Word on the grapevine is that Funko will be soon expanding their Sonic the Hedgehog line to include several character yet to receive a vinyl figure incarnation.
Sonic Merch News via twitter reports sources are expecting the release of a large expansion to the Sonic the Hedgehog range, including a modern Super Sonic with Chaos Emeralds, Metal Sonic, Amy Rose, and a special Team Chaotix 3-pack.
NEW Sonic Funko Pops may be coming!!
Several reliable Funko leakers have reported that we maybe getting new Sonic Pops, no word on release dates yet. These new Pops are rumoured to include Amy, Rouge, Metal Sonic, the Chaotix & more!

Have you ever wanted to own a Funko Pop version of Sonic from the western Sonic 2 box art for some reason? Well, good news, because that is now a thing. Funko revealed the new GameStop exclusive Pop! figurine on their social media today:

Funko has given us our first look at what they have in store for Sonic’s anniversary next year: new Silver and classic Sonic figurines. The regular versions of these figurines will be available exclusively at FYE for $12 each. Meanwhile, special editions of these figures are exclusive to two other retailers: the “flocked” (or fuzzy) version of Classic Sonic will be sold exclusively at Funko’s own online store, while the Glow in the Dark version of Silver will only be found at Hot Topic.
According to the 30th anniversary merchandise announcement last week, we have much more, including a Tails figure, in store.

Forgive the lateness of our podcast as we recorded this one a few weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean it’s not chock full of Sonic-ey goodness! In this episode we discuss Jason’s trip to E3, the fan revival of Sonic Runners, Sonic Revolution 2019, Funko Pop Sonic cereal, an unofficial Sonic book that uses fanmade images and much, much more. If you’ve had a hankering for a Sonic the Hedgehog breakfast cereal since Golden O’s made an appearance in the Team Sonic Racing infomercial launch trailer, Funko will soon be producing a Sonic-themed edition of FunkO’s, complete with blue rings!

There is no stopping Funko, POPs, T-Shirts, Key-Chains, more POPs, Funko is on a quest to fill your room with all manner of quirky Sonic items.
And that seems to be a continuing trend with last nights announcement dragging everyone back to the 90’s kicking and screaming.
Funko are to launch a line of PEZ dispensers based on some of their more popular licenses and you guessed it, Sonic is in the line.
If you don’t know what a PEZ dispenser is, they’re small plastic toys which dispense a small sweet that according to your mum will ruin your dinner if you eat too many.
No release details were given just yet, but watch this space as I can imagine here at the house of TSS we’ll be finding empty dispensers around the office for months.

Funko Pop! fans heading to E3 this year will undoubtedly be giddy with delight at the prospect of getting their hands on a very exclusive figure of Super Shadow, who will be exclusive to the LA show taking place next month.
If you are attending the show you will have to be quick however; only 1500 of the figures will be produced, and with Funko’s current popularity will likely sell out quickly!

Funko have announced a new range of Funko Pop products for the Sonic franchise. This will be the first addition to the line since the original set way back in 2013.
First up, there will be a Funko Pop keychain for Sonic with his gold ring, so if you want Sonic on the go there’s another option right here.
For the regular Funko Pop Vinyl line, there’s a much larger range of figures to get, although the amount of characters covered is the same as last time. Aside from the same Sonic with gold ring, the standard line also includes Sonic with a Chaos Emerald, Shadow the Hedgehog and Dr Eggman.
There will also be three figures that are exclusive to certain retailers. A glow-in-the-dark version of Sonic and ring will be exclusive to Toys R’ Us, Super Sonic will be exclusive to Gamestop and Shadow with a Dark Chao will be exclusive to Hot Topic.
No price point has been given for the figures or keychain, but it’s likely to be comparable to their other products. The slated release date for all of these is in December. If it comes out fast enough in the month, you might have another potential stocking filler in time for Christmas!

For 15 years, Funko have been making products based on characters from pop culture. Their range is expansive with hundreds of franchises and over a thousand different products. They’re also no stranger to the Sonic brand. A few years ago they made several Sonic toys based on their Wacky Wobblers line, so it’s not like this is the first time they’d had a go with the Sonic license. As mentioned a few days ago, the annual New York Toy Fair (NYTF) was held this week. Why is this a big deal? Well, for toy makers who have a license to make Sonic toys, this is the one of the best chances for them to promote their upcoming toys to retailers, buyers and the press. To compare it to videogames, this Toy Fair is the toy version of an event like E3.
In the last two years, NYTF booths have had a big Sonic presence at them and this years was no exception. However, unlike previous years in which Jazwares’ booth accidentally (though it wasn’t clear at the time) spoilt the announcement of Sonic Generations, security on unannounced products has been quite tight, very few photographs have been taken of the new merchandise… but that doesn’t mean we didn’t discover a few new things you might find of interest.

Back in June last year, we were able to reveal that the statue/figure maker Funko would be releasing a series of Sonic figures based on their ‘POP’ range. Since then there hasn’t been much word on the figures. However, that changed today when Funko showed off their Sonic range at the NY Toy Fair today.
