Hardlight Working on Sonic Dash for iOS?

Sonic Dash Hardlight job posting

It appears SEGA’s UK-based Hardlight studio is working on another Sonic game for iOS called Sonic Dash following their last title Sonic Jump. In a few job advertisements for the studio posted this afternoon on LinkedIn, Sonic Dash is listed as one of their two recent successes, with Sonic Jump being the other game. SEGA has since removed the title, but luckily we screen-capped the information in the above image.

Company Description

Jazwares Toy Fair 2013 Booth, New Toys Confirmed!

A couple of days ago I posted a roundup of all the Sonic related merchandise news I could find at the New York Toy Fair, in that post I mentioned that there was another toy fair in Nuremberg about a week prior and how Sega/Jazwares had a very big Sonic presence, but no photos of the event had come to light… until now.

jazwarestoys2013

A fellow merch collector over at Spindash.de was at the event and took a rather large selection of photos, including the contents of the Jazwares booth, which was displaying several toys that have yet to be announced.

Did I mention these photographs are all clear without obstruction? If your curiosity is ready, your wallets might not be.

Aliens: Colonial Marines has a Sonic 3 Reference

Aliens: Colonial Marines was released last week and… it’s pretty bad. No really, it’s bad, and not in the good ‘Who’s bad!?’ kind of way. Anyway, it’s also a game that’s full of hidden Easter Eggs, including a reference to the Special Stages from Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. Sonic at Toy Fair 2013 Round Up

jazzwarestoyfair2013

As mentioned a few days ago, the annual New York Toy Fair (NYTF) was held this week. Why is this a big deal? Well, for toy makers who have a license to make Sonic toys, this is the one of the best chances for them to promote their upcoming toys to retailers, buyers and the press. To compare it to videogames, this Toy Fair is the toy version of an event like E3.

In the last two years, NYTF booths have had a big Sonic presence at them and this years was no exception. However, unlike previous years in which Jazwares’ booth accidentally (though it wasn’t clear at the time) spoilt the announcement of Sonic Generations, security on unannounced products has been quite tight, very few photographs have been taken of the new merchandise… but that doesn’t mean we didn’t discover a few new things you might find of interest.

SEGASonic:Radio 9 Hour Livecast for TSSMA12 – Saturday 4pm GMT

While the core of SEGASonic:Radio is still undergoing refurbishment, tradition marches on from last year as the next Sonic Stadium Music Album approaches! And you know what that means?

Around this time last year, SS:R Bossman BlitzChris streamed the entirety of the 2011 album before its release, the show having clocked in around 2 to 3 hours to a very excitable audience. In December, I teased with a 1 hour preview of the upcoming album during the SS:R Christmas Blast. By the Livecast, it clocked in at around 4 hours…

Since then, the fun has been doubled.

Clear your schedules, fake sick for work, and nestle yourself nice and comfy-like in the safety of your own home, for The Sonic Stadium Music Adventure 2012 will be streamed in its entirety this Saturday at 4pm, GMT! The 140+ track megalith behemoth of a compilation will air on SEGASonic:Radio’s The Music Plant Zone, with me as your gracious host!

The album itself clocks in at around 8 hours, split down into 10 discs!

See you all in the chatroom on Saturday!

Funko Shows off New Sonic Vinyl Figures

Back in June last year, we were able to reveal that the statue/figure maker Funko would be releasing a series of Sonic figures based on their ‘POP’ range. Since then there hasn’t been much word on the figures. However, that changed today when Funko showed off their Sonic range at the NY Toy Fair today.

He was mocked by his peers and became known as the Sonic fan that couldn’t finish Sonic 2. A year has passed, is Tanner ready to face his fear?

Happy Hedgehog Day 2013!

Today people across the globe will be turning their calendars to 2nd February, which means it’s Groundhog Day – or, as SEGA have deemed it in the past few years, “Hedgehog Day”, coinciding with the release date of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in the US back in 1994. To mark this occasion, a special post has been put up on the official SEGA Blog – and maybe there’s a bit more to it than first meets the eye…
