It’s that time of year again Blue Believers, when our wallets tremble as the stores start getting filled with all manner of new toys and products that have been teased to us all year long. So here at TSS, we’ve decided to try and review as many Sonic related products as we can to make your wallets life a bit easier, or harder if everything ends up being awesome! To start with, we’re going to look at a product which has been out for over a month, but had quite the reaction when it was announced. The Sonic X Hello Kitty plush!

Games Radar have uploaded a short video showing gameplay footage of ASRT on the Wii-U, however unlike your typical gameplay video, this one includes a picture in picture of the controller, giving you an idea as to what appears on the screen as well as how one controls the game.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwrHlPNPdPg
In terms of the game itself, the only criticisms I can spot are from the frame rate of the early build. The main problems seem to be with the controller itself. The screen is ‘distracting’ and that it’s ‘hard to press the boost’ assuming this means the ‘weapons fire’ button, since boost triggers automatically following a drift? That said there are a number of positives from the video like a ‘good sense of speed’ and the player does seem to be enjoying himself despite it being an early build.
Nothing much else new is shown in the video other than maybe some weapons, though we do get our first clear glimpse of the ‘Seaside Hill Monster,’ I don’t know if he/she has an official name yet. My theory? Eggman finally got Nessie.

Some of you may remember an old book published by ‘Ladybird’ called ‘Where’s Sonic?’ The book was pretty much a ‘Where’s Wally/Waldo’ clone, only it had Sonic characters instead of the mischievous man in the red and white jumper. In the 90’s and to this day these books were incredibly popular with kids and adults. If you were a kid sitting in the back of a car on a long journey, these books were a blast! So a Sonic themed one was a dream come true for lots of fans growing up in the 90’s.

A release date of October 2012 was also included, but no specific date provided.

We’ve known about it for months, we’ve seen boxarts and listings on websites, but the biggest question? What would the board look like? Tonight, USAOpoly answered that question. Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the Sonic the Hedgehog official Monopoly board.
That is… a lot better than I was expecting, especially after seeing what the Mario version looked like. USAOpoly say that the game will be in stores this September and more information about their other Sonic board games will be given over the coming weeks.
What do you think about the selection? Let us know in the comments, and yes, that is Mad Gear and Splash Hill on the top spots. A full list of What Zones they all are can be found here thanks to SSMB forum member Blue Blood.

“You… You would complain about Sonic? Put him in the GeneZap.”
The GeneZap is the brainchild of two French modders who have decided that playing Genesis games wasn’t quite entertaining enough, so they’ve created a device that reacts when the player’s character takes damage or is killed, the device punishes the player by giving them an electric shock!

German fans are in for a treat, Panini have announced that their newest publication a ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ is now out. Priced at just under 3 Euro’s the magazine contains, well… we’re not entirely sure. According to Sega’s documents which were released during the Vegas Licensing Expo, this is likely to be the Archie comics magazine which was mentioned there. The press release also mentions activity pages, competitions as well as other monthly surprises.
The first issue offers readers the chance to win a voucher for 100 Euros to spend at SonicMerchandise.com as well as a free gift, a Sonic gyro toy. The magazine is a bi-monthly publication, which means a new issue will come out once every two months. If anyone has a copy of this, let us know in the comments what you think of it.

It seems funny to think why this has taken so long to make, Sonic is over 20 years old, yet I could name franchises not even half that age which have more printed publications like this. Why it took Sonic 20 years to catch on is anyone’s guess. But, we finally have it! An official history of Sonic the Hedgehog, published by Pix’n Love, fully authorized by Sega.

The statue is a nice collectible… however, if one collector is right, it has a bit of a problem and depending how your statue is currently displayed you might want to take action.

“Modern Sonic isn’t as good as the classics! and here is my fifty billion reasons explaining why!” We’ve all seen threads like this, we’ll all seen youtube videos like this. It’s an old argument and even when the dislike is aimed at classic Sonic, usually the best reply is to ignore the random person…
However when a one Yuji Naka allegedly agrees with a journalist who put it to him that ‘Modern Sonic games are not as fun as past Sonic games.’ Suddenly, you take an interest in that discussion again.
