See Sonic Racing and Chu Chu Rocket! Universe in Action Here!

So, with Apple Arcade launching today, we’re finally getting our first in-depth looks at both Sonic Racing and Chu Chu Rocket! Universe. With no official footage being released, we decided to record our own footage of these games.

It should be noted that both of these games are being recorded off of an iPhone 7, which could only achieve medium graphical quality for either game. This footage is not representative of how the games will look on more advanced hardware.

For Sonic Racing, I recorded the tutorial and a few races in the default vertical orientation, before later recording some footage horizontally. Check them out below:

I actually found it more difficult to play this game with the landscape orientation. Here’s hoping the Apple TV version has controller support:

For Chu Chu Rocket! Universe, I recorded the opening minutes of the game, including some bits of story mode, then recorded another puzzle separately to show off how arrows are selected (and because it was the first puzzle I had some trouble with).

You’ll find those recordings below:

Be sure to stick around for more news on these and other games!

Sonic Racing & Chu Chu Rocket! Universe Launch Today as Part of Apple Arcade (UPDATED)

Two Sonic Team franchises have launched new entries today as part of Apple Arcade’s launch line-up. Sonic Racing brings a version of Sumo Digital’s Team Sonic Racing to Apple’s platforms, letting players race as a variety of Sonic characters in a team-based racer. Chu Chu Rocket! Universe brings back the classic puzzle action of the Dreamcast original, where the player has to direct mice through a course to their rocket ship, without letting the cats eat them. Both games were made by SEGA HARDlight, the same developers behind the Sonic Dash games.

Apple Arcade is a subscription-based game service for Apple platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Macintosh. For $5 a month, you gain access to every game on the service, without needing to deal with ads, in-app purchases, or other kinds of micro transactions. Every game on the service is exclusive to it, so it’s unlikely these games will be appearing on other platforms (or at least mobile platforms) any time soon.

If you want to try the games now, you can take advantage of a 30-day free trial after downloading iOS 13 for iPhone. Unfortunately, only iPhone users can currently access Apple Arcade, as the updates for Apple’s other platforms are arriving until September 30.

UPDATE: We have been able to confirm that both games boast controller support, including support for PS4 and Xbox One controllers. To sync a PS4 controller, hold the share and home buttons to put it into pairing mode. For Xbox One, hold the sync button. Afterwards, each controller can be linked to your iPhone from the phone’s Bluetooth menu.

SEGA has also released a trailer showing off both games, which you can check out below:

SEGA Hardlight-Developed ‘Sonic Racing’ Announced for Apple Arcade

Sonic Motocross iPhone Game Proposal Discovered

Sonic Motocross 2XL Games

The Sonic Stadium has today discovered a proposed Sonic game for iPhone on the resume and portfolio of illustrator Eric D Simmons. The game was being developed by 2XL Games and judging by the above artwork it was to be a motocross type of game set in familiar Sonic stages. A quick look on 2XL Games’ website shows that genre to be their speciality on mobile devices. No reason is given for this game not seeing release, but if we had to guess, it’s likely due to clashing with the mobile release of vehicle racer Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing and/or its sequel.

Would you have liked a motocross Sonic game or are you glad it was never released? Let us know in the comments.

Sonic Jump Fever leaping onto iOS and Android soon

Looks like Sonic Boom won’t be the only game starring everyone’s favourite blue blur at E3 this year! Just revealed via an announcement trailer on SEGA Europe’s YouTube channel, Sonic Jump Fever – a sequel to the original Sonic Jump mobile game – will be bouncing its way onto iOS and Android devices at some point in the near future.

Originally released in Canada earlier this year, the core gameplay in Sonic Jump Fever will be very similar to its predecessor, only this time with more dynamic action, more combos… and of course, more fever! The question is though – will it be a real leap forward? (sorry, I’ll get my coat…)

Little else is known about the game’s release outside Canada beyond that shown off in the trailer, but be sure to stay tuned to TSS for any further updates on the game – and in the meantime, let us know your thoughts on this announcement in the comments!

Sonic Dash S races onto Japanese iOS and Android

screen568x568Talk about a bolt from the blue! Completely out of nowhere, a brand new version of Sonic Dash, curiously titled Sonic Dash S, has hit iOS and Android devices in Japan. While it doesn’t appear to differ too heavily from the current edition of the game available elsewhere across the globe, this iteration does bring with it some new features and refinements.

