SEGA’s Japanese Twitter account has revealed the names of for voice actors for the upcoming Japanese dub of Paramount’s Sonic movie.
All of these actors are pretty prolific, with long resumes, although none of them have done voice work in previous Sonic products.
Taishi Nakagawa will voice Sonic, Kōichi Yamadera will voice Dr.Robotnik/Eggman, Yuichi Nakamura will voice Sonic’s cop buddy Tom, and Marina Inoue will voice Maddie. While none of them have ever been featured in a Sonic project before, Yamadera did apparently narrate a Sonic Adventure commercial in the nineties!
Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog will be released in the Americas and Europe on February 14, with the Japanese releasing following over a month later on March 27.

Early last year, the world saw the first trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and we got our first look at what the blue blur would finally look like on the silver screen. To say that fans, non-fans, and society in general had a very negative reaction to what was shown onscreen would be a gross understatement. From his small eyes, his wide head, pasty-white hands with clawed fingers and human-like proportions, Sonic looked hideous. Practically a monster. When the original trailer for the Sonic Movie debuted in April this year, there was… a lot of material to work with, let’s just say. It was pretty common to see snapshots of Sonic’s teeth or dumbfounded expression across the Internet, and it was just as common to see it Photoshopped to be the butt of some joke.
Now, thanks to the new trailer that recently dropped (to some pretty high praise), the Internet has more material to work with, but with a much less “meme-able” design, is it still possible to poke fun at the Sonic Movie? The answer is “yes, absolutely!” Sit back and grab some popcorn (or a chili dog!), because here are our favourites we’ve found on Twitter: Continue reading Our Favourite Sonic Movie Memes on Twitter

Comicbook recently sat down with Yukio Kusumoto, producer of the Sonic Mania Adventures and Team Sonic Racing: Overdrive animated shorts. The interview, amongst a treasure trove of other facts, summarized how Sonic Mania came to be.
[EDIT: Tyson Hesse also chimed in on the story via Twitter, also crediting Sonic Social Manager Aaron Webber for his part in the realisation of Sonic Mania Adventures:
He isn’t mentioned here, but the story of Mania Adventures can’t be told without mentioning Aaron Webber, tbh. Without his championing internally for the value of it there wouldn’t have been animation for Sonic social at all.”

For years, anyone wanting to own Sonic Boom on physical media have had to deal with piece-meal releases, whether it’s America’s two meager 8 episode volumes, or the UK’s more substantial 13 episode volumes. According to a new Amazon listing, it looks like those days might be finally coming to an end, with Sonic Boom Season 1, Volume 1, coming courtesy of NCircle Entertainment.
Slated for release on October 1, the two-disc volume comes in two packages: a $25 version bundled with Sonic & Eggman action figures made by TOMY, and a $15 version that just has the show. The first volume comes with 26 episodes, which covers half of the first season.
You can pre-order the DVD here. You can check out the included figures, DVD arc, and a list of included episodes in the images below:
The episodes are listed out of order on the back.
Currently, there’s no word of when (or if) the second volume is coming. Given that this isn’t the show’s first DVD release, it’s probably only a matter of time.
