Freak-Out Friday: Sonic Mania Gets the Highest Quality Rip Treatment There Is

The Internet changed forever in November 2014 when Vinesauce made the great discovery that was GRAND DAD, and thus, SiIvaGunner and their bed-rocking high quality rips were born. In July, SEGA celebrated Sonic’s 25 year-legacy by revealing the throwback 2D title Sonic Mania to the world with a hype-inducing debut trailer, accompanying music “Checkpoint” courtesy of Hyper Potions and Nitro Fun.

Now, put them together and what do you get?

Freak-Out Friday: “I thought this was Sonic 2” by Hat-Loving Gamer

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was a perfect game back when it launched in 1992, pushing the known boundaries of blast processing even further with faster gameplay and more expansive Zones. The Genesis classic also introduced series mainstays Tails and Super Sonic, it marked the beginning of the Death Egg saga, and most importantly, it slices, dices, and makes thousands of julienne fries!

And to top it all off, who could possibly forget the climactic showdown between the fastest thing alive and the Death Egg Robot? Innumerable tributes to this fateful battle have been made already, but that of animator Hat-Loving Gamer—who previously worked on Sonic in the Mushroom Kingdom (1, 2) last year—puts a whole other unique spin on it! Eh? Ehhh?

…check it out below.

Sonic Takes A Selfie In This New Boom Parody

What happens when the biggest viral song of 2014 crosses paths with the biggest Sonic release this year? This apparently.

In a similar move to last year, The Sonic Show are celebrating their 8th anniversary by taking a Sonical spin on the years largest viral tune. The 2014 parody takes the animation route by featuring the talents of three different animators plus including the best #BADNIK smashing #SELFIES (that’s a lot of hashtags) submitted by their audience in a art contest run earlier this year.

Not only do they cover the expected ground of the most noticeable complaints from the community over the Boom redesigns, they also still find time to make a small dig at Sonic 06, quite fitting when some are calling Boom “Sonic 14″.

Doing what we do best (vulgar and immature content), we round off our week of 7th Anniversary challenges by putting together this parody of that song and asking it of our favourite old sidekick.

What do you think this fox says?

Freak-Out Friday: Why Knuckles Never Goes Super Anymore

Though Knuckles may be rougher than the rest of them, not even the blood of his ancestors can shield his sensitive soul.

Come on, who says pink isn’t manly? Honestly!

Download Summer of Sonic 09’s “They Call Me Sonic” Mix

tcmlolicWith Summer of Sonic 2009 all wrapped up and way past awesome for all involved, we’re starting to crack out some great downloads for people to keep as memories – or to entertain those who couldn’t attend the convention this year. As it happens, Bentley Jones returned after last year’s performance and gave an exclusive Sonic-themed song. Last year he did a special mix of “In His World”. 2009’s piece?

They Call Me Sonic.

Yep. I wasn’t kidding. They Call Me Sonic. As Bentley took the stage to sing it live, he jokingly mentioned how ‘serious’ this song is and how meaningful it is for Sonic fans around the world. Damn straight, it is. Maybe next year we can get someone to do a cover of Wonderman.

You can download the Studio version of Bentley Jones’ “They Call Me Sonic – Furry Tails Enhanced Parody Mix” (AAUK named it that, by the way) right here on TSS. Watch it on Youtube (because nothing says music download better than a video website obviously) via Sonic Wrecks’ page, then get it via the link below:
