Today marks the 5th anniversary of the original Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, to celebrate this, Sumo Digital posted some really interesting messages a short while ago.
Well that’s certainly caught my interest. No idea what they have in store at the moment, though personally I would love to see a sequel to the awesome All Stars Racing Transformed.

Last year, Meccano released a series of Sonic construction toys. Sonic & Knuckles in their ASR cars, and several playset’s based on various zones from Sonic’s 20 year history.
According to Toy World Magazine, Meccano is expanding the range of toys with some new additions. Sky Sanctuary is going to be added as a playset and another stage which is just labeled as ‘Canyon.’ The magazine claims that these stages will be based off ‘Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing,‘ but, considering Sky Sanctuary isn’t in the original ASR, it might be reasonable to assume that ‘canyon‘ refers to the Dragon Canyon from ASRT.
If you are a PS3 owner and you also subscribe to Playstation Plus, there’s some rather nice deals on the Playstation Store right now, with Sonic CD heavilly discounted and other DLC packs at less than half price.

Listings for the Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing sequel we first brought you word about in January have appeared at US retailer eStarland.com. The site lists Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing 2 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii platforms and says the game will be released November 30th 2012, which is likely a placeholder date, because games usually release in the US on a Tuesday, not a Friday. There are no signs of Wii U, 3DS and PS Vita versions, but at this early stage anything could change.
A placeholder box art is also on display on the site featuring the first game’s logo with a number 2 underneath it. The product description simply reads “Sonic and friends go back to the track in the sequel to their 2010 kart racing outing.”
Could these listings mean an official announcement is soon on the way? We’ll keep you posted.
Ok, so a couple of weeks back we were treated to a sneaky peak at some DLC for Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing on the XBox 360 over on the SEGA Blognik. I set a little task to go about doodling on the avatar in a no-holds barred contest to basically make as humorous an entry as possible. Well as per usual at the promise of free goodies, the entries came in their masses, which were whittled down to just a handful. The TSS staff then had a look, and out of the selection we picked a winner…the quality of the entries was so spectacular, that I think they deserve a mention here too…
3RD PLACE: MUSHROOM 64
It looks like Sonic is taking a real pounding! Genius! Mushroom 64 is the proud winner of a First4Figures mini Knuckles figurine!
2ND PLACE: Adamis
It looks like two wheels are better than four! Big is leading the pack! I think the bias for anything Big related shone through here! Again, hillarious! Adamis is the proud winner of a First4Figures mini Sonic figurine!

…OK, so I’m out of ASR quotes….but Rotor’s face cracks me up in this last frame. Also, SatAM really does not get enough love! Props to you Mr. Brockmüller – you are the proud receipient of a SEGA Prize Europe Sonic plush!

I appear to be far to slow at posting…I’ve already been beaten to this by Shadzter! No doubt we’ll all looking forward to being able to relentlessly slam Sonic’s car into a wall until he submits and gives us Axel from Streets of Rage as DLC…or something.
I quite like how this is a blank canvas, so here’s what I want you to do…get yer pencils, pens, paper and drawing tablets out and have a good doodle on this for me. Write speach coming out of the mannequin’s mouth. Give it humourous expressions. Graffiti on him. Turn them into Sonic characters. Take your favourite frame and draw/photoshop your avatar in… I don’t mind what skill level you have, or what you do…I’m looking for entries that make me laugh. Make me laugh hard enough, and maybe you’ll be rewarded handsomely with a SEGA prize Europe Sonic the Hedgehog plush for the effort.
You have until next Friday (5th of March 2010) to get your scribbles in. Please send all entries to the usual competition address: tbird [at] sonicstadium.org.
