Hardlight Working on Sonic Dash for iOS?

Sonic Dash Hardlight job posting

It appears SEGA’s UK-based Hardlight studio is working on another Sonic game for iOS called Sonic Dash following their last title Sonic Jump. In a few job advertisements for the studio posted this afternoon on LinkedIn, Sonic Dash is listed as one of their two recent successes, with Sonic Jump being the other game. SEGA has since removed the title, but luckily we screen-capped the information in the above image.

  1. Well, Sonic Jump was pretty fun and addictive, I have hopes that they make another good game but with a drastically different gameplay.

    Perhaps it’s a racer?

    1. Sonic’s already got Quick Step in his arsenal. Perhaps the game will be like the Quick Step sections in Jungle Joyride (HD), Planet Wisp, Starlight Carnival, etc.
(Come to think of it, there was a fan game a couple of SAGE’s ago that consisted entirely of Quick Step and similar sections.)

  2. I seriously hope these games aren’t canon to the main Sonic story.
Even though iOS is a good mobile platform, how many people have access to it?
    I know I don’t and any who own Blackberry’s don’t.

    1. Might as well be. I honestly don’t get why people are so hellbent on which games are canon or not. Sonic isn’t a very story driven series. Or, at least, none of them have very good plots.

    2. Well, the story of the game is way too simple; Eggman kidnaps Sonic’s animal friends and turn them into robots, then he and 9 of the most popular Sonic characters join forces to stop Eggman, I don’t think it makes much difference if it’s canon or not.

    3. PERHAPS THIS GAME WILL FINALLY UNITE THE SATAM AND GAME CANONS AND MY SONIC/HOMESTUCK/SESAME STREET CROSSOVER FANON

    4. Well, that clears that up then.

While Sonic games are spread across a variety of stories, sometimes in one game [and we all know how confusing that gets], the iOS games are just what every other smartphone game is.
A time killer, but one with a brand name behind it.

    5. I don’t have the platform to buy this on, I haven’t got a new mobile in like 5 years but I can’t really be bothered to anyway since I barely use a mobile.

    6. Are you serious? iOS is freaking *huge*. iDevices are massively widespread.

And besides, Sonic Jump got ported to Android as well. Between that and iOS, that’s a lot of people covered.

  3. I’m having visions of a sonic temple run…

Hopefully with all the characters from sonic jump too…

    1. A Sonic temple run could be cool… Provided that there were obstacles ie giant saws as well as badniks

    1. That would be cool, but they’d have to figure out how to incorporate both screens into the game play.

  4. Wow, you guys are amazing! I would never think of going to hardlight’s job listing page for new Sonic games. Anyway, I guess we can check off one of those digital titles now, right? You know guys, that there is some chance that it can possibly be a completely original game, but I am still betting on a temple run based game. I just hope they add their own fun to it like they did with Sonic jump.

  5. I also hope this will be multi-platform. Haven’t played Sonic Jump, but I would like to, especially if it can be on something other than an i device. Not that I have anything against i devices, I just don’t have any. A computer version would suit me just fine.

  6. No one else wondering about this “building on the success of their first projects on iOS – Sonic Jump & Sonic Dash”…how can an unreleased game like Sonic Dash be listed as a “success” along with Sonic Jump, when it hasn’t even been released? Unless i am reading that wrong somehow.

  7. Hmm.. reminds me of Rainbow Da- Hee Hee! Sonic and Ponies~ :3 Would make for super awesome crossover game in my opinion!!~

  8. They have got to stop leaking game titles on “LinkedIn”. Ubisoft and others did leak the games on “LinkedIn”.

  9. I just got Sonic Jump today and plan to get this when it’s out. Sounds like and endless runner… maybe a Temple Run-styled game, or better yet, a Rayman Jungle Run-styled game? 😀
