Update: More clues have been found at the Steam Forums. See below for full details…
Sumo Digitals Steve Lycett (Aka S0L) has done an awesome job keeping fans updated about ASRT’s development and providing support to fans long after the games release. As well as dropping a few hints and teases that additional content might be in the works for the game. Well… a few hours ago S0L posted the following on the Sega forums in a topic entitled ‘Any News on DLC?’
So tomorrow will be interesting. For a number of reasons. Better pack my flame proof suit…
In other posts made by S0L over at the Steam forums, S0L has dropped other hints.
Скоро зима (If you run this one through google translate, you get ‘winter is coming’)
Is it me, or is it getting really cold all of a sudden. I wonder what tomorrow will bring…
In addition to this, several people who own the PC version of ASRT have noted that there has recently been a number of changes made to that game which would indicate an update is on the way. Could it be that we might finally get that DLC news we’ve been waiting for? Let the speculation begin!

The Summer of Sonic website has announced this evening that Sonic Team sound director Jun Senoue will be making his return to Summer of Sonic this year. Sonic fans will know him for his work on the soundtracks for Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the Sonic Adventure games and most recently Sonic Generations.
Senoue-san will be performing a selection of tunes from across his career and will even be meeting with fans at the Summer of Sonic signing booth. Times and details are yet to be announced, but we’ll pass that information along when it becomes available.

Boom! Now the announcements start! Sega & the official Sonic the Hedgehog twitter account have announced that fan favourite Crush 40 will be coming to Sonic Boom this year. Although no details were given as to what Crush 40 will be doing, it’s safe to assume that they will be performing, afterall, the venue is a concert hall. However, don’t forget, Sonic Boom does other stage events and both Jun & Johnny have taken part in booth SOS & Boom stage activities at previous conventions, so they might appear in other regards.
Tickets for the event have also just gone on sale and can be purchased from Ticketmaster, according to TicketMaster, a single ticket will cost $29.
Tickets can be purchased from TicketMaster as of now.

It seems odd that we’re only at the start of July, yet here I am reporting on more merchandise with the year 2014 written on it. According to a listing on Forbidden Planet, Sonic will be getting a calendar for 2014.
The calendar will be released at the end of this month, yes you read that right. Despite it being for 2014, it’s getting a very early release date of Tuesday 30th July. However, Pyramid International, the company making it claims the release date is the end of August, so not sure whats going on there.
The price is also very reasonable at only £6.89. Considering most calendars cost over £10 near christmas, this is one heck of a deal.
No teaser pages were given, just the cover page that you can see above, personally, I really hope there are some original artworks in this one like the ones from the early 90’s which look stunning.
According to the product page on Pyramid International, the size of the calendar is 30X30cm.
So, anyone going to pre-order?

The Game Gear love on the Nintendo 3DS continues this week as two new Sonic games arrive on Nintendo’s downloadable retro service – and if you’re looking for a pair of obscure, challenging titles to sink your teeth into, this might well be the week you’ve been waiting for!

Today truly does mark the day of the second fiddle for Nintendo gamers – not only has Mario’s lankier brother jumped into the spotlight with the release of New Super Luigi U on Wii U, but now Sonic’s twin-tailed sidekick has seen a re-release of one of his solo Game Gear outings on Nintendo 3DS. That’s right, folks… Tails Adventure is back!
Tails Adventure was the second Tails game to hit the SEGA Game Gear handheld back in the day and sees Miles Prower traversing an island (referred to as “Cocoa Island” in Japan and “Tails Island” in the West) in order to stop an army of robotic birds known as the Battle Kukku Army. It’s a slower, more RPG-like experience with lots of item collecting and backtracking, so don’t go into this one expecting a high speed Sonic platformer! Using his flying ability and weapons like hammers, remote-controlled robots, and bombs (and we mean lots of bombs!), Tails has to make his way through several puzzles to save the day.
The game is now available to download from the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Europe for £4.49.
Will you be downloading Tails Adventure? Do you have any fond memories of playing it on the Game Gear? Let us know in the comments!

No doubt continuing on from Nintendo and SEGA’s newfound partnership, today marks the release of not one, not two, not three, but four Game Gear games on the Nintendo 3DS eShop! We’ve already seen the likes of Sonic Triple Trouble and Sonic Blast hitting the Big N’s 3D handheld system, but now you can add some more titles to your digital retro SEGA collection, with two Sonic themed games leading the pack.

