Sonic Superstars looks absolutely gorgeous. We should know, we said it. But that’s on the most powerful hardware – if you’re wondering whether the game also looks great on the Nintendo Switch, we now know the answer is ‘yes’, kinda.
The first still images of Classic Sonic’s latest outing running on Nintendo’s hybrid gaming console have arrived, and you can take a gander for yourself below.
Now, it clearly doesn’t look as sharp as its PS5 or Xbox cousins, but that is often the case with Nintendo Switch versions of cross-platform games. But at least the colour, character and charm doesn’t seem to have been impacted.
As with most things of this nature, it’s best to wait until we can see the Switch version moving and in action. Sometimes these lower-IQ situations aren’t as noticeable while actually playing. In the meantime, what do you think?

It’s fair to say we’re super-excited about tonight’s reveal of Sonic Superstars – it’s already looking like a promising like a true return to form for the colourful and attitude-heavy series! SEGA has just released some official screenshots of the game in action, and we thought you’d might like to take a look for yourself.
As you can see, Sonic and the game world just look absolutely gorgeous, with eye-popping colours and vibrant environments throughout. Hopefully we’ll see some original takes on some classic gameplay tropes.
One of the big features about this particular game is the inclusion of up to four-player local co-op, which means that for the first time Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy can all go around kicking Dr. Eggman’s mechanical Badniks in unison! We’re hoping that this will open the door for some creative co-op play and routes only accessible by using certain characters’ moves.
It seems like, for all its Classic Sonic approach to gameplay, Sonic Superstars does pick up a few things from the more Modern Sonic titles. Such as this set-piece which sees Sonic being chased by a massive…. robot fish thing.
Amy Rose is playable for only the second time in the Sonic series (after her gameplay debut in the upcoming Sonic Origins Plus, of course). Here she is running around with her Piko Piko Hammer – possibly deadly for any robots standing in her way.
As reports have revealed, there are special abilities that can be unlocked using retrieved Chaos Emeralds in the game. This could be one of those powers in action.

A new stage for Sega’s upcoming racer Team Sonic Racing has been revealed today, Hidden Volcano!
Hidden Volcano is exactly what it sounds like, a track set inside a volcano with lava flooded tracks and other explosive effects, but to juxtapose this, there are also some slippery ice sections to keep you on your toes.
We’ve also been told to expect a new trailer and gameplay footage at the Sonic panel at this years SXSW.
It's on the way! Expect to see new gameplay and other TSR game features at SXSW, and from then until launch. We'll also be playing it on the livestreams after SXSW.

Bit of a breaking story this one which we’ll update with more details as we get it.
Twitter user しをさかな discovered a nice surprise when they bought the newest issue of Famitsu in Japan a few moments ago. Originally they purchased the magazine for an article on Kingdom Hearts 3, but upon reading it discovered a two page spread on Team Sonic Racing which contains a lot of new information. A new PR of Mario & Sonic at the Rio Olympic Games on Wii U has been released by Nintendo of Europe. The entire PR itself is linked below, but to summarize, the Wii U version features 17 events, features over 30 playable characters, the ability to play as your Mii (same as on 3DS), four-player multiplayer action (common for the series of course), and new Duel Events which “give familiar sports a classic Mario & Sonic twist”. In case you missed it, Sonic Runners launched a little while ago in both Japan and Canada. Thanks to members of our own SSMB, many of us outside these regions have been able to get our hands on the game… including TSS Staff! As such, here’s a gallery of screenshots directly from the game itself, running on an iOS device.
If you’re wondering where Sonic Runners’ release is for the US and Europe regions, SEGA have stated that the game will be soft launched to work out bugs and see the game’s performance. Following this, a decision will be made if the game will be launched in these regions.
Sonic Runners is a new mobile game developed by the Sonic Team in Japan. We are soft-launching it in select countries to see how the game does and to work out any bugs. No decision has been made yet whether it will be released in the US or Europe. It will depend on our observations during the soft-launch phase which could take several months.
Though it may take a while to reach us officially, you can view plenty of gameplay and media online while you wait, including our gallery you can catch below which we’ll keep updating. And don’t worry about the game’s quality itself – first impressions have been pretty positive from us here, and other users of the game so far.
Prepare to see this a lot.
Daily Challenges are at least more easily completed in the worldwide release.
Sonic can’t fly, but he can jump three times. Which is almost as good.

Hot off the new gameplay footage, written previews and the E3 Press Release, SEGA have unveiled a plentiful of new screenshots from both Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for Wii U and 3DS. The screenshots show our main cast doing an assortment of actions in their game worlds, from boomerangs to Enerbeams. You can check all these screenshots out in our gallery below. Be sure to let us know what you’re most excited for in Sonic Boom in the comments below – they’ll be plenty more where this came from for sure when E3 rolls around next week.

