Sound Test Saturday: Tales of a Hedgehog

Now let’s be honest for a second: there aren’t enough remixes of songs from the Storybook series, so far comprised of Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight. Say what you will of the games themselves, but you can’t deny that they have their golden moments, their soundtracks being no exception. That’s why I’m a little stumped as to find only a handful of Storybook mixes out there! Disappoint, Sonic community!

For that reason, this week’s Sound Test Saturday will pay tribute to the spin-off (or is it canon now?) entries and the music that accompanied them!

Let’s start things off with DjReds‘ take on “The Palace That Was Found” from SatSR‘s own Evil Foundry!

Dive into the “Dragon’s Lair” and finish with the “Unawakening Float” after the jump!

Pix’n Love: English History of Sonic WILL be Published

French book publisher Pix’n Love has contacted us to announce that the English version of The History of Sonic will be published, and made available “at the end of June.” Just in time for the blue blur’s birthday!

The company has also responded to reports that customers were not yet getting their orders on the original French book dispatched. “The book is indeed available on the French Pix’n Love website,” company spokesperson Olivier Braillon told TSS. “Orders have started being dispatched on Monday and the Pix’n Love team is working day and night to send all the orders placed (and there were many!). So if some readers haven’t received their order yet, it is entirely normal.

“Moreover, Tuesday was a bank holiday in France so most orders should arrive on Thursday in France and by the beginning of next week for all worldwide shipments.” Continue reading Pix’n Love: English History of Sonic WILL be Published

EuroGamer Provides Loads of Additional SASRT Details

Eurogamer has a very well written preview of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed that I highly recommend you read. It’s very well written and pretty effectively illustrates the struggles many arcade racer developers are having today, and how much of a unique case the success of the original Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is.

The article also had loads of new info, which I’ve reported below:

The game has 27 characters. This is 7 more than the last game, not counting console specific characters.

A WiiU release cannot be confirmed or denied. I personally quite confident we’ll see it at E3, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

The development team has been expanded, taking in people from two recently closed British game development studios that specialize in arcade racing titles: Bizarre Creations, the people responsible for Project Gotham Racing, The Club, and Blur, as well as people from Black Rock, creators of Split/Second. Gareth Wilson, whom we met at the press event in San Francisco, is one of those people. He came from Bizarre Creations and has games like Project Gotham 2-4 as well as Blur under his belt.