Well they certainly kept this one quiet! Pedigree Books have announced that they will be releasing a new Sonic The Hedgehog Interactive Annual which is expected in stores this August. However, this isn’t just your typical annual or yearbook, this one has a special party trick. It takes advantage of Augmented Reality.
If you have a smart phone or another device that can perform this party piece, if you hold it above certain pages, you’ll be treated to additional content such as stories, activities, annimations, puzzles and even extended character profiles. Pedigree claims 20% of the book will have the ability to do this.
The range will be sold alongside other franchises and be catergorised as ‘Super Interactive Annuals’ and will go on sale this August. No details on prices or if this would be released worldwide were given, however odds are you’ll probably find a comic book store or online bookshop that might be willing to import it for you.
As a bit of trivia, to my knowledge, the last time a Sonic annual/yearbook came out was back in 1992, twenty one years ago… if you are old enough to remember seeing these in bookshops, high-five… that was a totally radical time.

Whether you love it or loathe it, the Mario & Sonic series of Olympic-themed games is set to continue later this year with Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games set in Russia – and because it’s E3 this week, there’s a load of new screenshots! Be sure to check them out in the gallery below.
Additionally, there’s a few tidbits of information about the game from a PR e-mail posted on the GoNintendo website. No exact release date has been set yet, but we can expect to find out when the unlikely duo will be skating their way onto Wii U in due course.
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games: The game includes a variety of events from the Winter Games, including bobsleigh, skiing, figure skating pairs and snowboard slopestyle – which will make its Olympic Games debut in Sochi, Russia. Different events might use the Wii Remote Plus controller, Wii U GamePad controller or both. In addition to realistic events, the game also includes Dream Events set in the worlds of Sonic and Mario that let players perform moves not possible in real life. Launch details and timing will be announced at a later date.

Update: It would appear that Gonintendo got it wrong. The game does not yet have a firm release date, the only date given is ‘holiday 2013.’
Original Story: According to a Press Release sent to gonintendo.com. Sonic Lost World will be released a lot sooner than expected, on October 13th for both the Wii U and 3DS. Odds are this is the US release since EU games are typically released on a Friday, no news yet on special/limited editions, but we’ll keep you updated if anything new comes.

We get a lot of requests here at TSS for reviews and news on various different items. Today we finally review something that fans have requested for a long time… This LA Convention Centre Escalator.
The escalator makes travelling different floors a breeze, one just has to stand on the pannels and hold onto the handrail. The escalator will take you under it’s own power to the desired floor destination. Travel both up and down, no online pass required, multiplayer mode is supported with aproximately 20-30 people able to use the esculator at a time with a co-op mode for parents with small children.
The escalator has a built in safety cut off switch and emergency power off button. This is designed to prevent injury in case of emergency, such as a badnik attack. The views from the escalator are catered to the videogaming individual, with directions to various exhibits and demonstration booths, as well as merchandise and refreshments stalls.
Transportation takes under 30 seconds. This is recommended escalator for those attending E3.
And it looks awesome.

In a press release regarding yesterday’s Sonic Lost World updates, Nintendo Germany has revealed that all three Nintendo exclusive Sonic games will be released this year. That includes Sonic Lost World for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games for Wii U and the unannounced third title.
The portion of the press release containing this information reads:
Today, they (Sega) revealed further details of the second of three titles, which the two companies will release exclusively on Wii U and 3DS. All three games will be released this year.
With the third title being released the same year as the other two games, could it be a spin-off? A small digital game? Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

According to a couple of our readers, the official Sonic Facebook page leaked the Sonic Lost World announcement early this morning, including three images and the promise of more details May 29th. One of the images sounds like the above one released this afternoon, while another is said to have featured the outline of six ‘guardians’ from the game who may be friends or foes. What gives these details some credibility is that both readers say the leaked post mentioned the SEGA and Nintendo partnership for the next three Sonic games BEFORE it was even announced this afternoon.

When asked about the current console tradition and how SEGA views the market right now, Einhorn briefly mentions some “very exciting” plans for Sonic in the near future in the below snippet.
Ethan Einhorn: We’re taking, on the console side, more of a pillar approach. We’re doing some very exciting things with Sonic as a brand in the near future. We’re also very heavily focused on strategy, as you’ve seen with our pickup of [Company of Heroes developer] Relic, as well as what we’re doing with [Total War developer] Creative Assembly. Following close in the wake of Sonic Jump, Sonic Dash seems like an obvious choice in format for a portable Sonic game; an endless runner for a hedgehog who is reknowned for running. Tails Adventure could be on its way to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, if a rating made by the Australian Ratings Board is any indication. SEGA weren’t kidding when they said Sonic Dash will be released “soon”, if a report from Pocket Gamer France is to be believed. The website, which revealed a bunch of details about the game on Friday, claims Sonic Dash will be released on the App Store this Thursday. With SEGA only formally unveiling the game today with bare bones details and some artwork, many wouldn’t expect a release so soon. iOS games are often released about two weeks after their announcement and SEGA hasn’t even shown any screenshots or video footage of it.
Looking back, though, SEGA did list it in that Hardlight Studio job advertisement last week as a past success, like the game is complete and ready to go.