2qwo1tj

First up, Sonic Dash S actually seems to have some sort of plot to it. No longer is Sonic just aimlessly running for the sake of running – now he’s on a high speed chase to stop Dr. Eggman, who has once again made off with the elusive Master Emerald (Knuckles just can’t catch a break, can he?). Sonic Dash S also sees the return of the Chao who, in a similar fashion to their appearance in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, provide Sonic and his friends with special abilities to boost their skills. That’s not the only thing bumping up the blue blur’s stats in this version either – you can upgrade the characters themselves by acquiring bonuses and levelling up. Essentially, it sounds like the same Sonic Dash experience, but padded out with a few additional elements to spice things up.

SSMB member SwiftWinds also notes that characters have their own special abilities when they reach a certain level – for instance, Tails can fly out of a pit, Knuckles can overcome bombs and spikes, Amy increases your banked ring count, and Shadow increases the rings you earn at the end of a run. Additionally, characters can be unlocked using normal rings in Sonic Dash S rather than the red rings that are otherwise required in the standard version of Sonic Dash.

There is no word yet on whether Sonic Dash S will hit any other regions, be it as a brand new download or as an update to the existing game – but stay tuned to TSS and we’ll keep you in the loop! Thanks to SSMB member Woun for bringing it to our attention in the first place.

Sonic Dash Gameplay Trailer, Screenshots Emerge

TouchGameplay has just uploaded footage of Hardlight Studio’s recent efforts, Sonic Dash, set to release on iOS devices tomorrow!

SEGA’s newest mobile game, inspired by endless runner titles such as Temple Run, pits Sonic and his friends against an infinite obstacle course where you jump, avoid, spin, and dash through enemies and objects.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucbhL3kubVQ

This is exactly the kind of game I expect to become addicting really, really quickly. The graphics, the music, and the fitting nature of the game… it’s gorgeous!

Screenshots have also been uploaded on Sonic Dash‘s New Zealand iTunes page, which you can observe after the jump! Eh? Eh? See what I… okay.

Special thanks to Seraphinprincess for the tip!

Sega Officially Announces Sonic Dash for iOS

Sega has officially announced Sonic Dash for all iOS devices and is coming “soon”. Hardlight Studios, the team behind Sonic Jump, is once again at the helm of this Sonic game (so expect micro transactions.) Not many details have been mentioned so far, but it sounds very much like a 3D infinite runner not unlike Temple Run and it’s expected to include leaderboards as well. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Coming to iOS in 2013

Pocket Gamer has revealed that Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is coming to iPhone and iPad, however, Sumo Digital’s Gareth Williams says it won’t arrive until “after Christmas”, likely meaning a 2013 release. Pricing is still up in the air, with the developer in discussions on whether to charge a small amount or even give the game away free and let people buy the characters they want.

“Do we sell it for two or three dollars, and have a few little in-app purchases?” Williams says. “But maybe we should give it away for free and allow people to buy characters.”

[UPDATE: IGN 8/10] First Batch of Sonic 4 Reviews

UPDATE: IGN has posted up their review of the Xbox 360 version, in written and video form (see above). They give the game an 8/10. /UPDATE END

The first batch of reviews are in for the iPhone and PS3 versions of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 and they’re all pretty positive. We’ll focus on two of the reviews here and provide links to others at the bottom of this article.

AppTilt’s Dan Lee gave the iPhone version a 9/10, claiming SEGA has done well in bringing Sonic back to his roots, while still keeping him fresh.

Every level is bright, colourful, detailed and screams ‘Sonic’ at the top of its lungs. SEGA has done a fantastic job of bringing Sonic back to his roots, but also making him feel fresh and modern.

Lee says the game meets the classic Sonic level design of multiple routes, which encourage the various play styles of those who like to speed through a zone and those who like to be more adventurous and explore.

The good news is that the level design is classic Sonic. Each act has multiple routes depending on your play style – so those who enjoy the speed can simply put the hammer down and blast through, whilst the more adventurous can slow things down and eek out every ring there is on offer; just be wary of the ten minute level time limit!

The only complaint Lee had was with the controls. Lee didn’t find the touch or tilt controls to be as accurate as buttons and an analogue stick.

