Yes, seriously. Sonic Generations is 95% off it’s MSRP on Steam right now, so you’d better act quickly! In fact, many other Sonic games are available for a ridiculously low price.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is Now Backwards Compatible with Xbox One
The Xbox One has a growing list of backwards compatible games from the previous generation, be it from a retail release on the Xbox 360 or a digital title via the old Live Arcade. From it also comes a steady stream of Sonic games, with the classic games, Sonic the Fighters, and both episodes of Sonic 4 having been rereleased onto Microsoft’s modern console.
Earlier today, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced that three more games are relaunching on Xbox One Backwards Compatibility today, including Sumo Digital’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The second All-Stars racing game originally launched in November 2012 across several platforms to a positive critical reception.

Music: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed OST Cruises In
Are you tired of the same old boring routine of “just” driving around with that gosh darn newfangled hip-pop, and kids with their ol’ timey Top 25 Songs of the Week that you’ve been hearing week after week before? Do you need something new to spice up your time behind the wheel? Well, strap in your seatbelt and hit the pedal to the metal, because we’ve got just the thing!
An official soundtrack release for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Sumo Digital’s multiplatform racing game with transformable vehicles, racers and race tracks commemorating SEGA’s history and numerous franchises, and a killer OST arranged by the one and only Richard Jacques, has gone live on iTunes and Amazon. The sound collection has been split into two albums with 34 tracks in each, one volume priced at the reasonable 9.99$/£7.99/8,99 €/¥1,600 online.
“But Vizard! That means there are only 68 songs total, right? Doesn’t Transformed have more tunes in-game in comparison? Who should we mark as Missing on the sides of milk cartons?!”
For those curious, the only missing tracks from the actual game are the All-Star themes to guest characters Wreck-It Ralph and Danica Patrick, and those of the PC exclusive, Xbox Avatar, and Nintendo Mii characters, as well as certain jingles, but, save for that, the complete soundtrack to the core experience is all there, present and accounted for, for you to enjoy! Boost your acceleration with Ocean View, drift along to Burning Depths, speed past other drivers with Race of Ages, headbang along to Adder’s Lair, and so on!
On a serious note, however, don’t actually do any of those things. Except buying the soundtrack. Yes. That’s okay. Listening to it while driving is okay too. Remember, eyes on the road, be courteous to your fellow drivers, and obey the speed limit! This isn’t a video game, this is real life, baby!

It is unknown at this time how many other platforms he will show up on in the future, although we have already reported on him being sighted in the Yogscast Charity Stream which was the PC version. Shenmue’s Ryō Hazuki Leaked as ASRT DLC via Yogscast Charity Stream
Aw yeah, this is happenin’!
Though there is no confirmation as to which platforms outside of PC will be receiving this, if any, it has nonetheless been revealed through the recent Yogscast Humble Bundle charity stream that Ryō Hazuki of the Dreamcast cult classic Shenmue series will be hitting the streets of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed in the near future!
In November of last year, Steve “S0L” Lycett of SUMO Digital had challenged fans to vote among a slew of SEGA characters to decide a top three for ASRT DLC coming down the line. Since then, a number of exclusive characters, mainly from SEGA’s own PC-centric titles, have found their way into the PC version of the game, but Ryō, who won by a landslide of 3379 votes, marks himself as the first DLC character to have come as a result of the community polls.
We’ll keep you posted once word has come as to what platforms Ryō is expected to arrive on, and when!
Now let’s see, who were the runners-up again…?

Sonic and All Stars Wii U Patch Predicament
UPDATE: According to Nuckles87, patch only affect first two boost missions. Costing you 8 stars at the most, so not as bad as previously thought.
New Wii U owners may not want to update too fast. It seems Sega’s first patch for Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed has a glitch in it that stops some boost challenges from having checkpoints. Leaving you with no other choice but to fail the mission which leaves you stuck. However, there are some ways around it.
Play while it’s updating and finish the challenge. There’s no guarantee that there won’t be another glitched challenge, but it will get you past that.
Editor Nuckles87 has discovered that if you fail the mission four times on easy, it will let you pass to the next challenge.
If you just got your brand new Wii U. I’d recommend holding off on doing the system update until this game breaking issue gets a new patch of it’s own.

Community Challenged to Decide Transformed DLC Characters
Selecting characters for Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing: Transformed has been no easy task for the SUMO Digital team, with many fans voicing their opinions as to which SEGA characters they want to see included in the roster.
A few days ago, Steve Lycett of SUMO Digital (otherwise known as S0L on the interwebs) issued the community a challenge via the SEGA forums:
I’ll set you a challange. Without any policing from the SUMO or SEGA crew, if you can all agree on three characters by the 1st of December and prove there is sufficient interest of at least 1000 unique people *per* character, I will present the result to SEGA. I can’t promise anything will happen as a result, but since you’re starting it…
While nothing is set in stone as to what the outcome of any response will be, the community have already formed a collective and responded. T B from the SEGA forums has organised a set of petitions for the introduction of several SEGA characters as DLC for ASR:T.
Included in the list of characters you can petition for are Axel Stone from Streets of Rage, Ristar, Segata Sanshiro and Bayonetta amongst a whole host of familiar characters.
If you want to participate by adding your signature to one or more of the petitions, follow this link to the SEGA forum which outlines what is required to add your name to the cause.

Richard Jacques Does Sega Remixes for SAASRT. Check Out Some Soundtrack Samples!
Jet Set Radio Sample (From Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed) by Destructoid
Richard Jacques is back with Sega again and remixing some of their classic game music with a modern twist. Now, it’s not just the vehicles that transform, it’s the music! In a new preview from Destructoid, Steve Lycett showed off some soundtrack samples from the upcoming game and it’s looking pretty dang sweet.
Richard Jacques had this to say.
You are not going to believe some of the music we’ve managed to get into the game and I am sure the fans will agree this is without doubt, the best soundtrack we’ve included in an All-Stars game to date!
Sega, PLEASE put this on iTunes! Don’t make me beg.
Check out two more tracks in the comment section.

S&ASRT IGN Preview Gives New Wii U Details
There’s more Sonic All-Stars new racing your way today as IGN reveals a hands-on preview with the Wii-U version. The Wii-U version will include the ability to play the game on the game pad only sans TV or can be used to include a hub to keep the main screen clear.
When you’re in a race, jockeying for position, the screen displays a range of pertinent information – the current order of racers, a mini-map of the course. It’s all unintrusive and useful, but I expect most people to keep their eyes firmly on the race. Similarly, when you unleash one of the game’s eccentric power-ups, you’ll be able to see its destiny on the GamePad’s screen. Launch a remote-controlled car loaded with a stick of dynamite and you can watch it travel towards its unfortunate target.
Also mentioned is one of the games arena modes that use the Wii-U game pad to it’s advantage.
Depending on the circumstances, a GamePad can prove to be an advantage or disadvantage, and All-Stars Racing Transformed smartly uses this discrepancy as the basis for its mini-games.
I only saw one during my time with the Wii U version, called ‘Super Monkey Ball Arena’, and whomever had the GamePad took control of AiAi, who was as usual encased in his perspex sphere. Meanwhile, opponents using Classic Controllers played as Sonic and Tails in racing cars. The aim of the mini-game was simple: before the time ran out, squash the tiny versions of Sonic and Tails, who were driving around attempting to collect as many bananas as possible.
The Wii-U version of the game is shaping up to be very unique from the other consoles. We should be hearing more as the game nears it’s launch in November. In the meantime, make sure to check the full preview on IGN.
