      1. Sonic Colours wasn’t published by Nintendo. You may be thinking of Bayonetta 2, which is being published by Nintendo and developed by Platinum Games, though SEGA own the IP.

    1. @nuniruro you can have it as soon as the Wii U port of Sonic Generations comes out 🙂

      1. Well I want a slight upgrade like being able to choose upgrades on the gamepad if that actually happens

    2. Doubt it. With this partnership with Nintendo, you might not see Sonic games on any other platform for a looooooooooong time.

  1. Does this partnership mean no more Playstation or Xbox Sonic games? I hope not as I can’t justify buying a Wii U just for Sonic…

    1. It likely means Nintendo exclusiveness for this game, maybe a few more, but not forever. XD Sonic will return to multi platform after a while, I’d imagine.

      1. That sucks but I hope it does come back… Waiting for some kind of press release from Sega where they will(hopefully) shed a bit more light on all of this…

  2. …what happened to the whole “will be released on multiple platforms” mumbo jumbo…? I can’t really go out and buy a Wii-U or 3DS just to play the game.

    1. Well, I guess this now makes it official that that rumor in January was bull shit after all.

  3. Okay. That’s it. I am getting a Wii U for Christmas. I had been thinking about it, what, with Super Smash Bros., Wind Waker HD, new Zelda, new Mario from the Galaxy creators…BUT THIS HAS SEALED THE DEAL.

  4. Swee– wait? Does this mean Lost World is a Wii U exclusive title?? Sunnuva B– *shot*

  5. Super excited for this! It’s nice to know that Nintendo will get a slice of Sonic goodness. Especially since the Wii U didn’t get a port of Generations. Gettin’ pumped!

    1. It’s still kind of silly because the WiiU install base is low. They’ll outsell the possible amount of copies sold on WiiU just by releasing it for other platforms. More importantly they’ll be missing out on at least one sale. Mine. Gimme dat Sonic, but on some platform I have access to. I don’t want to be left out, you know (I also don’t want to invest in a WiiU)?

      1. It’s low yet look how good Transformed sold on it. After Colors outselling Generations this isn’t surprising whatsoever.

      2. Here’s the thing about the Wii U sales. They’re definitely going to improve over the holiday season, which is most likely when this game is being released. A lot of new buyers trying to figure out what games to get on their brand spanking Wii U, and look who they see! It’s Sonic, in a game they can’t get on any other console!
The way I see it, the Wii U is selling exactly like the 3DS did at first. Now if only they announce a price drop in August like they did for the 3DS…

      3. i bought the wii u right after launch because i wanted it at launch. for people looking for a good amount of exclusives wait until shin megami tensei x fire emblem, pikmin 3, the new game from monolith soft, wind waker hd, bayonetta 2, smash 4 or a new 3d mario come out first and then buy a wii u

  6. They had such a good thing going with the last few Sonic games. Multiplatform party. Why do this? Get this game on Steam.

  7. Well this is…..strange. I’d rather have other consoles in the mix (gonna be a little short-changed after my laptop purchase). But I’d much rather have a teaser than an image 🙁

  8. Well, the last 3D Sonic title to be an exclusive Nintendo release was Colors – and that was freakin’ sweet. So, I can’t wait to see more on this Wii U release.

  9. Thing is with the Wii U is alot of people I’ve spoken to want to buy it but cant “afford” it. I am one of the people that cant afford it sadly.

  10. …… at least I have a 3DSXL, but… DANGIT! I was hoping this would come to PC! >.< and I don't think I'll be able to afford a WiiU anytime soon either.. D8

Well, hopefully the 3DS Version is at least as good as Colours DS… I for one felt that had far more replayability then Generations 3DS did.

  11. Hopefully i will get Lost World and M&S@TS2014OWG when they come out. I was wondering if they were going to do a new Mario & Sonic.

  12. I really don’t get the people complaining. You don’t want to buy a console for one of it’s exclusives? For what do you buy a console then? That’s the only thing my consoles play, everything else goes directly to my PC. I understand possible frustration, but it’s just business. You want the game, you buy the console. Without exclusives, we might as well not have a console market and just play on our PCs.

    1. You buy a console to play a new generation of games, not just exclusive titles. The Wii U is going to be redundant by the time the Xbox 3 and PS4 are released.

      1. It is not to me, as the only things I don’t play on my PC are exclusives, which the WiiU will have plenty of as Nintendo is a strong first party publisher, expecially in comparison to Sony and Microsoft. I generally like Nintendo games, so I buy a Nintendo console. I generally don’t care for Sony’s titles, so I don’t buy a Sony console (unless they get exclusives I care for (just as Sonic Unleashed in case of the PS3) If I just want to experience “next-gen” games (that term is so stupid because it could mean so many things), I play them on a PC. But whatever floats your boat.

      2. i’m assuming the wii u, ps4 and next xbox will be around just as long as the last gen consoles so technically buying a wii u for a new generation of games makes sense

  13. If you zoom in in a larger/better quality version of that SLW screenshot:
    http://www.sonicretro.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/sonic_lost_world_large.jpg
Some of the worlds have a strong resemblance to New Super Mario U.. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, I just hope it’s not a 2D only game like Sonic 4.. But if it’s begin developed by Sonic Team with all the lessons that they’ve learned from Generation’s classic I might be in for it.

  14. oh so it wont be for XBOX, PS3/4 and Vita – well, that sucks.
i dont have a 3DS or a WiiU… i dont plan on buying them either.
    – it BETTER be a download title and not the boxed title they’ve said will come out. (lots of people will lose out on this).

