Hail to the King (of Pop), baby!
As if the world hasn’t seen enough Michael Jackson/Sonic mash-ups, Hyper-Shan of the SSMB decided to combine one of the King’s tracks with something a little more recent than most combinations.
Thus, fusing Sky Fortress Acts 2 and 3 of Sonic 4: Episode II with They Don’t Care About Us, this mash-up was born!

Fancy yourself a piece of merchandise from one of the weirdest Sonic collaborations to date? The Sonic X Hello Kitty plush doll has been racing off the shelves in Tokyo being snapped up by Sonic and Hello Kitty fans alike, and like most awesome merchandise affiliated with our favourite hedgehog, western fans have to shell out big bucks to have goods imported. TSSZ News however are offering one lucky winner a chance to snag one of these plushes, with their Campaign KittyHog ’12 Contest!
Are you disgusted by your elected representatives? Can’t fathom putting Mittens on? Are you just Obummered out? Has your third party withered away from being a once great force in gaming? Allow us to nominate a new ticket: Sonic and Hello Kitty. We want you to promote the Sonic / Hello Kitty campaign. What are they running for? That’s for you to decide. Make a virtual button. Make a campaign poster. Make a Youtube video “ad.” You can even make an attack ad. Not artistically inclined? Write some campaign taglines. The more unique and creative you are, the better.
Full details can be found over on the TSSZ site, with the deadline for entries falling on the 30th of September.

As Jet Set Radio will see its first release onto the digital marketplace in a few short days (PSN+ users, you lucky gits), this week’s Mash-Up Monday is entirely dedicated to the man responsible behind most of JSR‘s delicious soundtrack. You may also recognize his work in Sonic Rush as well!
Yes, this week, we’ll be looking into mash-ups involving the music of the one and only Hideki Naganuma! We got a total of five mash-ups to celebrate his work!
First up is a mash-up by Seenik09, comprised of Naganuma’s Teknopathic from Jet Set Radio Future and something I’m sure you all miss dearly.

Multiplayer gaming. A wonderful gift as well as a terrible curse, it can bring out the worst in people no matter the genre: racing, parties, co-op, and in today’s case, fighting.
In games such as the Super Smash Brothers franchise, sore losers can and will go out of their own way to blame their loss on all sorts of things, whether it be Smash Balls and various items (of which I would imagine all players agreeing to beforehand), “distractions”, “not being at their best”, and other excuses.
Now, what if it were to happen in-game?
As Tigura21 demonstrates, the world of Brawl is now divided over whether or not the usage of items should be banned from here on out; Smashers such as Sonic and Marth give their separate views on this issue. What sparked this debate, you may ask?
Well, it all began when the Cracker Launcher item was working a little too well…

It’s common knowledge that Sonic has delved into many forms of media outside of his home territory, like numerous other gaming franchises. We have seen Sonic on television through 4 entirely different shows, we all listen to Sonic music, we’ll be seeing Sonic in theatres this fall, we own Sonic merchandise… Although we know of Sonic through comics, how many of us have ever even seen Sonic in manga? It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that none of you know of any, seeing as Sonic manga were never published outside of Japan!
Two such manga are known, one being the slapstick Dash & Spin; Super Fast Sonic!!, featured on CoroCoro Comic. And, thanks to the combined efforts of Recorderdude and Dr. Mack Foxx from Sonic Paradox, we will be checking out the manga’s first chapter today!

From SoS’12, we managed to bring you the Crush 40 concert, the Club Sonic setlist, NiGHTS’ and Reala’s unveiling in S&ASRT, as well as a contest to win some goodies (just closed!), but there’s one thing we’re missing: the shorts! To those who haven’t had the chance to see them up front and live: no need to fret! As of yesterday, all shorts featured have been uploaded!
A total of three animations were featured in front of a live audience. First up is Shadow the Hedgehog in Brief, followed by Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 in Brief, both parodies handled by Frobman, who previously animated Ring Energy’s Before the Machine and Sonic Heroes in Brief, the latter having been made for Summer of Sonic 2011. Though some would say they’re parodies, some would say both shorts depict each game as is… but that’s for you to decide!
The third and final animation is brought to you by Sonic Paradox! Instead of going with Shorts, the team took a more different route through Sonic Heroes with a music video. With Recorderdude on lyrics, Seaside Denied is split between four animators to handle the four different teams with numerous singers and voice actors, poking fun at every opportunity at both the game itself and the Paradox’s signature Shorts.
Enjoy!

