Pre-Order Sonic CD’s OST on… Vinyl!?

Is it strange that the soundtrack for a game specifically meant for CD is on a vinyl record now? Can we call this Sonic Vinyl instead? Sonic Record? Who cares, because Sonic CD’s Japanese (and European) OST is available on record via Data Discs, and we’re ready to lay the wax and spin the sounds!

Is it just my imagination… Or does Japan get really amazing collectors/limited edition Sonic games?

Well Team Sonic Racing is no exception, whilst only a standard release has been confirmed for the west, Japan is getting a huge selection of limited and collectors editions!

The first edition is the “Team Sonic Racing” Trailer Music Selection” Version which comes with a small MP3 OST. Depending on the retailer you purchase it from, you also get a booklet and some acrylic ornaments.

But the most impressive edition is the DX Pack which comes with everything you see in this image.
priced at 13,590 Yen (£93), the edition comes with the following…

  • 1 game software (PlayStation 4 version or Nintendo Switch version)
  • Postcard book
  • Sonic Vs Shadow Shot Glass
  • Car Keyring

Yes you read that right, this edition includes a crystal cube! However no images of the cube have been made available at present.

Other collectors editions comes with the same stuff, but certain items are not included depending on the version you get.

Sega Announces Sonic Mania Collectors Edition for North America

Earlier today the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter announced the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition for North America.

Sonic Mania Collector's Edition

In addition to a download code for the game itself (of course!) on a metallic collector’s card, the pack features a 12 inch statue of Sonic standing on a Sega Genesis console – with added “Sega!” chorus when you flip the power switch – and a mock Genesis cartridge for Mania that opens up to reveal a golden ring. It’s about at close as we’ll get to an actual Sonic Mania cartridge!

The Sonic Mania Collectors Edition is priced at $69.99 ($89.99 in Canada), and is now available to pre-order at Amazon US/Ca:
Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition (Xbox One) (Canada)
Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition (Playstation 4) (Canada)
Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition (PC) (Canada)
The PS4 version briefly appeared as sold out, so supplies may be limited.

The Amazon listing also mentions a release date of May 31st 2017, which I believe is the first indication we’ve had of a solid release date. Time will tell if it turns out to be true.

No word on what (if anything?) the rest of the world is getting, but I can only hope it looks as good as this pack does!

The History of Sonic the Hedgehog Book gets a Collectors Edition

historyofsonic010-011

So this was a bit of a surprise, last year Pix ‘N Love released the awesome ‘The History of Sonic the Hedgehog’ book. An English translation was promised and released a few weeks ago in the US and the UK by Udon Entertainment. When asked if there would be a Collectors Edition of the book in English, Ash Paulsen (Udon Entertainment’s associate editor) said that there would be just the one standard edition.

However, last night Pix ‘N Love announced that there would be a Collectors Edition and that it’s available to order, right now! Over at the Pix ‘N Love website, they’re now taking orders for ‘The History of Sonic the Hedgehog Collectors Edition’. The price tag is £29.99 and there’s also a £6 charge for shipping.

M&S London’s Limited Edition Contains More Than Just a Tin, Coming to Australia

UPDATE: UK fans can now get the tin as a bonus with the game at Amazon. Thanks to Thomas for the heads up!

It appears the Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games Collector’s Edition revealed for Spain last month actually contains a lot more than just the steel tin shown on the box image SEGA Spain released. EB Games Australia is now listing it, except under the name ‘Limited Edition’ instead of ‘Collector’s Edition’.

The retailer has shared the above image of all of the item’s you get with this edition of the game, which include a steel tin, a poster, a t-shirt, a notebook and a carry bag. All of this is available to pre-order and purchase for $88 AU, which is just $10 AU more than the standard game on its own. It’s also worth noting that this set of goodies is exclusive to EB Games in Australia. It will also be made available in Spain, but we’ve not seen it up for pre-order yet.

M&S London Wii: UK’s Pre-order Bonus & Spain’s Collector’s Edition Revealed

The GAME Group (GAME, GameStation and Gameplay) has revealed the UK’s pre-order bonus for the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, which released November 18th in Europe. If you pre-order at either of the three retailers, you will get a free child’s large sized t-shirt (pictured above) themed with art from the game. Unfortunately, the t-shirt is only available to UK residents, so fans overseas won’t be able to import one (at least until a few inevitably hit eBay).

Your can get your pre-order in at the below links:
GAME: £29.99
GameStation: £29.99
Gameplay: £37.99

Thanks to Trixie the Great at the SSMB for the heads up!

More Retailers Listing Sonic Generations’ Collector’s Edition, Steelbook Limited Edition Revealed

We have some good news for those still looking to grab the Europe and Australia exclusive Sonic Generations Collector’s Edition. More retailers now have it available to pre-order, so there is plenty to go round.

International

First, Kaleidoscope at the SSMB informs that Mighty Ape New Zealand, who ship worldwide, is stocking both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. They’re selling it for $199.99 NZ.

German fans can still pre-order both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions for EUR 99.99 at Amazon Germany. Amazon Germany deliver to most countries around the world.

Finally, we’ve got word from reader Frack that Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi has both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions available for $169 AU, and they ship internationally.

Bear in mind these these are PAL versions. PS3 has no region lockout, but some Xbox 360 games do and so may not work in an American or Asian system.

Europe

UK fans can still pre-order both the PS3 version for £85.52 at Amazon UK. Unfortunately for those in the US, they don’t ship video games outside of Europe, and they’ve now sold out of the Xbox 360 version.

Australia

GAME in Australia is listing both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions for $169.95 AU. Only problem is, they don’t ship outside of Australia.

Jix Hedgehog tells us at the SSMB that EB Games in Australia is listing both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions for $168 AU. Oddly, it seems those outside of Australia will have to just plain try their luck and see whether their order is accepted or not. Their terms and conditions say: “We retain the right to either approve or deny any overseas transaction at our discretion.”

Netherlands

TimmiT over at Sonic Retro spotted that Dutch retailer NedGame.nl is stocking both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions for € 129; however, they don’t ship outside of the Netherlands.

HeatPhoenix and kjeldoostra tell us Game Mania is stocking both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions for € 129.98.

WebstyleCenter tells us that All4Games.nl is stocking both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions for €109.74. All4Games.nl ship to the Netherlands and Belgium, but the latter will cost you.

WebstyleCenter also tells us that Wehkamp.nl is selling both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions for €107.00. The retailer only ships within the Netherlands.

Greece

frokenok3 has informed at the SSMB that fans in Greece can pre-order the Collector’s Edition from their local Plaisio store. Oddly though, frokenok3 says his local store is only getting the PS3 version in and it isn’t available on their website yet.

France
Tikitiwa tells us that Amazon France is selling the PS3 version for EUR 99,99. They say to “sign up to be notified” when the Xbox 360 version will be available. Unfortunately, they don’t ship outside of Europe.

In other news, SSMB member Woun has found a Steelbook version of both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the Sonic Generations Limited Edition at Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi for $109 AU. The retailer ships internationally.

Amazon Germany lists both PS3 and Xbox 360 editions for EUR 99,99, which is just under $140 US. American SSMB member, and SEGA Bits staffer Barry the Nomad tells us they ship worldwide.

We don’t know how many of the Collector’s Editions both Mighty Ape and Amazon Germany have, but the former says they have ‘limited stock’. If you’re interested, you’re best to pre-order now.