    1. With all of these details and such like being announced with Olympics, and the convenience in timing, sadly, I doubt it will be downloadable. It must be a boxed game if it is going through this much publicity.

    2. i expect they will release it for download and retail like other recent nintendo games

  15. Did anyone think they are using the WiiU to only be compatible with the game because of the controller. I mean the whole console was built around that. Maybe they can’t port it to other systems because of the WiiU’s compatibility.

    1. I actually never thought of it that way… very good point there. This topic deserves more discussion.

      1. Thanks. I don’t understand why people are so mad because it is on a new console that everyone doesn’t have it yet. The WiiU is different. SEGA probably just wanted to try it out with a few games using the gamepad. It works for 3DS to because of the touch screen possibly.

  16. Do my eyes deceive me??? Is that…

    DUAL ICE SKATING!?

Nintendo has finally realized that my dream of a Waluigi and Dr. Eggman partnership has finally came TRUE!?

Oh dear, I’m gettin’ the vapors.

  17. And once again, the advantage of being a Nintendo-only gamer rears its head.

    Looking forward to this.

  18. Well, umm this is great news. Okay 1st of all: Yes! Nintendo only, take that other companies!!!
2nd: Dual figure skating? Woohoo! I wonder who they will pair up in the game’s opening video.
3rd: Partnership? Could we be talking about a possibility of an actual Mario Sonic crossover game?
4th: Can’t wait for new details on this Sonic game now since it is official, plus E3 should be a blast now!
5th: You guys are still using that picture of Mario and Sonic? Hmmm…
6th: Can’t wait for more of this to come!
and 7th: IT IS ABOUT TIME! 😀

    1. 8th: quote from iwata “sonic lost worlds is a brand new action platformer game launching exclusively on wii u and 3ds and we will share more details prior to e3”

  19. They FINALLY announce a new Sonic game and now they are telling us that it is a Wii U and 3ds exclusive?! Damn it, SEGA! I am not going to spend my hard earned money on a wii-u just for ONE game. The console itself isn’t even next gen so it would be a complete waste of money.

I’m not even angry. Just saddened that I won’t be able to play this game unless I win the lottery or something… Why can’t they just release it on all platforms? Wouldn’t that make the more money or am I wrong? What’s the problem? This isn’t fair to allot of fans who been waiting for this new game. Just why?

  20. Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! A new mainstream Sonic and a new Mario and Sonic, can’t wait!!

  21. So it seems judging by the screenshot, the worlds been broken up, and Sonic needs to fix the world by running (solves everything). I dunno though, just a thought =)

    1. It’s funny because in Generations Tail said “If you run fast enough, you can fix time and space!” I love that line.

  22. FINALLY! About freakin’ time, Sega!

I’m also disappointed by these games being Nintendo-exclusive though, mainly because I do not like the Wii-U. It is a generation behind all other consoles, and there are absolutely no other games on it that I want to play. And buying a console for just one game is dumb. I should know, I’ve done it before.

At least there’s the 3DS though. I just hope that version of the game isn’t drastically different like it was with Sonic Colors and Generations.

      1. >Implying you’d buy a console for a Sonic game only
Because Smash Bros doesn’t exist, right?
Also thanks for making me giggle. I love seeing people get mad at jokes.

        1. Did you really see that as being mad? I was just saying to stop putting stuff out of context. And, to be honest, even with smash bros, a lot of people wouldn’t fork up 300 bucks for a few games for a system which, arguably to a lot of people, really isn’t that interesting. That’s all I said, no malice. I probably should’ve used a different wording, but fuck literacy.

  23. Well, on the bright side, I can finally get a new game for my 3DS, perhaps along with Pokemon X/Y (whichever I decide to get).

At the same time, I am a little sad that it won’t be multiplatform. I own both a Wii (now obsolete due to the WiiU) and a 360 along with a 3DS, but I just like playing it on the big consoles more. I don’t really want a WiiU currently due to not being interested in a lot of the games out so far, plus it’s a bit too pricey for a college student like myself until the price drops or my job pays me more.

I suppose I’ll have to get it after release. The games aren’t worth $60 to me anyway XD It looks good, though, that teaser image. I’m getting Mario Bros. vibes from it, with the design of the world XD

  24. So, am I the only one who has looked closely at the image and noticed that the continent of the world shown is actually New Super Mario Bros. U’s world map? O_O Am I? Guys, it’s why it is a Wii U/3DS exclusive. I think we’re finally getting our true crossover.

        1. I’m speechless. It could either be that, or the developers of Sonic: Lost World were too lazy and/or too close to the deadline to make there own zone ideas so they made this partnership with Nintendo just so they can borrow the world ideas from New Super Mario Bros. U to meet the deadline. We all know it’s possible. 😉

          1. Ehh, I think that’d be quite the waste of a partnership. I mean, they look EXACTLY alike. The fork in Layer Cake Desert to the next two worlds and everything. Now, if you look at the other continents, maybe they’ll be shown off sometime… Maybe it’s taking an Unleashed route and making different continents for Mario’s world.

  25. Why has no one else noticed that the “volcano world” at the top of the map looks like Eggman?

  26. Sweet! Now I have even more reason to pay off that long lay-a-way planned Wii U system!

Wait… does this mean no Sonic games for the XBOX 360 & PS3? (I don’t really care for the new Microsoft and Sony systems…)

    1. those systems are at the end of their lifetime so i doubt any new sonic games will be released for them
