Sonic Monopoly Finally Announced!

Earlier in the year, we reported on a number of mysterious listings for a selection of various Sonic themed board games being made by USAopoly. However, with no word from Sega and various toy and game websites not reporting it, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a mistake… It wasn’t!

USAopoly recently posted the above teaser image on their Facebook page. No other images or information was given such as price, or even what zones would be on the board, but they did state…

Here is a sneak peek at a few Sonic The Hedgehog titles speeding their way to retail shelves in the near future, also be on the lookout for a new Sonic puzzle as well!

 

Here’s hoping we’ll get more information soon, stay tuned to TSS. Now… anyone wanna guess what the Old Kent Road space is going to be? I wanna play as the Bouncy Barrel play piece… Oh and, come stay at the Hotel Death Egg, if you dare.

    Board pieces include – Motobug with rotating wheel, a Chaos Emerald, Star post with swivel action, Shadows pistol with working trigger..

  6. Many years ago, I bought a Monopoly board game from a garage sale so that I could turn it into a Sonic themed one. I don’t even remember why, I mean it’s not like anyone would actually play the board game with me, but… *shrug*

    So ya, I’m certainly interested in owning an *official* Sonic Monopoly… I’m just not sure my wallet is. Or my family, for that matter. It’s a good collectors item either way.

  7. Houses should be rings and hotels can be chaos emeralds. I would be super happy if one of the railroads were to be the Robotnik Express, as a reference to that one episode of Aosth

    Oh wait, wrong article. Anyway, cannot wait to hear more news, I will definitely buy this if it comes to my local Walmart. 🙂 This board game has SO much potential!

      1. You jelly, bro? Shadow has a big fanbase, if he got kicked out, Sega would be kicking themselves in the balls. Besides, Iizuka realizes that Sonic games are about SONIC, not his friends (some with exceptions). If I were you, I wouldn’t worry about having Sonic’s friends overshadow Sonic anymore. 🙂

        1. SEGA will be kicking NOBODY out, especially the character who was ranked #3 most popular Sonic character in 2011. (Tails won hands down.)

          As for what TSSZ News claimed that was SEGA employers on 4chan, its B.S. In fact mostly everything reported on TSSZ is nothing but pro-Nintendo bias.

    1. At least you have a better chance than the Australian fan base. The only merchendice we get are products like a Amy hat from Adventure or a sonic backpack, also released around the same time as adventure. you can only find these if you kn0w where to go.

      1. Actually, Australia tends to get a lot of really cool stuff, the squeeze toys for instance, not to mention Ausralia tends to get some pretty cool collectors editions for games that don’t see light outside of Australian shores.

        1. Most of my merchandise is from Australia (born there, left in 2006)
          I was there on holiday last year and I bought lots of stuff you could only get there.. the iconcollectables coffee mug, the squeezey toys and key chains, the 20th Anniversary Mouse, MousePad and PC game set, a dozen of those Sonic Generations keyrings, I even saw the Chess Set (a little too pricey and I didnt have room for it with all the luggage I had) … my mum even sent me this awesome classic Sonic shirt you can’t find here in the States. I was pleased to see Toys R Us over there was getting the Jazwares toys.

          Australia had the CE and Steel book versions of Sonic Generations, neither of which were available here too.. the only real crap thing about Sonic in Australia is the price of the games :S

  11. I hope they’re selling this in the UK. Oh and two train stations could be Rail Canyon and Sunset Park Act 3.

    1. Wouldn’t Radical Train make more sense? Seeing as though the train was a core part of it… It and Rail Canyon/Bullet Station.

    jail will remain jail, but with Robotnik on the Go to jail square?
    The pieces could be Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Shadow and Robotnik (as per the cover art?)
    I reckon the colours of the original game could denote the zones – so Blue could be Labrynth / Hydrocity, Green for Green Hill / Emerald Hill, Yellow for Sandopolis, red for lava reef / red canyon etc
    The stations could become anything – modes of transport from SSASR?
    Electric and water company could become capsules! and sign posts!!
    Houses to become star posts, hotels giant rings?

    This could be quite good!

    Also any news on that english langauge version of the “history of Sonic” book yet?!!!

  27. Wow this is soo cool, really hope this pops up somewhere at a retailer near me or if not, at least on ebay. I’ve gotta get me one of these, monopoly just got a thousand times more awesome!

  30. Hmmmm, this… actually does look interesting, it really does. I like how everybody has their Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing artwork except for Eggman and Sonic. Sonic has completely new artwork and looks ready to kill, and Eggman has his Sonic Colors artwork. Still looks like the coolest board game ever though. XD

  39. Ya….this was announced a while ago. May 15th to be exact. You’re too slow.

    1. Once again, the citizens of Gotham were awoken to Calendar Man’s cruel scheme, for the Sonic Monopoly was announced, yet Gotham was unaware thanks to Calendar man not telling anyone about it.

      The citizens call may 15th…. The day USAopoly didn’t tell anyone outside of their facebook page about the Sonic monopoly. Not even Batman could save them now.

  45. Ooh, yes. I hope they draw Sonic in the same 1920s-esque style like they did for Mario and Nintendopoly. Also, whoever said jail should be Prison Island, you are a genius and I tip my hat to you.
