Brave Wave’s Vinyl Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 Soundtracks Are Getting A Reprint
A few years have passed since Brave Wave’s vinyl releases of the Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 soundtracks first came out. If you still haven’t gotten them yet, now’s your chance, because a reprint is on the way.
We don’t know how much they will cost. We also don’t know when they will release, although Brave Wave has suggested that fans “stay tuned for information on where to pre-order”. But we do know that the reprints will be 180g black vinyl.
If you need a refresher on what’s on the soundtracks, they contain the character theme songs and level tracks for both Adventure games. You’ll also get a comprehensive booklet featuring an interview with Jun Senoue and Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka.
But that’s not all. Also included are song lyrics, character art and even Liner Notes by John Linneman of Digital Foundry. You’ll even receive a digital download with your physical copy, in case you’d prefer listening to the music that way. You will want to hurry, though. The original releases sold out, so it’s very likely that these will do the same.

Jakks Pacific Bringing Articulated Sonic Figures to Toy Shops in the Fall
In a recent interview with toy enthusiast website Toy Hype USA, Jakks Pacific SVP of Marketing Craig Drobis confirmed that the company’s first articulated Sonic figures will arrive in the fall. The line will launch with four figures, including Sonic, Eggman, Tails and Shadow, each of which also come with an accessory from the games. In addition to these figures, Drobis also revealed that a yet-to-be-shown articulated Metal Sonic figure will be released before the end fo the year.
When asked about whether or not Sonic Heroes’ Neo Metal Sonic was in the cards, Drobis would only say that they hadn’t gotten to the character yet, because there focus has been on “classic and modern Sonic characters,” likely meaning any Sonic characters from the mid-2000s that are no longer relevant are currently out of luck.
These figures were first shown at the New York Toy Fair back in February, alongside a variety of other Sonic merchandise. The interview featured the first clear images of these figures, which you can check out below.

Sonic Mania LEGO Design Builds Its Path Towards Official Approval
Just as Sonic Mania itself is a fan labor of love made official, Toastergrl’s Sonic Mania LEGO design continues its trek towards becoming an officially licensed LEGO set. Today, 2020’s first period of LEGO Ideas crowd support ends, and Toastergrl’s design was among an unprecedented 26 designs to reach the 10,000 supporters needed for official consideration. LEGO Ideas will announce their final determinations this Fall.
The roughly 700-brick design features a classic take on the Lego Dimensions Sonic minifig facing off against brick-built Dr. Eggman with his Egg Robot mech and Hard Boiled Heavies, all complimenting several iconic Green Hill Zone level features.
The path for a LEGO Ideas design to become an official set is a long and difficult one, with only three to five approved each year. After achieving the required 10,000 supporters on ideas.lego.com, candidates must go through an internal review process to assess the feasibility and appropriateness of the project. Competition will be especially tight this year, as the number of successfully supported candidates is more than double compared to previous evaluation periods. Other licensed and unlicensed projects being considered include a 17th century-styled train station, the Gemini spacecraft, a micro-scale recreation of 4th century Rome, a 15 inch (39 cm) tall functional globe, the garden from Untitled Goose Game, a detailed model of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, an articulated model of The Iron Giant, and the Planet Express office and ship from Futurama.Details and additional renders of the design can be found on its LEGO Ideas page, and in TSS’s March 2019 interview with Toastergrl. With some luck, hope, and enthusiasm, perhaps we shall see Sonic Mania alongside other brilliant fan developed LEGO creations in 2021.

Sonic 3 Returning…as a Tiger LCD Game
This article was guest-written by Sonic Talk co-host Chris Xenn.
Grab those rose-colored glasses, because Tiger Electronics is back! Yes, the overly simple, occasionally surreal handhelds you got because the man at the store said this was just as good have returned by way of the Hasbro nostalgia-mining machine, and Sonic’s along for the ride.
As reported by The Verge, Fall 2020 will bring the release of reproduction Tiger Electronics games “inspired” by four actual game handhelds, including The Little Mermaid, Transformers: Generation 2, X-Men Project X, and of course, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, each for $14.99.
For those of you too young to remember what not owning a Game Boy was like, Tiger Electronics handhelds were LCD-screen video games (like a calculator or watch) where the entire display was made of black “sprites” that could be cycled on and off, but never overlap or move. Developers needed to be rather creative to turn such simple technology into engaging, fun, and animated games that replicate the experience of other 90’s consoles and handhelds.
Unfortunately, the actual legacy of Tiger Electronics handhelds is that they were repetitive, shrill novelties. Sonic 3 is certainly among the more complex examples, taking Sonic through six “stages” of dodging badnicks, searching for Chaos Emeralds, and battling the combined efforts of Robotnik and Knuckles. However, if your interest is piqued, treat this as a collector’s novelty and not an actual game worth your time or money. Pre-orders are currently only available at Gamestop.
