Paramount’s Movie Trailer Remade With Animated Cartoon Sonic

It’s hard not to feel a little sorry for the Paramount Studios team behind the Sonic movie. Since the original trailer was released a month ago, fans have gone out of their way to re-imagine the CG Sonic model in image form. But one Sonic fan has gone beyond – by redoing the entire trailer with an animated re-interpretation of the blue blur. Continue reading Paramount’s Movie Trailer Remade With Animated Cartoon Sonic

The Sonic Movie To Release In 2019

Ever since it’s announcement, details regarding the Sonic movie have been incredibly thin, despite being a live action-CG hybrid, we don’t even have a cast list for it, and it only very recently announced that Deadpools director would be directing the film.

So when rumours and mumbles of a 2018 release were being talked about, this seemed a bit unlikely given the lack of information released so far about the film.

Well, Sega have now said that the movie will now be coming in 2019 which is a far more realistic release year.

In an interview with Games Industry, they dropped the line that the film would now be released in 2019.

“Nostalgia is actually very much in vogue, which is one the reasons we’ve been chasing it down,” he says. “Everything Nintendo has been doing has been driving big waves in nostalgia, they’ve done some amazing things and they had a lot of success with the classic NES. There is a film and documentary coming out about retro gaming called Console Wars. We also have a Sonic movie coming in 2019.”

So there we have it, time to book your tickets to the far off future of 2019.

More Sonic in Wreck-It Ralph?

Looks like the blue blur might be in for more than just a PSA cameo.

On the Wreck-It Ralph Facebook page, a new poster for the upcoming Disney movie has been unveiled. What has caught the attention of many is the addition of a certain Sonic the Hedgehog.

Rich Moore has not only confirmed Sonic’s appearance in the film, but generously showed fans a clip of the film back at Sonic Boom, where Sonic is seen giving a public service announcement not too unlike those of the old Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. However, the new poster, along with a recently released Japanese trailer for the movie (viewable after the jump!), seems to suggest that Sonic just might be playing a much bigger role in this theatrical love letter to retro gaming.

Wreck-It Ralph will premiere in North American theatres on November 2nd. Ralph is also a playable character in the upcoming Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

BlueTube: When Your Mind Can’t Comprehend A Place Or A Time

Roareye from the Sonic Showcase Network was sent this video by Sasso Studios – it’s an attempt at turning a real life movie out of Sonic the Hedgehog. Le sigh. To be fair to the chap, this is a pretty well produced effort for an amateur endeavour, and his heart’s in the right place. And at least they were bold in making Knuckles a gurning white guy.

I guess it just shows that no matter how hard you try, you can never ever create a project like this without it looking completely and totally cheesy. And we’re not even talking Keith Chegwin cheesy, we’re talking Dale Winton’s Special Brand. “SON OF A GUNS!” Classic.

There are several parts to this production already on youtube, and it’s a valiant effort so worth the watch. Beats all those Shadow music videos anyway. Some of the acting is legend (I want to buy the bald guy a pint) and you could cut the sexual tension in the last 30 seconds with a chainsaw (the music when getting into the car is the icing on the cake). Oscar winning material.

Sonic Movie a Hoax? [UPDATE]

Sonique of Fans United for SatAM has spoken to Sonic News about the recent story of a possible Sonic movie in the works, stating that Richard Kuta’s chances of actually getting the project off the ground is slim.

Richard Kuta is NOT a film maker. What films has he made? None. Nada, zero zip, zilch. He’s just a guy who’s been banned from almost every Sonic forum ever made who has a dream. That’s it.” Sonique said in an email. “He’s never even written anything above fanfiction.

Interesting evidence and searching reveals no information on the animation company ‘Soloakai’ either. Sonique states that findings point to the group being makers of flash animations rather than a professional major movie production team. Our research only found the name ‘Soloakai’ on our own news reports. Continue reading Sonic Movie a Hoax? [UPDATE]

Sonic The Hedgehog Movie In Pre-Production?

Rumours have been flying around the Internet for years now about a Sonic The Hedgehog motion picture, however, one of these trails it seems may finally come into fruition. Film maker Richard Kuta has been working on an animated film based on the series known commonly to fans as Sonic SatAM, and has recently received approval for the project from Soloakai Animation.

After successful negotiations with SEGA throughout last year, Kuta and his co-writer initially pitched the film to IDT Entertainment, who mulled over the idea before eventually rejecting it. Since then the team proposed the film to Solokai Animation, who were more than happy to take the project onboard. Continue reading Sonic The Hedgehog Movie In Pre-Production?