So now for the bad news – the iPod controls aren’t as slick as they could be, and occasionally ruin parts of a level. There are two ways to play the game – ‘Touch controls’ or ‘Tilt controls’. Touch gives you a faux analogue stick in the left hand corner, which controls movement, whilst a circle in the right corner simulates a jump button. This button is far too small and in the full flow of a level it’s very easy to miss – which usually results in death. Both the move and the jump buttons sometimes fail to register as well, which is beyond frustrating.

Tilt controls enables you to move left and right by tilting the iPod in that direction. Jumping is taken care of my tapping any part of the screen. I quite enjoyed the Tilt control as it removed the small jump button – however it lacked the precision of the analogue stick. Neither of these controls schemes are awful; they could have just done with a bit more tweaking. In terms of longevity Sonic 4 is as deep as you want it to be.

Lee finished up by highly recommending the game:

So there we have it – overall Sonics return is a rousing success. The occasional unresponsive controls are not enough to put a dampener on some top notch level design and good old fashioned fun. Highly recommended.

Full review here

GamesRadar’s Justin Towell reviewed the PS3 version of the game and also gave it a 9/10, stating that like most fans, he noticed the physics differences in early footage and had doubts the game would live up to its name, but after playing the full game he says that it surprisingly does live up to the title Sonic 4.

The physics are different, the art design is different… perhaps it was just too different to be worthy of the name ‘Sonic 4’. How could anything possibly live up to that name? To my utmost surprise, it does.

Towell also wasn’t overly bothered by another factor often complained about in the game, the homing attack.

You get the lock-on attack from Sonic Adventure, which threatens to change the game too much, but is actually used sparingly and works well almost all of the time. There are a couple of occasions where you want to use the air dash to power over a spiked enemy’s head, but the game thinks you want to attack it, resulting in a cascade of lost rings.

Towell explains there are new speed tactics not found in the previous Mega Drive classics that he enjoyed playing with and improve Sonic’s speed without having to wait for the next steep hill to come along.

Going back to Sonic 1 after spending hours with its new sibling feels very strange. Sonic 4 handles very differently. It’s more… bold. Clinical, even. Every movement seems more deliberate, and while the finer nuances of low-speed control have arguably been lost, it’s at high speed that it reveals its true depths.
I mentioned that lock on attack can be used as a simple air boost. When running at speed, this has a noticeable acceleration effect, allowing you to reach speeds on open stretches that old Sonic simply wouldn’t be able to do without a hill to help him. Jumps on hills still react as you’d expect, and landing a jump on a decline results in a welcome burst of speed, just like those loop-jumps of Sonic 2.

Towell then goes into the games replayability through various modes like Time Attack and brings good news that Super Sonic’s times will be ranked separately to Sonic’s.

So how much game is there for Sonic experts? I was able to beat the entire game, collected all the emeralds and beat the secret zone in one evening. After that, there are separate score and time attack modes to try for every stage, complete with online leaderboards. These are split into all/friends categories, and scores attained with Super Sonic are categorised separately from regular Sonic.
Add in the countless hidden routes through levels and it’s clear there’s a truck-load of replayability. Finding the fastest routes and mastering them is going to take weeks, maybe months. Maybe years.

Towell finishes up the review with the following positive thoughts and verdict:

A friend on Facebook asked me to sum up the game in one word. It’s a tough thing to do. I wouldn’t say ‘magnificent’ – it’s still a little too unambitious for that. I certainly wouldn’t say ‘disappointing’, because Sonic Team and DIMPS have done the impossible and managed to make this most critical of Sonic fans love a new Sonic game.
So I’m going to plump for ‘deserving’. And I mean that in two ways. It’s deserving of your time and your money despite its length. But more importantly, it’s deserving of the name ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 4’. That was always going to be this game’s biggest challenge, but it’s succeeded with aplomb.

9/10
You’ll love
+ The purest Sonic game for ten years
+ Works on so many gameplay levels, like its predecessors
+ So much game to master, despite its diminutive size
+ You’ll hate
– Can be ‘completed’ in one evening
– Physics are different, not necessarily worse
– Visuals could have been even better

SEGA Releases Sonic 4 iPhone Trailer

SEGA has released a trailer for the iPhone/iPod Touch version of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. The trailer has been posted exclusively at Yahoo Games’ Appolicious website and shows gameplay footage from Splash Hill Zone, Casino Street Zone and Mad Gear Zone. We get to officially hear music from Casino Street Zone and Mad Gear Zone for the first time in this trailer, too. Appolicious confirms that this version of the game will include online leaderboards, just like the console versions. Still no price confirmd for the U.S. and Europe, unfortunately. We’ll let you know when SEGA reveals details.

