Xbox.com Releases Two New Sonic Adventure 2 HD Screenshots

Sonic Adventure 2 has returned to Xbox.com after a long time away following its initial leak on the website back in June. Ten screenshots were posted back then with one of them of Sonic and Shadow racing showing a PlayStation circle button, but this time that screenshot has humorously been replaced with one of both characters jumping so as to not show the brakes option. The Chao Karate screenshot has also been replaced with one of Sonic in the Chao Kindergarten. You can view both new screenshots in our gallery below.

S&ASRT Facebook Tab Now Live, Why Sonic is in Vehicles REVEALED!

SEGA has this evening opened a Facebook tab for all things Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on their official Sonic the Hedgehog Facebook page. It appears this will be in place of an official website for the game, as Sumo Digital confirmed a while back on the SSMB that their won’t be an official site this time. The Facebook tab has all of the features of a game website such as trailers, screenshots, features etc, but right now there isn’t anything new. We’ll keep our eyes open for any updates in the run up to launch, though.

Something we did notice is a SEGA rep answering fans questioning why Sonic is in vehicles and thought we would share it with you.

Now can we put an end to this question at long last, please? Pretty please?

S&ASR Transformed to Feature ‘Mild Language’ and ‘Animated Blood’

SEGA’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed product page has updated with an ESRB rating of E10+ listing Animated Blood, Mild Language and Mild Cartoon Violence. Could the House of the Dead franchise be making a return appearance in Transformed with blood intact? If we take a look at the rating for the first game, it appears the mild language doesn’t derive from lyrics this time around. Could Shadow be returning to his d**n potty mouth ways? We expect a full rating will appear on the ESRB’s website soon. Maybe they will accidentally reveal a character again like they did with Ulala last time.

ASR Transformed: Xbox Avatars & DLC Confirmed, New Screenshots & PS Vita Info

Some new screenshots and details have been released online regarding SEGA’s upcoming racer Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The US official PlayStation website has put up product pages for both the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game which reveal that the Sony handheld version will support motion steering and will make use of the touchscreen for firing weapons and activating your character’s All-Star move. Amazon.com Outs S&ASR Transformed ‘Bonus Edition’ and World Tour Mode

Amazon.com and .co.uk have today updated their listings for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed with a full product description that reveals a ‘World Tour’ mode. Amazon.com has also updated all versions of the game to a ‘Bonus Edition’, though, unfortunately, they don’t explain what this edition of the game includes. We’ll keep an eye out for an update.

S&ASR Transformed Character Roster to Differ Across Platforms

Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycett aka S0L has informed fans via the official SEGA Forums that the character roster for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will differ across platforms. The total number of characters across all platforms is 29, but no single version will include all 29. Some will have low 20’s and others will have high 20’s. Steve says this is because some platforms feature characters that are unique to that platform, but won’t announce which right now. However, he does say that some are SEGA characters and some are not.

SEGA Want Sonic to be as Popular as Hello Kitty

Sonic the Hedgehog may be a well-known gaming character, but SEGA want his popularity to reach beyond gamers. How do they plan on doing that? With more licensing and merchandise. SEGA’s Jurgen Post, COO of Sega Europe, hopes that one day Sonic will be as iconic as Sanrio’s Hello Kitty.

“Sonic is a well-known character, but we’ve got a lot of room to grow in merchandising,” he told MCV.

“We dream of Hello Kitty. We’re still far off from that but we can see that our profits are growing year on year in the US and Europe [on merchandising].

“We’ve got a licensing team on the ground in the UK who are focusing on that and that team will expand. We’ve got a team in the US and which will also expand. We used to run it all out of Sega of Japan, but having people on the ground is making a big difference.

“We will always do the computer game but the merchandising is a very important aspect to Sonic.”

I guess we now know why this is happening.

Sonic Adventure 2 Avatar Items Coming to Xbox Live June 5th

Xbox Live’s Major Nelson has just posted the latest Xbox Live Marketplace release schedule detailing all games and other items being released over the next couple of weeks. Among them are Sonic Adventure 2 Avatar items planned to be released June 5th, which, conveniently, is when E3 begins. Could SEGA be planning to unveil an Xbox Live Arcade port of Sonic Adventure 2 soon?

The Dreamcast classic was featured in a leaked list of XBLA games back in early April, and as you may recall, that list outed Harmonix’s Rock Band Blitz game before it was announced.

We’ll keep our eyes open for any further developments.

Sonic 4: Episode I Sold Best on PS3 on Consoles

SEGA Digital Brand Manager Ken Balough has revealed at the SEGA Forums that Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I sold best on the PlayStation 3 platform on consoles. Xbox 360 came second and Wii last. The news is quite a twist when compared to retail Sonic titles, where Nintendo’s consoles usually come out on top. No information was given as to where PC and mobile platforms ranked.

Will the same happen for Episode II? Time will tell. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II is out now on Steam in the UK, and will be released later today in other territories. The PSN version will also be released later today in the US, then Europe tomorrow. The Xbox Live Arcade version is due out worldwide tomorrow.

SEGA Talks to Cheat Code Central About the Future of Sonic

Cheat Code Central got some time to speak to a few SEGA representatives at the recent PAX East event about the future of the Sonic the Hedgehog series and have today published all of the juicy details. First of all we learn that like Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 will not receive any DLC add-on content, BUT Episode 2 does not end the Sonic 4 story.

The booth reps also said that SEGA is committed to delivering more classic Sonic games in the future. While they confirmed that there would be no DLC add-ons for Episode II, they did say that Episode II does not end the Sonic 4 story. Instead, they are taking Sonic games one at a time. If Episode II does well, Episode III will come out. After that, IV, and so on until they get to the point where they are ready to develop Sonic 5 (the rep speculated this wouldn’t be until after Sonic 4: Episode IV).

Sonic 4: Episode 2 EU Release Dates Update

SEGA Europe has today released the European version of the recent Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 trailer. In it we get an update on the European release dates for the game, but unlike the US, we don’t get anything more solid than the month of May for the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. The PC, iOS and Tegra 3 compatible versions will also launch in May, with the Android/Google Play version following in June, and the Windows Phone 7 version made available later in July.

Eurogamer also reports that Sonic 4: Episode 2 will be priced at 1200 MSP on Xbox Live, £9.99 on PlayStation Network, and £12.99 for PC. No pricing info was given for the other versions, but we’ll pass on those details when they’re made available.
