Nintendo just uploaded a surprise video detailing the anticipated 3.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Among other things discussed was the reveal of the returning Mii Fighter costumes for Tails and Knuckles.
These costumes debuted in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. In Ultimate, these can be purchased on the eShop for 75 cents USD each. Note that these do NOT come with the Fighters Pass and must be purchased separately.
The 3.0 update and all its contents, including the Mii Fighter costumes, will release tomorrow on April 17th.

Alongside the release of “MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE”, the 130-track soundtrack to the soon-to-be-released Team Sonic Racing, comes Sonic Sound Team Director Jun Senoue‘s third installment of “The Works” compilation album series.

Sega just released the HQ assets, including transparent PNG logos, HD versions of the two primary Switch screenshots, as well as the HQ version of the trailer with less compression. I made new screencaps from the HQ version of the trailer.

Sega have just announced the western release of the games. The Mario & Sonic game for Switch is now called Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The arcade game of course is titled Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – Arcade Edition. Finally, the mobile game is titled Sonic at the Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020.
For some reason, the Tokyo 2020 branding is missing from the logos, but the games are titled as such on the website as well as by Sega in their announcement tweet. All seem to still be published by Sega in the west (a first since London 2012), in fact Sega are publishing the games worldwide, which is a first in Japan where Nintendo published the Mario & Sonic series to date prior. Also, the arcade and mobile games are now dated for Summer 2020 in the west, rather than just the generic 2020 date in Japan. Check out the western website here.

At the SEGA FES 2019 event it was announced that the Mario & Sonic series will return with Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for Switch. Not only that, a separate arcade game, simply titled Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Arcade Game, was additionally revealed, alongside a Sonic-only mobile game for both iOS and Andriod; Sonic at the Olympic Games.
SEGA previously announced back in October 2016, that they had secured the gaming license for the Tokyo 2020 games, but no confirmation was made that the Mario & Sonic series would be returning alongside Sega’s other more photorealistic Olympic video games to tie in with the event.
The title will be the 6th Olympic game title to feature Mario and Sonic following the Olympic game and Winter Olympic game titles.
Via the official Olympic Video Games website, the Switch game is due to release in Japan in Winter 2019. The arcade game is due sometime in 2020. Finally the mobile game is also due in 2020.

SEGA revealed a new, ghost-themed race track for Team Sonic Racing today: Haunted Castle. As with most of TSR’s track reveals, this new course was shown alongside its soundtrack, which was composed by Tee Lopes, performed by S.A.M.E., and features Tei Sena on violin (which is easily the highlight).
Despite its name, the race track itself appears to be based on a distorted version of Rooftop Run, with the clocktower in the image bearing a striking (though not exact) resemblance to the clock tower from that level. Check out the image and music below:
Team Sonic Racing will launch on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 21st. With only 13 of the game’s 21 tracks known, we can probably expect the rate of new track reveals to accelerate as the game’s release approaches. Be sure to stay tuned to Sonic Stadium for that and more!

Tech giant Apple unveiled its subscription-based gaming service last night, titled ‘Apple Arcade’, and surprisingly SEGA has already been confirmed as a key partner in the upcoming platform, with a ‘Sonic Racing’ game being prepped for release later this year. IDW will be reprinting their comic book tie-in for Team Sonic Racing this May, complete with new content, to coincide with the release of the game. The reprint even has a special name, “Team Sonic Racing Plus Deluxe Turbo Championship Edition.” The new content will include a guide to the Wisp power-ups, a glossary Of Team Moves, a gallery of in-game tracks, and commentary from the tie-in’s writer, Caleb Goellner.
The original print run of the one-shot was originally slated to release alongside the game last fall, before the game was delayed. For whatever reason, the comic wasn’t also delayed, giving it the dubious distinction of being the first Sonic game tie-in comic to beat the release of its game by six months.
It’s currently unknown if the reprint will have a new cover. You can check out the original cover below!

A new stage for Sega’s upcoming racer Team Sonic Racing has been revealed today, Hidden Volcano!
Hidden Volcano is exactly what it sounds like, a track set inside a volcano with lava flooded tracks and other explosive effects, but to juxtapose this, there are also some slippery ice sections to keep you on your toes.
We’ve also been told to expect a new trailer and gameplay footage at the Sonic panel at this years SXSW.
It's on the way! Expect to see new gameplay and other TSR game features at SXSW, and from then until launch. We'll also be playing it on the livestreams after SXSW.

Updates to the Steam Database has revealed what appears to be the achievement list for Team Sonic Racing.

Team Sonic Racing’s soundtrack certainly seems to be shaping up as one of the most rock-centric OSTs to feature in a Sonic the hedgehog title for many years, and this insight into the recording process doesn’t let up at all!

Twitter user しをさかな discovered a nice surprise when they bought the newest issue of Famitsu in Japan a few moments ago. Originally they purchased the magazine for an article on Kingdom Hearts 3, but upon reading it discovered a two page spread on Team Sonic Racing which contains a lot of new information. SEGA has released a new piece of concept art through the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account, which shows Silver dodging lasers on a new tracked called “Frozen Junkyard.” The track appears to be a frozen path suspended over a bottomless pit, with a robot that looks like an amalgamation of Sonic Forces’ Death Crab and Death Egg Robot sentinel acting as a stage hazard. SEGA’s bi-weekly reveals of new Team Sonic racing courses has continued with the reveal of a brand new course: Sand Road. Inspired by Sonic Adventure’s sand-surfing course, Sand Hill, Team Sonic Racing will let players race across the location’s sandy dunes for the first time in nearly twenty years.
When they do, players will also be treated to a remixed version of Sand Hill’s music track, which will feature Tee Lopes and Jun Senoue, with Takeshi Taneda on bass. Check out the music track (and a screen shot of the course) in the video below:

It’s hard to believe that we first found out about this game back in 2016 and only now we have some clean footage of the game at last!
Clean footage of Sega Sonic Bros has been posted online, directly taken from a new modified version of MAME.
The footage showcases a few new things which we didn’t know previously. When the game reaches level 30, a new SegaSonic Bro enters the game, a white/silver Sonic!
Another new discovery is that at level 40 the music changes to the Blue Spheres theme from Sonic 3, this predates that game by over 2 years! You can check that out in the second video at around 22 seconds.
I’m being told that the individual who compiled this version of MAME goes by the name of GerbilSoft, so send your thanks to them!
