SEGA Re-Releasing Master System & Game Gear Games?

UPDATE: It appears AtGames is a company that develops Plug & Play consoles with built-in games. The company has released a Mega Drive/Genesis system before and a portable Master System with 20 games in other countries, so this new listing is likely a new portable Master System for Australia. /UPDATE END

Original article below:

A new listing has appeared at the Australian OFLC website that indicates SEGA are planning to re-release many of their Master System and Game Gear games. A variety of titles were all rated together in the listing with a PG rating, but no details beyond that such as platform and developer are given. Among the games listed are four Sonic titles including Sonic Chaos, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Spinball and an unnamed 4th game simply labelled “Sonic“.

The full list of games includes:
Alex Kidd in High Tech World
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars
Assault City
Astro Warrior
Aztec Adventure
Baku Baku Animal
Bomber Raid
Columns
Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
Dragon Crystal
Ecco: The Tides of Time
Fantasy Zone
Fantasy Zone II
Gain Ground
Global Defense
Golden Axe
Kung Fu Kid
Penguin Land
Putt and Putter
Quartet
Ristar
Snail Maze
Sonic Drift 2
Sonic Chaos
Sonic Spinball
Sonic

Some of the Master System titles have already been released on the Wii Virtual Console, so if they’re coming to a downloadable platform it’s more possible that these games could either be coming to PC Download, the App Store, Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network or even SEGA’s online Play SEGA service. On the other hand, since the titles have all been rated together, then they’re very likely to be released on a disc collection, much like SEGA’s various Mega Drive/Genesis collections on PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, PS3 and recently on PC.

We’ll keep an eye out for any further info/media that may come to light and pass it on. Meanwhile, share your thoughts in the comments.

Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing Ratings Line-up. ‘Mild Suggestive Themes’

Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing has now been rated by 4 of the world’s ratings boards where the game will be released. Most surprising is the U.S. ratings board ESRB’s statement that the game contains Mild Suggestive Themes.

Nothing revealed in the game so far would warrant such a rating so it’s quite curious as to what Sumo Digital haven’t revealed in the game yet. Fans are speculating Ulala’s appearance in the game, past games in which the character as appeared have always contained been labelled with the Mild Suggestive Themes statement by the ESRB.

Sonic Adventure DX To Be Ported/Remade?

Sonic Adventure DX PAL GC

According to a recent ratings entry at the Australian classifications board the OFLC it looks like we could be getting a new port/remake of the Sonic Adventure Gamecube/PC port Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut. All we know right now is this new entry was rated on the 18th August 2009 as ‘G General’ and will be multi-platform.

The original port basically added some glossy changes to character models, a mission mode and all 12 Sonic Game Gear games. There’s no limit to what a new version on current consoles could add to the game if Sonic Team really worked at it.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for any future info/media on this, so stay tuned.

Nintendo published Sonic game rating appears on OFLC

A rating for a Sonic game has appeared on the OFLC’s website. The game has been rated G for General and is simply titled “SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Game (Multi Platform)”.

What’s odd about it is that the game’s publisher is listed as Nintendo. I guess this could be for Sonic Unleashed or Sonic and the Black Knight but Black Knight is supposed to be Wii Exclusive not multi-platform and Sonic Unleashed is surely being published by Sega because its being released on Sony and Microsoft platforms. Only conclusion one can come to is this must be referring to a new Wii and DS game as Nintendo are publishing it. Hopefully Nintendo/Sega will explain soon.

Thanks to Dan Hibiki for bringing this to everyones attention at the SSMB!
