TSS Review: Sonic Adventure 2

In SA2 you can choose to play as either the Dark Side to take over the world, or the Heroes trying to save it, in different perspectives of the same story. You can play as Eggman (YES!) to help the fat one and newcomers Rouge the Bat and Shadow the Hedgehog (who you can also play as) to destroy the world (yet again, Eggman never gives up). Classic Sonic Stage Returns as SA2 Unlockable

Sonic Adventure 2 has a little secret. A classic, 16-Bit secret. Being the 10th Anniversary of the Sonic series, you’d think Sonic Team would add something special to the Dreamcast sequel. And indeed the developer has: if you’re able to collect every Emblem in the game, you unlock an extra stage called Green Hill. Check out screenshots of this in action below. Dreadknux’s Diaries: The Kick-Ass Relaunch

This is a series of personal blogs written by Dreadknux during the formative years of The Sonic Stadium. It chronicles significant events in the website’s early life.

Here I am, uploading all the files through CuteFTP into Angelfire, taking bloody ages because there’s so much new stuff to upload. Then I realise that I have no more room. ARGH! I was in panic, I had one night to upload all my things. Then I noticed Topcities that did 150MB of space. Crikey! I signed up, uploaded, and the day was saved! Yuji Naka has talked some more about Phantasy Star Online for the Nintendo Gamecube. In particular, he’s revealed how the version’s four-player mode came about – and would you believe it, it’s all because the development team had single machines lined up next to each other. Sonic’s 10th Anniversary: The Ten Year History!

This article is to celebrate the special occasion that is Sonic’s Birthday – Today, on June 23rd, 1991, the first Sonic game was released upon a crowd of unsuspecting video gamers. It was due to Sonic’s coolness and the way that the Sonic games instantly made platform games fashionable, plus with the backing of the greatest games developer in the world, that Sonic the Hedgehog became more popularly known in the video game household. Fan Game Review: Sonic Wars

Sonic Wars, released by Diablo on Sonic’s Birthday (that explains the familiar icons appearing at the title screen), is your average Sonic platforming adventure. But, although this seems good for a game that’s rushed (hey, it wasn’t me that said it, Diablo admitted it ^_^), there are a few flaws that stop this game from getting as good as it should have been. Sonic’s 10th Anniversary: Sega’s Rivals

In the past, Sega has had tough competition from an old respected rival called Nintendo. Consequently, Sonic and Mario were constantly fighting for the Number One spot in people’s lives (of course, the hedgehog won). But aside from Ninty, who have been Sega and Sonic’s rivals, past and new? Well, here’s the lowdown on the bad boys. Continue reading Sonic’s 10th Anniversary: Sega’s Rivals

Bootleg Zone: Somari (NES)

Some ROM Hacks try to be serious. You know, like the game was supposed to be the way it was hacked. But what people trying to achieve this fail to realise is, that it never ever works out like that, and just turns out to be a pile of cack. The whole point of ROM Hacking, I think, is to have a bit of fun and to experiment. It’s interesting. So it’s refreshing to see Somari pop it’s ugly, but oh so entertaining head from the pile of ROM Hacks we have today. Despite it being old, it is in fact one of the best Hacks, and here’s why… Continue reading Bootleg Zone: Somari (NES)

Pulling ‘Sonic Crackers’

Sonic Crackers was announced for the Sega 32X soon after Sonic 1 and 2 was released on the Mega Drive. It’s initial WIP title was actually ‘Sonic Stadium’, believe it or not! Crackers featured much of the same action that you can now find in Knuckles Chaotix, which was released in 1995. It was assumed that Sonic Crackers was lost to the world, but a ROM of the prototype has surfaced and we can now tell you the odds and ends of this curious little game. First Details on Sonic X-Treme, the Saturn Game That Never Was

This game, if released, would have done for the Sega Saturn what Sonic Adventure did for the Dreamcast. Considering a lot more people bought the Saturn, of course. Fan Game Preview: Sonic S-V2

The demo for Diablo’s upcoming fan game is now out in the wild, and I must say, it plays very well. Only Sonic is playable right now, but in the finished game you’ll be able to play as one of three other heroes too – Diablo, Blaze and Hez Hedgehog (with a secret fifth character hinted at by Diablo). All four characters have different jump and speed attributes, meaning that completing some levels may prove more difficult for some characters. Continue reading Fan Game Preview: Sonic S-V2

Woah Woah Woah! Hold the Phone! MARIO and SONIC?

No, this is not a blatant lie – there is very big rumour that Sega and Nintendo are indeed in working on a game. But – and get this – this will be a landmark game that’ll bring Sonic and Mario together for the very first time! According to the latest issue of the UK ‘N64’ magazine by Future Publishing, the news sounded pretty much like it was no rumour – so if this is true, it will bring a tear to many feuding Nintendo/Sega fans of old. Truly remarkable news. Sonic and Mario, joining forces it seems, the thought of it is just… wow! And I mean WOW!

Dreadknux’s Diaries: Soon to Relaunch With Sonic Fan Club

This is a series of personal blogs written by Dreadknux during the formative years of The Sonic Stadium. It chronicles significant events in the website’s early life.

I figured I should make up a new project that should involve the whole of the Sonic community. After all, that is what I’m here for. I looked at all the Fan submission sites – SFGHQ, SSRG, etc, and I thought why not have a fan submission section where ALL the aspects of Sonic fandom are included? It does make sense right? And thus, the Sonic Fan Club was born, and the first of its kind. 😀 Continue reading Dreadknux’s Diaries: Soon to Relaunch With Sonic Fan Club

Stick with Ninty for Sonic Team! Confused?

Probably. But those of us that have a Sega Dreamcast, like me, are likely thinking about what console to get next. Seeings as Sega is currently not making any more consoles, the sensible option would be to grab the machine that has the most Sega support going for it. Well, at this stage it’s hard to tell, but in an interview led by IGN, Yuji Naka, Sonic Team boss (and God in many people’s eyes), has said to stick with the Nintendo GameCube should you be a full on fan of Sonic Team.