IGN: Sonic 4 iPhone’s Minecart “more fun than the universal stages”

Well, here’s something that will give you a shock. In a preview of the latest build of the iPhone version of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, IGN’s Levi Buchanan has stated that the controversial minecart Act in Lost Labyrinth Zone (that has been removed from console editions), “was actually more fun than the universal stages I tried.”

The reasoning behind Buchanan’s statement is that he feels Sonic runs too fast and he can’t progress through a stage without fear of falling or hitting spikes and losing all of his hard-earned rings.

Here’s why: Sonic has a tendency to get away from himself. Granted, that’s by design. Sonic is all about speed and you’re supposed to get going as fast as you can, blasting through stages with the constant fear that one false move will send your 112 rings into the gutter. But that doesn’t necessarily appeal to me anymore. In fact, I’m sure I groaned aloud many times at SEGA’s office when I was cruising toward the finish line only to fail a small jump and drop onto some spikes. My rings scattered and any hopes of enjoying a bonus stage (more on those in a moment) were dashed against the rocks.

Buchanan goes on to say that the minecart stage has less chance of death, so you can relax and enjoy the ride(pun intended).

But the mine cart stages are more measured than that. There is a sense of exploration as you tilt Sonic through the maze in his cart, looking for bumpers to blast you across chasms or finding the switch to open a sealed door. Death is not as ever-present here, which lets you relax and appreciate a few things. One, the tilt controls in the mine cart stages are well done. I felt like I had complete control over Sonic’s plight. Two, the art work in here is really nice.

As for the Sonic 1 inspired Special Stages, Buchanan finds the new control method of tilting the maze to move Sonic much better than manoeuvring Sonic himself in the Mega Drive/Genesis iteration.

So, bonus stages – they’re back in Sonic 4. Remember the spinning labyrinths you had to guide Sonic through to capture the chaos emeralds? The bonus rounds in Sonic 4 are very similar, but now you tilt the device to rotate the maze rather than control Sonic. This is a big improvement and cuts down on frustration. Easing Sonic through the maze toward the chaos emerald is still tricky (there’s a time limit and plenty of opportunities to drop out of the stage), but at least you feel in control rather than swimming upstream through an auto-rotating screen.

What do you think of these statements? Discuss in the comments.

After bringing us some video helpings of Sonic Colours and Sonic Free Riders, Destructoid give us some footage of the Xbox Live Arcade version Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. Shown in the footage is the Splash Hill Zone which SEGA informed before the event kicked off is the only level available in the E3 demo and in it we can see some of the few tweaks that have been added already such as momentum, speed and jump fixes. SEGA stated before the event kicked off that many more changes are to be made during development before release Late 2010.

On top of that, another media outlet Touch Arcade give us a look at the iPhone version which judging by the footage is looking as good and playing as well as the console version so portable gamers can’t go wrong with this version.

We’ll keep a look out for Sonic 4 media and post back here, for now debate away in the comments. Thanks to mickbyte for the heads up!

Sonic 2 Speeding Onto iPhone Next Week, Preview Inside [Update: No Tails?!]

Apple App review site Appolicious is reporting that Sonic 2 will be hitting the app store sometime next week for $5.99.  They have a preview up on their website, discussing the games features, or lack thereof in a few cases.

What’s missing from the port of Sonic 2 that was in Sonic 1?  Well, the fullscreen option, as the preview only says that a windowed version is available:

The first thing you’ll notice is how strikingly similar Sonic 2 is to the original game; while the first iPhone game had two view options, a full-screen mode and a slightly smaller screen (which also offered sharper graphics), this version only has the smaller view.

While that’s a bit of a downgrade (some people don’t care for stretched graphics), the controls are apparently more responsive than the port of Sonic 1:

While the first game was quite successful and for the most part critically acclaimed, there was a common complaint about the buttons not being responsive enough. This doesn’t seem to be an issue with Sonic 2, though, as the game plays remarkably close to the original (though I do acknowledge it’s been a few years).