Now that we know Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is finally coming out in November, hot on the heels of Sonic Lost World, we have a brand new set of screenshots to get us all excited. These screens show off quite a few new features of the game, including the return of Miis and some of the Dream Events.
Starting with the screenshot above, we can see that you can once again play as your Mii character and dress them up in whatever way you so choose – there’s regular outfits, hats, and full-blown character costumes to pick from. In terms of character costumes we can see that the game will include costumes of Vector, Birdo, Diddy Kong, Bee Mario, Propeller Mario, and Penguin Mario, and those are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg as this is only one page of 10 being shown. You’ll also be able to get a spooky pumpkin hat to scare your opponents. Will it cause the Pumpkin Hill music to play when you wear it though? That is the real question we all want answered, I’m sure!
This next screenshot shows off one of the new Dream Events in which characters play in teams of two, running around an area and shooting each other with snow. It sounds like a rather interesting concept, and at the very least it shows off some of the new graphical effects that the move to Wii U is bringing to the series.
And finally for now, we have this screenshot…
Oh god, I can imagine the fan-fiction already!
You can see all of the new screenshots in the gallery below. Thanks to SSMB member YoshiUnity for pointing them out in the forums!

The European version of yesterday’s new trailer has been released and at the end it reveals a special edition of Sonic Lost World for Wii U called the Sonic Lost World Deadly Six Edition. This version of the game includes DLC that adds NiGHTS into Dreams boss battles with The Deadly Six for those that pre-order the game. We’ve not found any retailers listing this edition of the game yet, but if you find it, please give us links in the comments or send them to news@sonicstadium.org.
SEGA has also released twenty eight new screenshots of the Wii U version of the game showcasing the Miiverse hub and a new Black Wisp that seemingly turns Sonic into a bomb. We also get to see more of the various levels currently revealed, like Frozen Factory and Desert Ruins. The file names for the screenshots reveal the water level’s name to be Tropical Coast. You can check out all of the screenshots below in our gallery.

Via Japanese magazine Famitsu, we have lots of new screenshots of the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Lost World. In this latest batch we see the Red Burst Wisp returns and we also are introduced to two new Wisp powers Grey Quake and Ivory Lightning. The Grey Quake Wisp sees Sonic transform into an iron ball which you move around with the gyro sensor of the 3DS. According to a rough Google translation, you can infinitely climb walls in this state and dive off of them to destroy enemies with the shock on landing, thus the name Grey Quake.
The Ivory Lightning Wisp gives Sonic the power to quickly ram enemies and obstacles in succession. A rough Google translation says Sonic will also be able to pass through wires in this state.
The Red Burst Wisp gives Sonic the same powers as in Sonic Colours for Nintendo DS. In this form, Sonic can fly/hop around in the air and charge blasts of energy to destroy surrounding enemies.

Earlier today we were given a selection of new screenshots for Sonic Lost World which showed off a Casino Night themed level. Well, the person who posted the images has been at it again, 19 new screenshots from the Wii U version of the game, showcasing some of the levels shown in yesterdays trailer as well as some of the new Wisp powers.
The screens show lots of new enemies and dangers for Sonic as well as a potential ‘stealth’ section in which Sonic has to navigate a zone without being spotted by giant owls.

It would appear from these screenshots that a Casino Night inspired Zone is going to be in Sonic Lost World. The screens were posted by SSMB member Gatestormer on The Sonic Stadium Message Board a short while ago and appear to show a new unannounced zone for Sonic Lost World. No name has been given yet, however long term fans will instantly recognise what it looks like. The Zone appears to borrow heavilly from the Sonic 2 stage Casino Night, with the pinball section and even Casino Night badniks.

Sonic Adventure 2 has returned to Xbox.com after a long time away following its initial leak on the website back in June. Ten screenshots were posted back then with one of them of Sonic and Shadow racing showing a PlayStation circle button, but this time that screenshot has humorously been replaced with one of both characters jumping so as to not show the brakes option. The Chao Karate screenshot has also been replaced with one of Sonic in the Chao Kindergarten. You can view both new screenshots in our gallery below.

Some new screenshots and details have been released online regarding SEGA’s upcoming racer Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The US official PlayStation website has put up product pages for both the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game which reveal that the Sony handheld version will support motion steering and will make use of the touchscreen for firing weapons and activating your character’s All-Star move. DLC support is also revealed. The PS3 page confirms the game will not feature 3D TV support.
The official Xbox website has also put out a product page for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and within are 12 screenshots and the confirmation that Xbox Live Avatars are returning. DLC support is also revealed for the Xbox 360, and the overview states that the game will support up to ten players online, while the online features section oddly lists 8 players. The PlayStation pages also state 8 players for both PS3 and PS Vita. We’ll try to get this cleared up with Sumo Digital and update.
