Sonic Adventure 2 Getting Karting Mini-Game
Sonic Team confirmed today that Sonic Adventure 2 does come with a bonus goodie all its own- a mini kart racing game where players can race against each other for rings and bonuses. There’ll be a few tracks and players available initially, but Sonic Team will make new tracks and players available via downloads from the Internet. This should be the case for the US and Japanese versions alike, as well as the European release.

Chao Can Be Good or Evil in SA2
We knew that Chao Gardens were set to return in Sonic Adventure 2, but we’ve never seen anything like this before! It looks like you’ll be able to now raise Good and Evil Chao!
The latest update to the official Sonic Team website shows the image of an angelic and demonic Chao, that can apparently be raised by any of the characters in the game. This is one of the first Sonic titles officially developed for a non-Sega platform – namely the Neo Geo Pocket Color. This release was to accompany Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, but sadly the NGPC could never compare to the likes of Nintendo’s Game Boy Color no matter how much it tried, and therefore SPA didn’t get nearly enough attention. Finally, that burning question has been well and truly answered. In an interview with IGN Insider, Sonic Adventure 2 director Takashi Iizuka confirmed that Sonic’s pink admirer, Amy Rose, will indeed play a part in the game’s story. But unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint) she will not be playable. It’d be interesting to see how she makes an impact on the plot when the game’s released.

Sonic Adventure 2 Demo Pods Appear in London
If you want to get your hands on Sonic Adventure 2 in the UK, you should head on down to London’s famous Oxford Street shopping district. According to Sonic HQ, Sega is showcasing a new demo version of the game in a number of Dreamcast pods near the ‘Miss Selfridges’ store. It’s a more complete demo, featuring more content than you can find in the PSO demo disc; you’ll be able to play the first level of each character’s story. Let us know what you think!

Voice Actor Reveals Sonic Adventure 2 Story Details
Sonic Adventure 2 sounds like it’s going to have one of the darkest stories ever seen in a Sonic game. In an interview with fansite The Floating Island, voice actor and cast director Lani Minella spoke of some of the minor character roles in the upcoming Dreamcast game, and how challenging it was to record the huge script in a five-day period.

Sega has put us all out of our misery and finally announced a release date for Sonic Adventure 2. The game will be hitting Japanese store shelves on June 23, which just happens to be Sonic the Hedgehog’s 10th Anniversary! What a fitting launch date. Not exactly earth-shattering news, but IGN is reporting that SEGA is showcasing demo versions of Sonic Adventure 2, Phantasy Star Online and a number of other Dreamcast titles at the Game Developers Conference 2001. No new information was gleaned from these appearances, but it does show that the House of Sonic is still supporting its final console even as it pushes towards third party publishing.