The reviewer also said that it was hard to preview the game due to the nostalgia washing over him.  Color me surprised that he hasn’t had the opportunity to play Sonic 2 on the millions of other devices that it has been ported to.  I hear it’s going to be on SkyNet in 2020 before it takes over the world.  At least it will be fun for a little bit.

Ports of the Genesis games have been widely reported to have instances of lag.  Will this port fix that issue?  With the track record of quick and easy SEGA ports, I doubt it.  Yet, it will sell thousands.

UPDATE: PocketGamer is reporting that Tails is axed from this release.  We all figured that 2-player mode wouldn’t make it due to the nature of the iPhone, but to have Tails not even be an option is puzzling, especially with the two-tailed fox on the cover.  PocketGamer has contacted SEGA for comment.

And I agree, commenters.  It’s nice to have something to talk about this week.  It has been a slow-go for Sonic anything the past two weeks.

Sonic 4: SEGA Starts Screwing Around With the “4th Platform”

We told you the day of the Sonic 4 site launch that snooping around revealed the fourth console that the game would be coming to.  While the iPhone was the original find, another image has been found thanks to Sonic Retro member Compsense.  Here was the original image, coupled with the iPhone image:

Here’s the new image that was found:

What is the “N2?” The N2 is an NVIDIA developed arcade platform running on the GeForce graphics card.  Since it’s PC based, N2 games are easily ported to PC.  Only three games in existence have used the N2 platform.

Is Sonic 4 really coming to the N2 or is SEGA screwing with the community for snooping around?  Is the iPhone still the fourth platform?  I don’t even know anymore.  My guess is that this “N2” jive is fake.  I mean, wouldn’t they put a picture in the square for the “reveal” image?  Why is it still locked?

EXCLUSIVE: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Coming to iPhone, All Versions Out July 2010

SEGA HAS LEAKED AGAIN!

We have found an image within the Sonic 4 website.  The “mystery console” that’s locked out at the bottom of the game’s website will be the iPhone.  “Episode 1,” which had a vague “summer 2010” release, will be out in July.

Here’s the image on the Sonic 4 site.

Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Now Available for iPod Touch/iPhone

Just like his mobile outing of the summer Olympiad, SEGA has released a mobile version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, sans Mario, to the iPhone and iPod Touch.  The game features 10 characters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Eggman, Vector, Blaze, Metal Sonic and Silver) and 4 events in the game  (snowboard cross, curling, skeleton and figure skating)

The game has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled multiplayer, but you can also hand your iPhone/iPod Touch off to your friends in “pass and play” mode.

The game is available at the iTunes store for $4.99.  A gameplay video is provided below:

Official SEGA Genesis Emulator Coming to iPhone

In a surprise turn of a events, SEGA is re-releasing the Genesis games on another platform.  The iPhone isn’t foreign to SEGA, but it’s a little bit different this time around.  In a stroke of genius (yes, I said “genius”), SEGA will be releasing an official emulator for the iPhone with its own store, allowing you to purchase ROMs.  With the iPhone App Store becoming obnoxiously bigger every day, SEGA’s plan to break free and sell their games within its own store is a smart idea.  The emulator will come packaged with Space Harrier II and with the ability to purchase four additional titles:

• Sonic the Hedgehog: $5.99
• Golden Axe: $4.99
• Ecco the Dolphin: $2.99
• Shining Force: $2.99

Will you pay $6 for the original Sonic (again)?  Will the emulator recognize the Sonic app that was released last year?  Will lag be present in these emulations?  All these questions and more should be answered when the app releases later this year.

Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Curling to iPhone

Our friends at TouchArcade give us the skinny on the recently announced mobile title “Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.”  Much like the last mobile olympic outing, Sonic and Co. will be going it alone without the characters from the Mario universe.  TouchArcade has provided an HD video of two of the four events, curling and snowboarding cross.  Hit the jump to check it out.

SEGA Wants iPhone Games, Taxman Ports Sonic CD!

The Taxman, like Stealth, is very good at dropping bombs. I have watched Taxman for days as he held back this news from the Sonic community. Now that he has revealed it on Sonic Fan Games HQ, it’s time for everybody to know and shit a brick.

