Sonic Adventure 2 Avatar Items Coming to Xbox Live June 5th

Xbox Live’s Major Nelson has just posted the latest Xbox Live Marketplace release schedule detailing all games and other items being released over the next couple of weeks. Among them are Sonic Adventure 2 Avatar items planned to be released June 5th, which, conveniently, is when E3 begins. Could SEGA be planning to unveil an Xbox Live Arcade port of Sonic Adventure 2 soon?

The Dreamcast classic was featured in a leaked list of XBLA games back in early April, and as you may recall, that list outed Harmonix’s Rock Band Blitz game before it was announced.

We’ll keep our eyes open for any further developments.

No Multiplayer or Co-op in Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2?

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 now has a product page on Xbox.com and in it there is yesterday’s trailer up for download to your Xbox 360 console as well as a few more details about the game. It seems the game won’t feature multiplayer or co-op, despite Tails’ inclusion. Online leaderboards are returning and the game will also support full 1080p resolution and in-game Dolby Digital.

The product description reads:

The Sonic 4 Saga continues in Episode II, with the return of Tails and Metal Sonic! In the follow up to Episode I there are surprises in store with the arrival of Sonic’s legendary sidekick Tails! Race across all new zones and defeat the evil forces of Dr. Eggman and fearsome rival Metal Sonic. The wait is finally over when the game releases in 2012

New Sonic 4 Screenshots On Xbox Live Marketplace

17 new Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 screenshots have appeared on the Xbox Live Marketplace, which give us more insight into the recently revealed Lost Labyrinth Zone, as well as more of Splash Hill Zone. The screenshots look to be taken from the recent demo being shown to press, since we can see some of the changes in effect, such as Sonic’s speed-induced blurred running animation.

Since these screenshots are currently not available anywhere on the internet, I’ve taken the pleasure of capturing them on camera from my TV, so apologies for the quality. If we see better versions of the pics, we’ll update. If you have an Xbox 360, you can view them on your TV at the games section in the Xbox Live Marketplace. Unfortunately, the screens haven’t been added to the games product page at Xbox.com.

Check out all 17 screenshots below:

Details have also been given as to when PS3 users will get the Metal Sonic and Egg Hangar DLC which is April 22nd. Also revealed is a Premium Theme PS3 owners will be able to decorate their XMB with.

Metal Sonic & Track Pack £4.79 €5.99 $7.99
Premium Theme £1.59 €1.99 $2.49

A statement has also been given regarding the incorrect price issue earlier today –

NOTE: Due to an issue earlier it was being mistakenly priced at 800 points – apologies for this, we put out a warning across the fan boards as soon as we found out. We’re speaking with Microsoft to see if anything can be done for those of you who purchased early. Please make sure its says 560MSP when you purchase it.

UPDATE 6: The price has now been corrected in all countries from 800MSP to 560MSP. Big shout out to thank ArchangelUK for his work on getting this fixed and keeping everyone updated.

UPDATE 5: From AAUK at the SSMB

Re: Refunds – Yes I’m asking about that, don’t worry. My first concern was that.

I can confirm no PS3 DLC today… when the blog goes up (its being delayed by waiting for the price to change and getting some confirmation on the above) it’ll have the date/prices for PS3.

UPDATE 4: Mike Kebby of the the SCEE PlayStation Store Team has posted his weekly PlayStation Store update on the EU PlayStation blog revealing there will be no ASR DLC released today for EU PS3 version, we’ll keep an eye out for the U.S. PlayStation Store update.

UPDATE 3: WARNING! We’ve just heard from AAUK that there’s a price issue with this DLC so we recommend you hold off just a little until this afternoon.

UPDATE 2: Metal Sonic & Death Egg Zone: Egg Hangar DLC weighing in at 152MB is now available on the U.S. Xbox Live Marketplace and the UK Xbox Live marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points.

UPDATE: We’ve just got word that the patch allows Banjo & Kazooie to be used by the CPU players. Thanks go to FireKingX at the SEGA Forums!/UPDATE END

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing fans may remember a bug-fix and DLC enabling patch was released last Wednesday for the PS3 version before the Metal Sonic and Death Egg Zone: Egg Hangar DLC was released the very next day but then quickly pulled off the PlayStation Store. Well now the same patch has just been released this morning for the Xbox 360 version, if you download it and then check the online multiplayer matchmaking screen you will see a DLC tab which informs players that room is using DLC content meaning you can only enter that lobby if you have the DLC being used in that room. The Ryo Forklift DLC is the only exception to that rule since you only download a key to unlock him on the disc, Metal Sonic and the Death Egg Zone: Egg Hangar and any future DLC is all new content.

The PS3 version got the patch the day before the DLC was released so with tomorrow’s Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store updates we will hopefully see the Metal Sonic and Death Egg Zone: Egg Hangar content released, we’ll let you know if it appears.

Thanks again to Yuluga for the pic!

First Piece of ASR DLC Hits Xbox Live Marketplace

The first piece of downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing at least has hit the Xbox Live Marketplace. Priced at 400 Microsoft Points you get what is essentially a key to unlock all content in the game, so those hoping for characters, tracks or music will have to wait a little bit longer.

The content is described as below –

Race past the competition and speed your way to victory with a whole host of Sonic & SEGA All-Star characters and exhilarating tracks. Unlock all 24 tracks and 22 characters from the start with this exclusive download. Winning has never been so sweet!

In a post at the SSMB Steve Lycett Executive Producer at Sumo Digital has confirmed there is better DLC coming –

Yeah, that’s the boring DLC, it gets better

Laser gates? LOL – yet another one to add to the gaffe list. The Final Fortress tracks used to have laser gates that popped out of the tracks to block you. We took them out as they really slowed the race down – and could pop up right when you least wanted them.

Of course there was a cameo on the Final Fortress tracks too….

This first piece of DLC hasn’t hit the PS3’s PlayStation Store yet but we’ll keep an eye out for it.

Like the Apotos & Shamar Adventure Pack this is a double pack for the same 250 MS Points consisting of 5 daytime stages and 4 nighttime stages. The Japanese Playstation Store has oddly not received this new pack today but we’ll be checking the European and U.S. Playstation Store’s when they update later today and let you know if we see any new Sonic Unleashed downloadable content there.

The Xbox Live Marketplace describes the pack to contain five daytime stages and four nighttime stages with three brand new stages and six new missions.

I’ve downloaded the pack and here’s what’s been added:
Shamar consists of
Sonic:
Act 1-2: Get to the goal in time!

Sonic Mega Collection + Rated for XBLM

smc-xbox

European ratings board PEGI have rated the Xbox Original title Sonic Mega Collection Plus for Xbox Live Arcade. We can only assume they mean the ‘Originals’ section of the Marketplace, and not the Live Arcade itself. For those who don’t know, SMC+ is an Xbox re-release of a Gamecube Sonic compilation, with added Game Gear titles as well as a few hidden non-Sonic titles.

PEGI have rated the game 7+, which is odd because they rated the original Xbox version 12+, so could we see some cuts in this port? Another thing that’s odd about this is that the original Xbox version is backwards compatible with the Xbox 360 anyway, the Mega Drive games will soon be released in SEGA’s newest compilation (SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection) and two of those Mega Drive titles are already on the Xbox Live Arcade.

Oh well, if it’s going cheap and people can’t find the original Xbox game and want some added Game Gear action, this will be a good buy for them.
