Sega has released a new Sonic Unleashed trailer that teases us again about the whole Werehog thing. The trailer is set in a city at night showcasing mysterious sightings of blue hair and silhouttes “swinging from lamp post to lamp post”. The trailer first appeared at G4TV but has now shown up at Gametrailers.com with the title – “E3 2008: Mysterious Sightings Trailer”, so could we be seeing some proper gameplay or footage of Sonic’s vicious transformation at E3?
A screencap from the trailer of the Werehog has been posted at the SSMB by member Diogenes –
Very vicious indeedy! A lot of commentators on other sites have been quick to tear this trailer apart because of the fact ‘humans are in it’ and all that other garbage, but that’s like saying Sonic Advance had humans in it because of this commercial. Get a grip, ladies.

Records

Do you remember the days of pencil toppers? Begging your parents to buy a box of cereal because it came with a cool pencil topper you wanted to show off at school so you didn’t look like a nerd while answering those tough maths problems? Well now when you buy Samba De Amigo Wii you can top off your Wii Remote with your very own maracca topper.
They look exactly like the peripheral maracca’s you got with the Dreamcast game and look to add to the fun of shaking the remotes like them. My only question is: Will they hold? If you remember back to when the Wii was first released there was many news reports, images and video’s across the net and newspapers complaining about people losing grip and hurting people with the Wii remotes. So unless these maracca Wii remote heads come with something to secure them to the Wii remote, people are going to be complaining all over again that they were bopped in the head with the topper and danced a dizzy samba to the floor.

Yesterday Nintendo Europe unveiled their release schedule for the rest of the year. Contained in the schedule are a couple of surprise Sega games: check out the Nintendo Europe release schedule there and you’ll notice a DS version of Sonic Unleashed.
Hm. Also listed was a Wii version of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. This confused many a Sega fan, but Sega came to the rescue and stated that they do not have plans to release Sonic Unleashed on DS or Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Wii. Sort it out Nintendo Europe!

As you will have seen in other recent posts, Sega Europe invited The Sonic Stadium to the Wii Flat in London to preview Sonic Chronicles. We were puzzled as to why we were previewing a DS game at the Wii Flat (well I was anyway) but we found out why in a shock surprise by Kevin (AAUK) that we would also be playing an early version of Samba De Amigo for Wii. First to volunteer was Dan Dyer followed by an eager-to-party me.
Having never played Samba De Amigo on the Dreamcast or arcades I didn’t know what to expect but I would soon be finding out when Kevin set up a multiplayer game and handed us each a Wii Remote and Nunchuk. We were shown the song list and given a track called Samba De Janeiro which Samba fans will recognise from the Dreamcast version and Sega Superstars Tennis. UPDATE: Official Nintendo Magazine have unveiled on their website the Sonic Unleashed front cover of their magazine which reveals that new screens and information will be in Fridays issue. They also say – “Yes, by day Sonic is the blue hedgehog we all know and love but, when the sun sets, he turns into a werehog with claws and fangs.
This does make a difference to the gameplay as the werehog is slower but stronger, meaning he can swing around levels, move obstacles and hurl enemies around.”

Nothing in the UK seems to be able to stop Sega’s successful title Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games for Nintendo Wii and DS. For the 3rd consecutive week running the game is now again at the top of the all-formats chart(week ending March 1st 2008), this also marks the games 6th week at the top of the charts.

CVG have some exclusive info and screenshots of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood from the upcoming issue of NGamer. The article reveals controls for things like loop-de-loops, springboards and platform jumping. The story is revealed to be more linear than most Bioware titles.
Most surprising of the info is that the tone of the game will be darker than what has been previously shown such as at one moment in the game Amy says to Rouge “You’re a tramp!”.
One of the new screenshots reveal the character summary page where you can see each characters attack list. In the screenshot shown Sonic’s attacks are revealed which all sound pretty interesting. Other screenshots display some battle sequences.

The Sega Homebrew community are currently working on a new Mega Drive and Mega CD game called Pier Solar and plan to release it on cartridge for Mega Drive and of course CD for Mega CD. The game is not licensed, produced or endorsed by Sega so I don’t know how they plan on mass producing it on cartridge and CD to the public.
Anyway, the game is an anime stype RPG and look’s quite good from the screenshots and trailer. The guys have even made an official website for the game.
The game is set for a Fall 2008 release.

Takashi Izuka has said in an interview with German site G-Wie-Gorilla that he think’s Nintendo’s machine was the right choice for NiGHTS and if they make a future installment it will be for Wii.
“When we decided to finally make a sequel to NiGHTS, we didn’t know which console it would be for,” he recalled. “We only decided later on that we would develop the game for the Wii. But I think it was a good choice – should we make another instalment, we would make it for the Wii.”
The new Wii game NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams has seen a mix of positive and negative reviews so far with it’s Japan and US launches but with the European release soon and the NiGHTS into Dreams port to PS2 hitting Japan soon we won’t count the jester out just yet.

If your looking for a Sonic fix on Xbox 360 or PS3 this Christmas, don’t expect to find it in your local high street or shopping centre. Many major video game retailers in the UK have now removed stock of Sonic the Hedgehog for Xbox 360/PS3 from their shelves. Stores include: GAME, Gamestation, HMV, Zavvi, Currys/Digital and Comet.
Many online retailers have stopped listing the game too or have it listed as ‘Out of stock’. Gamestation’s site had it listed as ‘Out of stock’ this morning and removed the game this afternoon. Some online retailers still have it in stock at very cheap clearance type prices.
HMV’s website lists both formats currently out of stock;
Zavvi’s website lists both formats at clearance type prices;
AmazonUK only list it by other sellers and no longer sell it themselves now;
GAME’s website list the PS3 version as ‘Stock alert’
Gamestation’s website listed both formats this morning as ‘Out of stock’ and now this afternoon it is no longer listed but replaced with “No results” messages.