Taxman has been working hard the past few months to port Sonic CD to the iPhone using his famous “Retro-Engine Software Development Kit,” formerly known as the “Retro-Sonic Engine.” The engine is famously used in the Sonic Nexus and Retro-Sonic XG projects. The project uses none of the game’s original programming and is built from the ground up in Taxman’s “RSDK.” It only took him a few weeks to port Palmtree Panic and all of its time periods to the iPhone. Also, the game runs at a perfect frame rate.

Recently, Taxman sent an e-mail to SEGA Europe about his iPhone port. He has yet to receive return contact from them. On Monday, July 27th, SEGA of America’s blog asked the fans which classic SEGA game that they’d like to see ported to the iPhone/iPod Touch. With that announcement, Taxman decided to reveal to all of you his amazing project and he wants you to answer one question:

The question is, do YOU want it? Let SEGA know. This is more than just one of their crappy emulator ports, we’re talking iPhone exclusive enhancements and features (I’ve got some cool plans)

You heard the man!  Get to that blog post and tell them what you want!

Please, get SEGA to pick up this port of Sonic CD. It’s flawless. Given the history of SEGA’s iPhone ports, with the Streets of Rage one being exceptionally horrible, we need an amazing game like this one to hit our mobile devices.

Simon Jeffery Leaves SEGA of America [UPDATE]

An expert at putting his foot in his mouth and insulting his company’s biggest fanbase, SEGA of America President and Co-Owner, Simon Jeffery, has packed his bags at SEGA.  Jeffery will become an executive at iPhone developer and publisher “ngmoco,” a company founded last year by a former EA executive, Neil Young.

Jeffery has made it well known that he loves the iPhone.  While the move might seem idiotic on the surface for a president of SEGA to move into another role at a smaller company, the move is likely a simple pursuit of interests.  Whatever might have sparked Jeffery’s departure from SEGA, I know that some people are having a party regardless.

Jeffery will lead ngmoco’s Plus+ (redundant, much?) publishing group, “which integrates social networking and cross-promotional options into games.”

Sonic 1 Now iPhoneised

iphone-sonictitle

SEGA very quietly slipped in a port of the original Mega Drive Sonic the Hedgehog onto the Apple iTunes store yesterday, with the iPhone platform now being the latest in a long line of formats that can play the classic game.

An official blog today confirms the existence of the title, which you can now pick up for your iPhone for $4.99 $5.99, or £3.49 to the British fans out there. Control is made using touch screen ‘buttons’ that appear on the bottom of the playing screen – the D-Pad is located at the bottom left and the only button (A) on the bottom right. Two screen modes allow you to play the action full-screen with semi-transparent buttons, or in a smaller window with a visible START button.

iphone-sonic1-2 iphone-sonic1-1

The graphics appear to be intact, and the blog mentions how faithful and fun to play it is (but of course, they would say that really). Have you bought it already and played it? What do you think of it? Does another Sonic 1 port tickle your fancy or is it starting to wind you up? Let us know in the comments box!

UPDATE: According to our American friends, the price on the iTunes store looks to be $5.99 instead of the $4.99 SEGA’s blog announced. That would bring the £-$ difference a little closer (£3.49 equates to about $5.55 as of this moment), but it’s curious why the wrong price was mentioned. Most likely just a mistake on the community blog’s part.

Sonic 1 On Its Way to the iPhone

SEGA has ported its flagship Genesis title to everything that makes a mechanical whirring sound.  The game is on cellular phones, home consoles on compilation discs and as a download, and it’s even on my grandfather’s pacemaker.  It’s only appropriate that they port to one of the most popular pieces of technology available, Apple’s iPhone.  I think the original Sonic has had more ports than any other game out there, so I bet SEGA will be finished porting it after releasing it for the iPhone.  Right, Simon Jeffery?

“We are absolutely delighted to work with Apple to bring Sega’s timeless classic, Sonic The Hedgehog, to the iPhone.  The great reception and success of Super Monkey Ball has demonstrated that the iPhone is a viable gaming console with immense potential. iPhone gamers can expect great products from Sega and what better way to start the New Year than with Sonic The Hedgehog on the iPhone.”

Never mind, then. I can’t wait for “Sonic the  Hedgehog” for the iPhone 2.

The game will support portrait and landscape views, touchscreen controls, and a save/resume feature.  It will be out as an app for the iPhone this spring.
