone want to offer nickanme suggestions for the green Sonic go right ahead. I vote Shrek Sonic, or Shreknic the Ogrehog.

In addition to the multiplayer we also see several new zones and sections of gameplay as well as one of the pieces of dialogue that has caused some slight controversy in recent weeks.

And no, it’s not a big deal at all when you see it in game.

Due to how big Gamescom is, odds are there will be more news regarding Sonic Lost World this week, so keep checking TSS as we’ll be updating with more news as and when we get it.

Summer of Sonic 2013: Kazuyuki Hoshino Interview

Kazuyuki HoshinoIn the second part of our Summer of Sonic interviews, I sat down to talk robots and character design with Metal Sonic and Amy Rose’s creator – Kazuyuki Hoshino!

TSS: First of all, what does it mean to you to be here at Summer of Sonic?

Kazuyuki Hoshino: It’s great to be here and meet the fans who have continued to love the characters that I have created!

TSS: How do you go about the process of creating the Badniks and other enemies for Sonic games?

Kazuyuki Hoshino: Other than creating some of the key central characters I’ve also created lots of sub-characters. Whenever I create a main character, someone that’s central to the story or series, I always fully immerse myself in that character to really put myself in their shoes. When I was younger I always dreamed of my creations being sold as figurines in shops so people could buy some of the things that I had created. I’ve always kept this in mind when creating characters so I can design them to look great not only for their purpose, but so they would look good as figurines too.

TSS: Out of all the enemy characters you have created, which would you say is your favourite (Metal Sonic excluded!).

Kazuyuki Hoshino: Although he’s not as much of an enemy anymore, I’d definitely have to say Shadow the Hedgehog.

TSS: How did designing for NiGHTS differ to designing for Sonic games?

Kazuyuki Hoshino: When I’m creating characters for Sonic, I always have in mind that it needs to be appealing to millions of people. Sonic has such a big mass audience so I try and design to meet that taste. With NiGHTS, it has a very particular theme with quite a specific and niche market so I can push the boat out a little further to make designs that are more dream-like and psychological.

TSS: What were your biggest challenges in terms of design when making the transition from 2D to 3D games?

Kazuyuki Hoshino: When designing in 3D, you have to make sure that you create everything so that even the parts that weren’t visible before in 2D are now visible in 3D and they look good. You have to figure out how every part of the design would look from different angles and make it work. In the classic Sonic games he only had to be shown from the perspective that made him look best, now that everything is in 3D, you see Sonic from behind a lot more than you ever would have in 2D so now you have to make sure he and all of the other characters look good from all angles. Shadow has a red stripe going down his back and this is because we wanted to make him look both cool from behind and distinctively different from Sonic.

TSS: If you were to re-design Metal Sonic today, what new features would you give him, if any?

Kazuyuki Hoshino: When we originally created Metal Sonic, the thing I really had a focus on was making him look metallic because he is, of course, called Metal Sonic. If I were to re-design him, I would potentially challenge this and try to give him a different feel and texture that you would pick up just from looking at him. For example, a new feature I would perhaps give him is the ability to become invisible. You know in Sci-Fi films where they have the light-reflection technology that camouflages  the user? I’d love to experiment with things like that and incorporate that technology into not only his skillset, but his visual design too.

TSS: You’ve created many iconic and memorable characters over the years. Do you think that we might see an art book dedicated to your works one day?

Kazuyuki Hoshino: I’m honoured that this question has been asked several times already today! I don’t have any plans at the moment to create a compilation of all the art that I’ve created so far. It would be great to have though and my Mother actually looks at art books quite often so she would be incredibly proud!

TSS: Thank you very much for your time, Hoshino-san!

Thanks again to Bobby Wertheim for translations!

Special Effect Holding An Auction for An Epic Piece of Sonic Merchandise

Special Effect

As some of you know, between posting updates here on TSS and feeding my cat, I also do stuff for this little event called Summer of Sonic. You might have heard of it, we hire out a place and invite a bunch of people, sit back, talk about whats the best Eggman robot and have a jolly good time.

Well at this years event, we had a space for the charity Special Effect to show off the amazing work they do in order to make gaming accessible to everyone. As well as informing everyone as to who they are and what they do, they held a few fund raising events on the day such as an auction, and a raffle.

I was fortnate enough to help out Nick (Special Effect staff member) on the day. At around 3PM we retreated to the VIP’s room and started the task of counting up the donations. We were both blown away by how much Sonic fans had donated, would you like to know how much money was raised?

£1397.62

You guys are incredible!

But, the donations didn’t just come in the form of money, Special Effect also recieved a rather nice donation from Sonic the Hedgehog Merchandise, in the form of a very special book. It was a copy of the Collectors Edition of The History of Sonic the Hedgehog book. The english version.

Nick asked me what I thought of it and being under the paw of Merch Kitty, I told him what it was and gave him some insight into it. So Nick had an idea, and I thought it was brilliant. You see, the room we were in, also contained three other people…

 • Takashi Iizuka: The Head of Sonic Team.
 • Kazuyuki Hoshino: The Creator of Metal Sonic & Amy Rose.
 • Jun Senoue: Composer & Crush 40 guitarist.

So we asked them all if they would sign the book, and they did. The book, is now up for auction. All the money raised will go to Special Effect and help make gaming more accessible to people with life changing disabilities.

special effect2

The book alone is a great item to have, but to also have been signed by the head of Sonic Team, creator of Metal Sonic and a member of Crush 40, this is all sorts of awesome! Also included in the auction is a Special Effect sash which is also signed by this years Summer of Sonic guests.

Please dig deep for this one, it’s an absolute must have, but more importantly, it’s going to a very good cause.

A few details on the book.

 • Language: English.
 • Edition: Collectors Edition.
 • Number: 589 out of 1,000

You can find the auction here. It ends in just over 9 days.

Nick/Special Effect would like to give thanks to: Sega, Sonic the Hedgehog Merchandise, everyone involved with Summer of Sonic and the attendees of Summer of Sonic for their amazing donations so far.

For more information on Special Effect and the work they do, please visit their website.

Ken Pontac on Lost World’s Story

Ken Pontac

Sonic Lost World Writer Ken Pontac left some rather interesting comments on TSS with regards to the story and development of the previous titles. It’s only a few small pieces of information, but it’s interesting if you have an interest in game development.

Actually, this WAS the first time that Warren and I were asked to come up with the story. On Colors and Generations the stories were already in place.

AustinOnSugar, I appreciate your comment, which is (almost) absolutely accurate. Nobody EVER gets to write a story EXACTLY how they want unless they own the project and have total control of the edit. That being said, I’m very happy in the way that Warren and I were allowed to inject so much of our vision into the project.

Eggman is EPIC in this. He’s SO MUCH FUN to write!

One mistake doesn’t make someone an idiot. It’s how they DEAL with the mistake that makes them a hero.
