Sonic Mania’s Secret Ending! [SPOILERS]

So you’ve gathered all of the Chaos Emeralds. You’ve defeated Egg Reverie. You have screamed your way through 32 taxing Blue Sphere levels, and collected a gold medal from each of them. You’ve beaten the game with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles… and you’ve honed your speed-running skills in Time Attack…

You might be thinking you’ve seen all that Sonic Mania has to offer…but think again!

If you’ve reached this point, you have undoubteldy unlocked the “& Knuckles” mode in the debug menu, allowing Knuckles to play alongside you during the game. To the amusement of many, you can also play as Knuckles, and thus play through Mania as Knuckles and Knuckles.

If you make it all the way through the game and defeat the final boss, you’ll be treated to a special ending! An image appears depicting Knuckles reading the Story of “Sonic Mania & Knuckles” to an enthralled crowd of woodland creatures. It appears that the version of events in Knuckles & Knuckles is nothing more than a story fabricated by the Red Echidna, giving you, the player, a sly wink, as Sonic and Tails look on confusedly!

Fans will recognise the signature style of Tyson Hesse the creator of the trailer and intro movies – another great little addition to an already jam-packed game!

  4. Just the fact that they have this in the game in the first place makes me love the Sonic Mania Team even more than I already do. They had fun and it shows. I REALLY hope they all come back and work on a new 2D game in the future, I’d be a crime not to.

    It’s the true, TRUE Ending.

    Sonic Mania was just a fabrication of a such a brilliant mind that we human cannot possibly fathom.

    We are ALL Knuckles story……& KNUCKLES

  7. So before spoiling myself of this ending, I attempted a Knuckles & Knuckles run, with all Chaos Emeralds, I even got 3 achievements including Perfect Hedgehog.

    And when I beat Robotnik, the screen went black. 🙁

    That’s enough Sonic Mania for a while.
