“Champion”, from the anime series Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, is thrown together with the four introductory Sonic levels from the Genesis era for this week’s Mash-Up Monday! I have to say, the mash-up does quite well in weaving Green Hill, Emerald Hill, Angel Island, and Palmtree Panic together. They all fit quite seamlessly!
Keep in mind that, although the song involved isn’t the case, the source material is very NSFW as it contains adult themes and the like. You were warned, readers!

It’s no secret that the tag-team abilities of Sonic and Tails are going to be a major part of Sonic 4: Episode 2’s gameplay, and at last we have some official details on them. SEGA’s Mike Kebby took to the PlayStation Blog to tell us about what we can expect from the real super power of teamwork in the second episode of the Sonic 4 saga.

In an update to their website today, SEGA has cleared up the release dates for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 in Europe and Australia. It appears SEGA is going to defy expectations and release the PS3 version in all territories on the same day of May 15th 2012. The Xbox 360 version will also have a simultaneous release the next day on May 16th 2012 as expected. Other formats will follow later.

Follwing today’s Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2gameplay trailer, SEGA community staff member Kellie has been answering some questions from fans over at the SEGA Forums. Most interesting is Kellie’s response to a query about playable characters.
As Ranger posted, I’ve answered some of these questions for you. Tails is playable, but not in single player. When playing single player, you play as Sonic and interact with Tails to progress through the levels. When you’re playing two player, one of you will play as Sonic and the other as Tails, and work together.
Release date is Spring 2012, as noted on the trailer.

Unfortunately, Tails can only be played in two player mode and not in single player. It appears Sonic is stuck with tails too, and can’t be played alone like in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It’s beginning to look like co-op play is essential to progress through the game, though why there still can’t be an option to play as Tails and the CPU play as Sonic and still progress is unclear.

SEGA has just given some big news on their blog regarding the upcoming Sonic CD re-release. From today, those who purchase a GameStop branded Android tablet will get Sonic CD as a pre-installed game way ahead of the game’s newly announced December release on all platforms. Finally, SEGA has revealed that Sonic’s two-tailed friend Miles “Tails” Prower will be an unlockable playable character. Players will be able to take control of Tails and his flying ability on their second playthrough of the game.

Sonic CD will be re-released in December on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, PC, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, Android Phones and Windows Phone 7.

SEGA’s officially unveiled the Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Classic Metal Sonic Rival Battle at Stardust Speedway from Sonic CD for the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Sonic Generations. This level and battle were revealed with a batch of new screenshots SEGA dished out today, as well as artwork for Classic Tails and Modern Tails and the boxart for the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. Many new pieces of Sonic merchandise are now available at retail, so if you have a friend or family member who is a big Sonic fan, you’ll find plenty of items to choose from to buy for them this Christmas, or to just plain treat yourself with. First up are Sonic the Hedgehog and Jet the Hawk figures based on SEGA’s first Kinect title Sonic Free Riders, which was released last month. Each figure comes with the respective character’s eye wear and their hoverboard Extreme Gear. Both figures are available in-store at Toys R Us.
Next up is another Jazwares Sonic the Hedgehog figure based off of another of his recent games Sonic Colours for Wii & DS. The figure is pretty much the same as previous Jazwares Sonic figures, except this one comes with a White Wisp and a Red Wisp. You can grab it now online and in-store at Toys R Us. It’s also available to order at ToyGlobe.com.

The conclusion to Archie’s “Tails Adventure” story arc, which acts as an adaption to the Game Gear game of the same name, has just hit comic shops today. This issue will also be revealing the winners of the “Tails Fan Art Contest”. Tails fans might want to take a look at this!
