Petit Hedgehog is probably one of the more notable entries at this year’s SAGE, with a refined version from last year’s expo being showcased for 2018. Created by Chengi, Petit draws upon influences from the Sonic Advance era, as well as translating elements from the Sonic Adventure formula into a 2D environment. A Sonic game just isn’t a Sonic game without some kind of elaborate story mode, and it looks like Team Sonic Racing will be no exception. Fresh off the press from Gamescom 2018, Gamespot are reporting the announcement of InkyPen, a Nintendo Switch app that provide users the ability to read comics and graphic novels on their console, including Sonic comics!

WWE Stable The New Day paid tribute to Sonic the Hedgehog this Sunday at Summerslam, debuting their new ring gear. Kofi Kingston appeared in a Sonic-themed outfit, adorned with trademark rings on his boots, while Xavier Woods and Big E appeared in Tails and Knuckles-themed outfits respectively, emblazoned with Tails’s tails and Knuckles’s knuckles!
The New Day went on to win their match against the Bludgeon Brothers, although the Tag Team Title they were after was retained by the latter due to disqualification.

There is no stopping Funko, POPs, T-Shirts, Key-Chains, more POPs, Funko is on a quest to fill your room with all manner of quirky Sonic items.
And that seems to be a continuing trend with last nights announcement dragging everyone back to the 90’s kicking and screaming.
Funko are to launch a line of PEZ dispensers based on some of their more popular licenses and you guessed it, Sonic is in the line.
If you don’t know what a PEZ dispenser is, they’re small plastic toys which dispense a small sweet that according to your mum will ruin your dinner if you eat too many.
No release details were given just yet, but watch this space as I can imagine here at the house of TSS we’ll be finding empty dispensers around the office for months.

The Totaku figure range came seemingly out of nowhere, what started with characters associated with Playstation games has slowly grown to include more third party franchises with other exclusive characters for specific systems promised in the future.
Shortly after their reveal, Think Geek began teasing that a Sonic figure would be joining the line, before it was eventually revealed at Toy Fair 2018 and had an estimated release date of around the middle of the year.
But for fans who pre-ordered the figure, there has been a long wait and silence with regards to its release. The figure has undergone numerous delays and silence with regards to its status.
But it now looks like things are happening. Twitter user Juvi Luna noticed that the official Totaku website has now updated to say that the figure will now release in September and on closer inspection it also appears to have been re-designed slightly.
After many months of delays, and no word from stores or totaku themselves, the Sonic totaku finally has a tentative release month! IDW have decided to release Sonic the Hedgehog #8 early, and with that comes an early preview! In this issue, after the failed data capture in the Egg Fleet, Sonic is assaulting the Arsenal Pyramid. Silver is there to help him out, but there’s someone else inside the base. Why do they call them the guardian angel? And why are they so secretive to boot? You can find out here!

This morning, Sega put out a new video for Team Sonic Racing that highlights the different team gameplay mechanics including skimboost, slingshot, item swapping, Team Ultimate and more. Highlighting the video is gameplay from not only the Planet Wisp stage, but the new ice level first shown at San Diego Comic Con along with some Big the Cat and Amy Rose gameplay.
Team Sonic Racing is available this winter.

SEGA today announced their line-up for Gamescom 2018, which is set to include among other titles such as two Persona dancing titles, First of the North Star, and Team Sonic Racing, which will be showcasing new features:
Team Sonic Racing, developed by award-winning studio Sumo Digital, is the ultimate arcade and fast-paced competitive style racing experience, featuring your favourite characters from across the Sonic Universe. Visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to race on an all new track, Ice Mountain, and experience two brand new playable teams.

Sega Forever, the free to play service which offers classic Sega titles for free on mobile devices has updated today to include Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2.
Originally released back in May 2012 (6 years ago), Episode 2 was one the whole a much better received game than Episode 1, with boss battles being more original and varied, level design noticeably improved and the inclusion of Tails to allow for special co-op moves.
The Sega Forever version has made one significant change to the original release, Episode Metal is now available immediately, previously you had to purchase both Episodes 1 & 2.

The image, purportedly from Pitt Lake near Vancouver, shows a town sign for the fictional location of “Green Hills” (which although is cut off in the image is also written on the side of the police cruiser in the background). Note the extra “s”, in the location, likely a bit of creative license on the writer’s part rather than a nod to the lesser-known zone of the same name from the Master System version of Sonic 2.
The sign also comes with the town motto of “The little town with a big heart”, along with the town’s population and elevation above sea level (although they missed a trick with the population – should have been 1991, not 1981!).
If this image is anything to go by, it is probably a good indicator we will see more nods and references to the game throughout the movie.
