According to GameStop, Sonic Unleashed will be coming to the Wii, PS2, Xbox 360, and PS3 on November 4th, 2008. The prices vary from SKU to SKU, but the PS2 version will be selling for the budget price of $30, while the Wii and PS3/360 versions will be going for the standard $50/$60 price tag respectivey.
GameStop can often be a source for new info on upcoming games, with prices, release dates, names, and platforms for upcoming games often leaked months before the publisher officially announces the info. They where the ones who leaked Samba De Amigo Wii early, among other games. While their track record is very solid, any info from them should still be regarded as speculation and rumor, until officially confirmed by SEGA.

It appears Sonic has returned to the realm of side scrollers and on rails game play in his latest console outing. Good stuff.
UPDATE: Looks like SEGA-On’s video was removed, so much for that. We know you love a good video though, so courtesy of our good friends at X-CulT, you can download a modified version of the (rather stupidly large at 600MB) video from their website. Also, if you want a laugh, click here.

Dennis, from a German gaming magazine, has confirmed that Sonic Unleashed will indeed be a multiplatform release:
“Sonic unleashed will be on the cover of the next PLAY magazine, it will also feature in Nintendo’s magazine (NOM) and will be in the August issue. The screens I have uploaded are from the Xbox 360 version of the game, however, the game is going to be a multiformat release.”
This confirms both a 360 and a Wii version, at least.
Special thanks goes out to TSS’s own Casanova for reporting this info, and sending in the above Google translation.

EDIT: Due to many people misinterpreting simple English, here’s a clarification. Sonic Unleashed has not been confirmed to follow directly from Sonic 06’s story. It is simply to be considered the next ‘real’ Sonic game in the series, after Sonic 06 – which was the next canon game after Sonic Heroes. There is clearly a big dark creature that reminds us of Iblis in Sonic Unleashed, much like there was a dark evil Iblis-esque creature in Sonic and the Secret Rings regarding the Ifrit. This suggests – but not confirms – that SEGA are once again being influenced by a similar ‘dark’ storyline to tie up the game. Thank you for misunderstanding. If English is not your native language however we’ll let you off.
Further, The Sonic Stadium has obtained this information via its own sources and the only information that lies under ‘speculation’ is the information that immediately follows the word ‘speculation’. END EDIT.

Last year, SEGA announced that Mario and Sonic will sell four million copies in it’s lifetime. People scoffed.
Well today, it seems, SEGA will have the last laugh. SEGA has announced today that not only has Mario and Sonic reach it’s goal of four million copies sold, it has surpassed it, selling a total of five million copies worldwide. “With adored icons and fun game play, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has shot to the top of the sales charts and is clearly resonating with the growing audience of casual gamers that want an engaging and accessible gaming experience,” said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America. “The market for entertaining games that everyone can enjoy is growing faster than any other segment in the industry, thanks in part to the explosive popularity of Wii and Nintendo DS,” continued Jeffery. “A key element of our growth strategy at SEGA is to develop and publish games that appeal to this expanding market.”
Mario and Sonic can owe much of it’s success to the UK, where the game has consistently remained in the top five every week since it’s release.

For the 3rd consecutive week running the game is now again at the top of the all-formats chart(week ending March 1st 2008), this also marks the games 6th week at the top of the charts.

CVG have some exclusive info and screenshots of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood from the upcoming issue of NGamer. The article reveals controls for things like loop-de-loops, springboards and platform jumping. The story is revealed to be more linear than most Bioware titles.
Most surprising of the info is that the tone of the game will be darker than what has been previously shown such as at one moment in the game Amy says to Rouge “You’re a tramp!”.
One of the new screenshots reveal the character summary page where you can see each characters attack list. In the screenshot shown Sonic’s attacks are revealed which all sound pretty interesting. Other screenshots display some battle sequences.

SEGA have handed The Sonic Stadium several exclusive screenshots of the upcoming Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games… er, game on Nintendo DS. The title is scheduled for release on February 8th (that’s this Friday fact fans) and features many events found in the Wii version, only downsized and built for the touch screen portable. There will also be a few Nintendo DS specific events, including Cycling and Basketball.
Basketball involves touching balls on the touch screen and throwing them upwards to land in the moving basket nets in the top screen. Power up balls appear including ones that block opponent’s nets, lining up your own nets for combos and golden balls for triple points. Here we see Waluigi taking the top gong – we’re not entirely sure whether Rory was playing this game when the screengrabs were taken… Continue reading Mario & Sonic DS Exclusive Screens

It looks like the Classic range of Sonic goodies hitting the shelves will not be stopping anytime soon! First 4 figures (the company that has produced the Assassin’s Creed Altair figurine and the incredibly detailed Link figurine from Ocarina of Time) have recently acquired the rights from Jetix to produce a series of vinyl figures based on the classic style of the Sonic the Hedgehog characters.
The first wave of figures will include Sonic the Hedgehog in a running pose, as well as a Tails and a Knuckles figurine. First 4 Figures hopes to preview these figurines at both the Nuremberg and New York toy fairs, with their release date currently being placed in July of this year.
Fans will no doubt be impressed that companies like First 4 Figures are now also catering for the Adult collectors market – I personally cannot wait to get my hands on a set!

The Simpsons, America’s longest running comedy, has spoofed and referenced everything from James Bond to Furbies. Even the red plumber himself, Mario, recieved a cameo appearance during a barrel throwing gag done in the vein of the classic Donkey Kong. So I ask you…WHERE is my Sonic the Hedgehog spoof? Surely Matt Groening and his cohorts are more then mere Nintendo fanboys?
Well, for the three of us who’ve been waiting for the Simpsons to do SOMETHING with Sonic, the wait is finally, sort of, over. In the latest episode, Sonic the Hedgehog and Amy Rose make a brief appearance on a billboard, which says “Sonic the Hedgehog Says: Wait Until Marriage”, showing Sonic presenting Amy with a ring.
