Sonic Lost World, Mario & Sonic at the Sochi Winter Olympics, Additional Game Gear eShop Titles Unveiled via Nintendo Direct

Woah nelly, Sonic fans were in for a freaking treat this morning! ESRB Lists Three More Sonic Games for 3DS Virtual Console

Tails Adventure Game Gear Box Art

A few months ago, the Australian Ratings Board posted listings for both Tails Adventure and Sonic Drift 2. Now the ESRB has followed suit, listing not only these games but also Sonic the Hedgehog G.G., the Game Gear/Master System version of Sonic 1.

Of course, nothing is confirmed until SEGA confirms it, but with two ratings boards listing both TA and SD2, it’s probably safe to assume that we will at least be getting those games. If you’d like to read about some of Sonic’s history on the Game Gear, go check out my article about Sonic Triple Trouble.

New Ratings Suggest Sonic Drift 2 Finally Coming Overseas to 3DS eShop

UPDATE: It’s been rated for Nintendo 3DS by the US ratings board the ESRB, too.

A new rating has appeared for the Game Gear title Sonic Drift 2, suggesting that the game may finally be heading overseas to the Nintendo 3DS eShop following its release last year in Japan. The racing title was rated January 8th by the Australian Classification Board, with SEGA Europe as publisher, meaning the game is likely at least heading to Australia and Europe sometime soon. Oddly, the game is listed for ‘DVD’ as the platform, but is most likely a mistake. We’ll let you know when we hear more.

No release dates or price points are given, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them available at the eShop’s launch in late May. There’s also no word on whether these games will come to the U.S. and European Virtual Consoles. We’ll pass along more information when it’s made available.

Sonic Retro Reveal New ASR Art

Of course this really isn’t Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing art but instead some cool artwork from 1991 used to promote Mega World. Wouldn’t it be cool if Sonic riding in this car or his Sonic Drift car was implemented into Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing as DLC?

TSS REVIEW: Sonic Drift 2

Well, here’s the sequel to the popular Japanese Sonic Drift, released on Game Gear a year or two before this game. The difference is, it actually came out in the West! It seems the old Sonic Drift story is back – the Chaos Emeralds are under threat by Dr Eggman and his cronies, and the only way to grab the Emeralds before the lardmeister does is to take off in the Sonic Drift races and win them at the end of each Championship Race.