Sore you couldn’t go to Summer of Sonic? Bummed out that you can’t go to Sonic Boom? Nothing can compare to being there on the day, but we hope to give two very lucky readers out there a little piece of the UK experience with our Summer of Sonic goodie bag!
We have a pair of these to give away, which include the Summer of Sonic tote bag, an Archie comic, a Summer of Sonic programme, a stick of Summer of Sonic rock, a Sonic birthday card and a code for Sonic Generations on the PC. As if that wasn’t enough, we’re throwing in one of the awesome 20th anniversary pin badges that have only been available at a few events, along with the brand new Crush 40 EP containing their three new tracks and a Crush 40 poster. What’s more; you will also receive the autographs of both Jun Senoue and Johnny Gioeli!
So what do you have to do to nab these awesome prizes? Well, all you need to do is answer these three easy-peasy questions about this year’s Summer of Sonic Event!
1) Which two SEGA characters were announced for Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing: Transformed by Steve Lycett?
2) What are the names of the two character theme songs that were performed by Jun Senoue and guest singers during the Jam with Jun?
3) Which two of our invited guests in attendance were involved with the UK Sonic the Comic?
Send your answers to all three questions to the usual competition address at competition@sonicstadium.org along with your name. The competition will close at 5:00pm BST on Friday 20th of July, and two winners will be chosen at random out of correct entries; winners will be notified by email soon after. This competition is open worldwide, so wherever you are on the planet, feel free to enter!

It’s that time again, guys! Put on those headphones and crank up that volume as we kick the week off with Mash-Up Monday!
Today, we highlight a very unique mash-up, put together by the likes of Shadowlink4321, who’s renowned for both machinimation and music on YouTube. The two mash-ups featured today are both from the same pair of songs!
Those who follow the works of Bentley Jones just might recognize one of the two songs! He has covered one of the opening themes to the anime Shakugan no Shana, named Joint, on his “TRANS//LATION 2” album. Presented in its original form, Joint is thrown together with Sonic and the Black Knight‘s final boss theme: With Me.
However, there’s a catch! As I’ve mentioned, there are two mash-ups here… And that’s exactly it! The first version of Joint With Me is in fact With Me‘s vocals added to Joint‘s melody, and the second version (found after the jump!) highlights Joint‘s vocals (in Japanese) through With Me‘s background music!
Enjoy~!

Yes, yes, oh my god yes.
Likely the Mash-Up Monday to end all Mash-Up Mondays (METAPHOR. Do not take this seriously!), we’ve got a real sexy piece of ear candy for you all!
Possibly one of the greatest RPGs available on the Nintendo DS, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story brought about one of the most chaotic final showdowns ever experienced in the Mario series. In fact, it shares quite a few similarities with that of Sonic the Hedgehog 2‘s Death Egg Robot.
For one, both battles take place in an isolated area on top of the world: one being on a tower atop Peach’s Castle, another being in the colossal Death Egg orbiting the planet.
Secondly, being final showdowns, the fate of the world rests on the heroes’ shoulders. Sonic chases Eggman through emerald hills and metropolises to thwart his dastardly efforts of taking over the world for the second time, without the bare essentials to keep him alive for longs (rings); Bowser, with the intention of ruling the Mushroom Kingdom in the future, takes on a Dark Star-created, destruction craving clone of himself in a battle of the titans, while Mario and Luigi destroy Fawful and the Dark Star Core from inside Bowser’s body. All sorts of chaos is happening in both scenarios.
And three, with final bosses comes FANTASTIC BACKGROUND MUSIC.
Hence, I am happy to share with you all the most glorious mash-up to hit TSS. Combining the final boss themes from Bowser’s Inside Story and Sonic 2 (with a little bit of Super Mario Galaxy on the side), we present to you:
“Bowser vs Robotnik”!
