Lockdown not quite over yet, where you are? Don’t fret, you’ll soon have another way to binge watch the Sonic the Hedgehog movie if you live in the US. Paramount announced today that the cinematic adventures of the blue blur will be made available on the streaming platform from February 18.
You’re on The Sonic Stadium, so you don’t need us to tell you exactly what the Sonic movie is all about. But you might not be clued up on exactly how much of a box office smash the flick was, almost unexpectedly so.
As one of the last movies to release before the Coronavirus pandemic swept the globe, it has cleaned up in terms of revenue – both at the cinema and at home through multiple video releases. And, as one of the few genuinely good video game related movies, it surpassed all critical and sales expectations, blasting past its nearest competitor, Pokémon’s Detective: Pikachu.
Most fans will have already bought the movie on Apple TV, Amazon, or physical DVD through online stores, but it’s great to see more options available for those who haven’t quite made the jump yet. If you’ve somehow not yet seen the Sonic movie, go do it. It’s great.
