Dreadknux’s Diaries: The Final Look, Before SSNG!

Well, at long long last, the new look Sonic Stadium site is finally finished! This month was a bit hectic as I realised that many a fan was waiting for this site and its new look (much to my unawares). Finished every single page, but as soon as I finished some sections (i.e. Fan Hoaxes), some people send me MORE! Ah well, I guess this is what being a dedicated webmaster is all about.

Ask Dr. Dre(ad): February 2002 Mailbag

Yes, welcome again to my surgery. I am of course, the infamous Doctor Dre(ad), and no, I am not a rap star!!! *Gasp* Sorry, it’s time for my sanity pills. Now, let the doctor check up on your Sonic problem. Remember, this can be ANY Sonic question at all, it can be from the cartoons, the comics, the games (although the games are the most popular around here) or even about Sonic and his pal’s background or whatever. WHATEVER you want to ask about Sonic, I am here for you. Or rather, forced here for you, bread and water is hardly the wage of a doctor. Well anyway, talk to me and I’ll help, OK? TSS REVIEW: Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine (8-Bit)

In another unprecedented ‘Sonic’ port over to Game Gear and Master System from the Mega Drive, Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine pits you against 13 stages of puzzle-mania! Basically, beans drop endlessly from the top of your chamber. The aim of the game is to link up four or more of the same colour to make them disappear, and in doing so foil your opponent in achieving the same goal. You see, when you release beans, ‘Refugee Beans’ come dropping into the chamber of your rival, blocking his chamber up. The player who fills up their chamber first is the loser. Bootleg Zone: Sonic 6 (Game Boy)

Giggle. Another pirate attempt at trying to slap Sonic on where he wasn’t supposed to be – namely the Game Boy during the ’90s. You’d be forgiven for thinking that, upon playing this ROM, that it’s strangely familiar – that’s because it’s nothing more than Speedy Gonzales! Yes, indeed. TSS REVIEW: Sonic Advance

Sonic makes his first appearance on the Game Boy Advance, and it’s about flippin’ time! Everybody’s been waiting… anticipating this release since Nintendo’s handheld launched. And now, I can finally tell you how it plays. People might think that a return to 2D platforming isn’t a great idea for Sonic – especially once you account for how good Sonic Adventure 2 is. Well, don’t even think about comparing the two, as they are meant to work together – on GBA and GameCube! Continue reading TSS REVIEW: Sonic Advance

Dreadknux’s Diaries: The Sonic Site Award Winners, and a Christmas Update!

Yeah, my first Christmas update this month – the last for a while, as I found from many people that my Navigation menus were confusing, and the pages were linked incorrectly in very small cases. I was unhappy at that point with my site’s look, so (‘sigh’, you all go) again, I decide to change the cosmetics of the website. That’s why the Christmas update was the last one of the year and for the next few months. Continue reading Dreadknux’s Diaries: The Sonic Site Award Winners, and a Christmas Update!

Dreadknux’s Diaries: The Message Board Revived – Again!

Not much happened other than myself trying to revive the Message Board (yet again – this was the fourth time, and was really getting me down). However, I changed the name (from firstly, the ‘Sonic Stadium MB’, to ‘Dreadknux’s Forum’, to ‘Dead Sonic Forum’ [when I lost it for a bit]) to the ‘Sega Sonic Message Board’. I used a cool looking background which I came across by accident by colouring in Sonic and Shadow on Paint. ^_^ Continue reading Dreadknux’s Diaries: The Message Board Revived – Again!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 BETA – Playing the Legend

Sonic 2 Beta. The image that sparked the biggest conspiracy in the Sonic community was a picture of a level select screen that no-one had seen before, found in the Official Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Guidebook. The booklet featured whole black and white maps to all the levels to the Mega Drive classic and included every cheat possible… Of course, there was one little thing that no-one could quite figure out. TSS REVIEW: Sonic Jam

Sega Saturn owners the world over were looking for a reason why they parted with their Mega Drives and Sonic games, and got a Saturn instead. Well, Sega listened to them, and gave them…. a compilation CD. But not just any CD. This gave the post-Mega Drive owners a chance to play their fave Sonic games again. That’s probably why Sonic Jam meant so much to Saturn owners during the big black box’s life. Continue reading TSS REVIEW: Sonic Jam

Dreadknux’s Diaries: Final day of Sonic Site Awards Phase 1…

This is a series of personal blogs written by Dreadknux during the formative years of The Sonic Stadium. It chronicles significant events in the website’s early life.

The final day of the Sonic Site Awards Phase 1 – where fans submit their own sites (democratically) for nomination into award categories. Now that this stage is over, I deliberately closed the awards page so that no more cheating and submitting could be done. Still, some people managed to take advantage of the Universal Form to get their point across… The Stadium’s bagged well over 2,500 at this time, a truly great achievement.

Dreadknux’s Diaries: Gone Music Crazy!

This is a series of personal blogs written by Dreadknux during the formative years of The Sonic Stadium. It chronicles significant events in the website’s early life.

This month, I spent the time promoting the new release of my Radio Station, with the new name I made up in June – Sega Sonic Radio. I am in the process of making a separate website for it, and I uploaded a lot more MP3s. One step at a time eh? Also, I managed to grab about 300 new midis to slap into the Music Zone. The site is getting more popular by the minute! In this month, the Hit Counter has surpassed 2,000! Again, thanks to everyone for visiting, I will treat you – honest.

Welcome to Ask Dr. Dre(ad), you are now in my clinic. I am of course, Dr. Dread. You can call me Dr. Dre if you like, but I’m a doctor, not a rapper. Let’s just get that out of the way… Hmmm? Why am I here? Because of you. Yes, you. I know that, sometime in the not too distant future, you will have at least one question about Sonic the Hedgehog. A burning query that you just can’t shake off… but then you can’t be bothered to find the answer, and this leads to trauma. As well as constant head injuries involving a spade. Believe me, in my experience, it has happened. Continue reading Ask Dr. Dre(ad): July 2001 Mailbag
