‘SEGA Heroes’ Mobile Game Is Dead; Servers Shut Down in May

SEGA’s epic crossover mobile puzzle game, SEGA Heroes, is shutting down. The company made the surprise announcement earlier today via press release, citing an end to its partnership with US-based studio Demiurge as the reason for the closure. Sonic Heroes EU PS2 Box Art

US ratings board the ESRB has rated Sonic Heroes for the PlayStation 3, suggesting the PlayStation 2 game will finally be making its way to the US PS Store following its release on the European PS Store last February. No official word from SEGA or Sony, but as soon as there is, we’ll be sure to pass on the details.

S&ASR Transformed PS Vita Out This Friday in Europe, Delayed in US Again?

Retailers have been listing the PS Vita version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed for release in Europe on December 7th 2012 for a while, but now Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycett aka S0L has confirmed the date at our very own SSMB.

I’m waiting for confirmation over on the US side, but the EU Vita version should be out this Friday on the 7th December

A post by SSMB member BlueTidalGamer reporting on his copy being despatched reaffirms this.

My copy of the Vita version has dispatched from ShopTo.

SEGA Europe still hasn’t announced a date and both their website and press site to this day still say it and the 3DS version have been out since November 16th 2012 with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

As for the US, Lycett says in the above quoted post that he’s waiting for confirmation of a release date from SEGA of America. With retailers listing a new date of December 18th 2012, this indicates that the PS Vita version may well not meet its originally announced release date of December 11th 2012, though SEGA of America’s website is still listing that same date.

Dreamy Sonic Team OSTs Soar onto iTunes

And I honestly hope your wallets are ready for them.

The folks at SEGA are working on double time as of late. From the North American premiere of Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph last weekend, where the blue blur made numerous cameos, and with Sumo Digital’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on the way this month, some would expect that that would be all from SEGA for the upcoming holidays. With everyone’s attention elsewhere, SEGA has quietly released numerous soundtracks onto the iTunes market.

Available for select regions, specifically the US, Japan, and most of Europe, the onslaught of soundtrack releases began last week with Sonic the Hedgehog Original Soundtrack and Sonic Unleashed Original Soundtrack: Planetary Pieces. Eager fans of Sonic Unleashed and Sonic 2006‘s music may now procure the complete soundtrack to both games!

And today (by EST standards, mind you!), I was notified by TRiPPY of NightsintoDreams.com that NiGHTS into dreams… Perfect Album and NiGHTS: Journey into Dreams Original Soundtrack have both snuck onto the digital music marketplace as well! The timing is perfect, considering that NiGHTS into Dreams saw an upgraded rerelease onto XBLA and PSN worldwide just last month (which, if you haven’t bought and played already, you should)!

S&ASR Transformed US TV Commercial Appears Online

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will soon be available at retail and with that in mind SEGA has started their TV advertising campaign in the US. The whole commercial feels like a brief episode of Wacky Races and SEGA is really pushing Danica Patrick’s presence, but oddly not Wreck-It-Ralph. You can view the commercial in the video above.

US Soundtrack Option Confirmed for Sonic CD Port

Three new videos of the Xbox Live Arcade version of the upcoming Sonic CD port have hit the net courtesy of YouTube user The360Preview. In the above gameplay preview video we can see an option for the US soundtrack, which is kind of odd considering SEGA had previously stated that there were copyright issues with those tracks, but Christian Whitehead has confirmed over at Sonic Retro under his online tag ‘The Taxman’ that the US soundtrack is indeed present in this port.

Haha far out, not exactly sure how this was filmed and by who (PartnerNET strikes again)?

But yes, oh ye of little faith. US soundtrack is in, and also loops seamlessly like the JP version in this game.

SEGA Launches Official EU & US Sonic Generations Website

SEGA has today finally launched an official Sonic Generations website for Europe and the US. Unfortunately, right now there is nothing new to be found apart from three new screenshots of City Escape, Rooftop Run and Seaside Hill in the home console version of the game. There is plenty of content locked out to look forward to until the game’s release, though.

We’ll keep tabs on the website and update you when new content is revealed.

You can check out the new screenshots below.

Sonic Generations US Release Date Officially Confirmed, 3DS Date Still Unclear

SEGA has updated their Sonic Generations product page in all territories with their respective release dates for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Though SEGA’s ad at IGN gave it away last month, we now officially know the game will launch in the US on November 1st, and as reported earlier, November 4th in Europe and November 3rd in Australia.

EU
PS3 & Xbox 360: November 4th 2011
3DS: November 2011

US
PS3 & Xbox 360: November 1st 2011
3DS: Late 2011

AU
PS3 & Xbox 360: November 3rd 2011
3DS: November 2011

As for the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, there is no release date clearer than November to speak of, which suggests the game will release on that platform later in the month. We’ll let you know when a release date for the that version of the game is revealed.

Play Sonic Generations and M&S London at Simon Malls US Tour

Last night SEGA announced via their Twitter feed that Sonic Generations and Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games will be among the many games playable at the upcoming Simon Malls US GamePlay tour. The tour will make 26 stops beginning tomorrow in the Dadeland Mall in Miami, FL and ending November 13th at the Ontario Mills mall in Ontario, CA. SEGA says only the console version of Sonic Generations will be available on the tour, so those who want to try out the 3DS version are out of luck. There’s no word on platforms for Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Other publishers attending include THQ, Namco Bandai Games, Eidos, Sony with PS3 and PlayStation Move titles and Nintendo with Nintendo 3DS titles.

Will you be attending any of the tour stops? Let us know in the comments.
