Sonic X Archie comic mini series surprise

The first issue of a four part Sonic-X comic series seems to have slipped under the radar for most Sonic fans, but with the discovery of the existence of such a series came another shock: Archie comics (long standing producers of the ‘SONIC THE HEDGEHOG’ comic) have decided, starting with issue 5, that the series be an ongoing venture. Sonic Voiceover Cast Replaced

Ryan Drummond, voice actor for Sonic the Hedgehog in the SONICTEAM games for the last five years, has revealed to the Sonic community about his replacement by Jason Griffith from the ‘SONIC X’ cast.

In an email he has sent to fans ahead of his monthly newsletter on RyanDrummond.com, Drummond has explained how SEGA made a decision to replace the entire Game Voiceover Cast of the Sonic games with the Voiceover Cast from the US Dub ‘SONIC X’ cartoon, without letting him know about it. In a shock, if perhaps inevitable direction by the ‘House of Sonic’, the company felt that the move would maintain a level of continuity between the games and other products, such as the cartoon series. Sonic X Toys Coming To Australia

When it comes to Sonic merchandise, things have been pretty tough down under, that was, until the recent release of Sonic X on DVD, which it seems has paved the way for more Sonic merchandise such us the soon to be on sale Sonic X figures.

Moose Toys, a company that deals primarily with craft and somewhat abstract toys have picked up the rights to redistribute the figures which are currently on sale already in the US and UK.

Slated for simply a June release, the toys should be available soon from all major toy retailers with no RRP specified yet.

UK Sonic X DVDs

With the amount of money spent on video games, and being home to two of the biggest gaming developers in the world, you’d be forgiven for thinking the UK was actually a third-world country when it comes to the industry. Particularly for Sonic merchandise, where material on the blue blur besides games have all but dried up in comparison to other countries.

One of the biggest conspiracy theories was regarding the lack of a domestic release of the Sonic X cartoon on DVD. Despite having DVD releases in Australia and Holland as long as eight months ago, there had been no word in the (regular, brown) hedgehog haven that is Britain. Continue reading UK Sonic X DVDs

Woo, DRED is ALIVE

How’s it going guys? A big update today, as I said yesterday. First off, Sonic Kid sent us a huge bunch of scans and the Sonic X French Theme, so you can view and download all those things. It’s called for a new section for the Comics Zone called Foreign Comics. The Sonic X Theme can be found in the Sonic X section. Flare Gamer who is constructing a cool site asked me for an interview a few weeks back, and you can read the transcript here if you got nothing better to do. AND, there was also the TSS Timeline update made yesterday, which has a complete psychological history of TSS during 2004 up till this present day. For more updates, check out TSS’ front page, under “Latest Updates”.

But for more exciting things, looking ahead now! The Sonic Stadium will be FIVE YEARS OLD in October. October 24th to be exact. And what does a major Sonic site need to make its existence complete? Why, the legendary 1 MILLION VISIT count of course. If you check the Site Meter for The Sonic Stadium you can see that we are close to the 1M mark. Granted, it’s a fair way off, but it’s worth shouting about, even this early. 903,500 unique visitors have entered TSS since October 24th, 2000 (on last count; today at 8:22pm GMT). At this rate we’ll be hitting that target in a month or two! Exciting. 😀 Anyway, enjoy those updates.

Sonic X – Woo, it’s not the end after all. Sort of.

Well, as most people in the UK know, CiTV were showing Sonic X on Wednesdays. Cool, but a bit of a bugger after Fox Kids decided to show it 4:30pm every day a week or so ago.

Episode 13 has passed and gone, and it seems both Fox Kids and CiTV don’t want to go past it, as Fox Kids are already showing repeats.

CiTV will be showing reruns of Sonic X starting Monday at 3:40pm every day, AND it won’t be the 5-minute cut version. It will be the 25 minute long, as-long-as-the-US-version… version.

Who knows if FK and CiTV plan on showing more? I reckon CiTV are playing a set of reruns to attract people who missed out the first time, or just want to see the extra ‘uncut’ version, then continuing the series. Which would be a good idea.
