Toshihiro Nagoshi – The Sonic Stadium

During a Tokyo Game Show Stream, SEGA Chief Creative Officer Toshihiro Nagoshi said a few things about the future of the Sonic franchise. First, he confirmed the obvious: that we’ll continue to get mainline Sonic titles, as well as spin-offs like Team Sonic Racing, in the future. He then went on to talk about recent trends like online gaming, and went on to say that he hopes we’ll look forward to “recent, new gameplay styles in future Sonic games.”

At the moment, we don’t really know what any of that means, aside from the possibility that they are exploring bringing Sonic to other genres that are popular right now. This isn’t the first time someone at SEGA expressed an interest in bringing Sonic into new genres, as Takashi Iizuka said something similar last year. Regarding e-sports specifically, Iizuka did not think the Sonic franchise was suitable for it.

New trailer for Sega’s 3DS RPG Hero Bank features a remix of a familiar Sonic song

Sega just yesterday put out a new trailer for Hero Bank, Sega’s new RPG for the 3DS which just came out in Japan on March 20, 2014. At the very beginning of the trailer, you can hear the remix of a certain song, instantly familiar to those who played Sonic Adventure.

Give up? It’s Twinkle Park! We don’t know exactly who the composer is (hell we have little info on what folks were behind the game or if it was even outsourced to an external company), all we know if that it was produced by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the man behind Yakuza and Super Monkey Ball.

SEGA France to Demonstrate ‘New’ Sonic Generations Stage at Paris Games Week

SEGA France has unveiled all of their Paris Games Week offerings via The Blue Room (their blog). Attendees will be able to go hands-on with the PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS versions of Sonic Generations, both Wii and Nintendo 3DS versions of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, the upcoming digital download port of Sonic CD and Virtua Tennis 4 for PlayStation Vita.

The creator of the Yakuza and Super Monkey Ball franchises Toshihiro Nagoshi will also be there to give the first public presentation outside of Japan for his latest game Binary Domain and Sonic fans will get their first public demonstration of a new stage from Sonic Generations by Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka. As we’ve seen all of the game’s stages in trailers, this stage won’t be completely “new”, but there are still four stages we’ve not seen very much of, like Speed Highway, Crisis City, Rooftop Run and Planet Wisp, so it will likely be one of those stages.
