Freak-Out Friday: Knuckles Glitches Again in Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice

There is an inkling of truth to the age-old saying, said by a wise and dangerously attractive young man:

“You can take the glitch out of the echidna, but you can’t take the echidna out of the glitch.” –VizardJeffhog

or

“You can’t teach an old echidna new tricks.” –VizardJeffhog

or

“Old echidna habits die hard.” –VizardJeffhog

Jokes aside, one thing many people will remember from Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is the notorious Infinite Knuckles Jump glitch: jump, pause, jump, pause, repeat ad infinitum, and you can practically beat the game in an hour. The infamous bug unfortunately met its gruesome and tragic demise with the massive patch that followed, but its spirit miraculously lives on two years later in Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice.

Discovered haphazardly by YouTuber Project Asra via a live playthrough of the game, this new “Knuckles Dig Gliding Glitch” sees the musclebound echidna flying through the air like NiGHTS themselves, activated by getting hit by an obstacle while emerging from the ground.
