While at Comic Con last week, I managed to grab a SDCC exclusive copy of Tangle and Whisper issue number one, The very first IDW spin-off mini series based on comic exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog characters. Written by Ian Flynn with art by Evan Stanley.

New off-screen camera footage of the special Sonic and Tails OK KO episode has surfaced, and it’s chock full of references to past games, some meta commentary and could give us the set-up for the plot of the episode.

Who doesn’t like the constant reminder that Sonic the Hedgehog owns so much of our free time and money? As if our shelves weren’t already stacked high with game cartridges, many companies go out of their way to create a huge array of irresistible merchandise that become objects of desire amongst large parts of the fanbase. Entities such as First 4 Figures have established themselves as one such company that goes the distance and create highly detailed statues of video game and anime characters, Sonic and friends included, in gravity-defying and dynamic poses true to their source material. But as the complexity, scale, and limited nature / scarcity of these pieces of merchandise increase, so does the cost…

ORIGINAL STORY: According to the date on the Official Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Twitter account, the scheduled release date has been further moved back to March 2020.
There has been no official confirmation of a change in release date, which was previously announced to be set for Valentine’s day (February the 14th), 2020.

Forgive the lateness of our podcast as we recorded this one a few weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean it’s not chock full of Sonic-ey goodness! In this episode we discuss Jason’s trip to E3, the fan revival of Sonic Runners, Sonic Revolution 2019, Funko Pop Sonic cereal, an unofficial Sonic book that uses fanmade images and much, much more. Tangle and Whisper fans rejoice! There is some official merch coming your way care of the Sega Shop website. Everyone’s new favorite femme fatales are getting their own, exclusive pins. For $14.95 (US Dollars) each, you can pick from the excitable and carefree Tangle or the introvert assassin, Whisper.
Despite saying SDCC (AKA San Diego Comic Con), these pins do not seem to be available at the convention as they are not listed at IDW’s merchandise booth. The pins are available for preorder now at shop.sega.com and are due to ship on July 30th.

The Sonic Forces Speed Battle ‘Rivals League’ event has finished, and there can only be one winner. Turns out, Team Sonic took the crown with 13,000 points over Team Rose’s 12,532. So close. But we think the real prizes we won in this tournament were the epic fan art pieces that the community created along the way. IDW gets ready for the summer with ever-encroaching dread!
The preview for Sonic the Hedgehog #18 has been released, and there’s a lot to pack into this continuation of the Zombot arc! Sonic’s already lost one friend to the Zombot invasion, and he’s rushing to save another. But with the Zombots already well spread in Cream’s village, will Sonic find himself down another very soon? Meanwhile, things aren’t going quite as planned for Eggman either as he’s losing control over his hoard. See how this starts going for him in “Victims”.
