We now know when Super Sonic will be heading to Sonic Forces Mobile, and it looks like it’ll be a birthday gift for blue blur: the character will be hitting the mobile racer on June 23.
This new character will mostly have the same power ups as vanilla Sonic, ice mine and fireball. But in place of the speed shoes, Super Sonic will instead have “Super Sonic form,” which appears to suggest that the character won’t be Super Sonic all the time, just while this ability is active. What’s interesting about this ability, however, is that it seems you earn it by collecting rings, not through item boxes. The exact amount isn’t specified, though 50 rings is probably a safe assumption.
Like previous Sonic Forces characters, Super Sonic will need to be unlocked via character cards. Gold rings will also be earned through battle chests throughout the event.
The Super Sonic event will run from June 23 to July 5, so players will have plenty of time to unlock the racer. Once we’ve got him we’ll try to provide video, so stay tuned!

The Sonic Colors content just keeps on coming! Earlier today, SEGA released the new remix for Aquarium Park Act 1’s soundtrack. The remix was done by Tomoya Ohtani, who also worked on music for the original Sonic Colors. Check it out below:
Some new footage from Sonic Colors Ultimate also appears to reveal something else: new dialogue for Tails. Tails appears to talk at times throughout the game, such as at 0:49 into the below video. Take a look:

Today, Shacknews posted a video interview with Aaron Roseman, producer of Sonic Colors: Ultimate, revealing a bit about the porting process and revealing several small details that differentiate Ultimate from the original Wii release.
Roseman notes that the Tails Save system does replace the lives system in the game. You still collect Tails Saves in the same way you collect lives, but it places you in your last safe location rather than a the beginning of a stage or mid-stage checkpoint. Another slight aid is the addition of the “Hundred Ring,” a special item that gives the player 100 rings and invincibility.
The interview also highlights the character customization elements new to this version of the game. Through gameplay, players will be able to unlock options for shoes, gloves, effect trails when Sonic boosts, and auras that surround Sonic. “You can adjust the colors in a game called Sonic Colors,” the interviewer notes.
Other details in the interview:
The game is standard controller focused. It will not use motion controls.
Cutscene videos have been updated for HD and 4K resolutions.
The game does not use all the technical features of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, but Roseman states it runs very well on both consoles.
This game was primarily developed during Covid quarantine, with staff working from home.
Roseman has an impressive NES collection on the shelves behind him. I’m jealous.
Shacknews also secured a full stage playthrough of Tropical Resort Act 3:

Sonic Colours Ultimate’s announcement might be timely for Sonic’s 30th, but new information suggests that it was going to be even more timely – for the Wii game’s 10-year anniversary. Data pulled from the Epic Game Store listings reveals that the remaster was first submitted to the platform on June 30, 2020, which suggests an announcement was originally planned for this time.

We expected SEGA to show little more detail of Sonic Colours Ultimate remaster at E3 2021, after the company formally announced the game late last month. Turns out we were right, as today reps from the Sonic Pillar suggested that further news was to come over the coming week.

Unfortunately, Balan Wonderworld didn’t have the success that Square Enix hoped for. And unfortunately for Yuji Naka, the game’s director and the former head of Sonic Team, the result has been that he is no longer working at Square Enix.

The official Sonic 30th anniversary website has now launched, and it looks to be everyone’s one stop hub for all info regarding events, merchandise, and games coming out this year.
The website has a list of recent and impending events, including yesterday’s Sonic Central stream, the upcoming Sonic symphony on June 23, and something called a “Ring series,” which appears to be a series of videos focusing on both Sonic fans and creators. The Ring series doesn’t currently have a date.
The website also has sections devoted to Sonic Colors Ultimate, merchandise, his mobile games and game tie-ins, and a download gallery with a few wallpapers.

We’ve got some more info on Sonic Colors Ultimate, specifically on its developer, price, and a few other things.
It is being developed by Blind Squirrel Entertainment, a development studio more recently known for its work on BioShock: The Collection, Borderlands: Game of the Year Enhanced Edition, and Mass Effect Legendary Edition. So they have a lot of experience with this kind of project!
The game will also launch both physically and digital for $39.99. We already knew about the keychain for the physical version, but the digital version will come with its own bits of exclusive content: a Sonic “movie boost” that adds the electric sparks from the Sonic movie, and “exclusive player icons,” which are supposed to help you “stand out in a crowd,” though I’m not really sure what they actually are. Maybe those icons you could stick on your save files in the original?
There will also be a “Digital Deluxe Edition” for $44.99. This version includes “early access” which makes the game playable four days early, MORE exclusive player icons, an “ultimate cosmetic pack” which basically just gives Sonic silver or gold gloves, and an “ultimate music pack” that contains three exclusive original game remixes.
Finally, I’ve got some bad news for PC gamers who aren’t active users of the Epic Store: the PC version will be Epic Store exclusive, at least for the time being. Hopefully, it’ll hit other storefronts at a later date, but anyone who wants for PC on launch day will need to deal with the Epic storefront.

Finally. We’ve all waited nearly six months for a morsel of information on what SEGA may be planning to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th Anniversary. For a character best known for his lightning-fast speed, updates have been almost-controversially slow. But yesterday, SEGA revealed a special livestream taking place on May 27th focusing on Sonic announcements and news. So, what could they have lined up?

SECOND UPDATE: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (best known for the Yakuza/Judgment series) posted a cryptic reply. It’s unclear if this is them telling you to save money for upcoming games, suggesting there’s some sort of new Sonic arcade game, suggesting Sonic will have some sort of cameo in a future Yakuza/Judgment game, or that the studio itself will be involved in a Sonic game. Luckily we’ll know very soon:

Remember that retro SEGA-themed picross game announced last year? Well, we just got an update on it from its developer, Jupiter: it’s still alive! That may seem like an odd update to give, but Jupiter has been oddly silent about the project for sometime now, leading many to wonder if the project was dead.
Jupiter’s update didn’t contain any additional info, such as a release date or screenshots, but at least we know the project itself is still kicking! To reiterate what we already know: it will have puzzles from 59 Mega Drive/Genesis & Mark III/Master System games, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Alex Kidd, and Phantasy Star.
